Vernon J. Male, 99, passed away Sunday (Oct. 28, 2007) in St. Anns Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.

Born Jan. 31, 1908, in Bartlett, Ohio, to William and Elizabeth Male, he was a retired Mason for Stark Ceramics in Canton, Ohio. He was a member of the Southland Mission Church in Cutler Ohio, and attended the 13th Street Church of God in Canton.

He is survived by one son, Dana Male of Powell, Ohio; seven daughters, Joretta Jackson of Columbus, Dolly (Gary) Thomas of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Norma Saffold of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Carol Patterson of Canton, Ohio, Vickie (Will) Wright of Los Angeles, Joy (Eddy) Allen of Washington, D.C., and Melba (Henry) Watkins of Springfield, Va.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by six half-sisters, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents; first wife, Mable Ann Tabler; second wife, Lenore Tabler; one son, Doran; and one daughter, Lillian White.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Southland Mission Church, Cutler, Ohio with Pastor Phillip Mayle officiating. Burial at Southland Mission Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home, Chesterhill, Ohio
