Calif death index: John Horace Mallows born 27 May 1858 in "other country" with mothers maiden name Chenery,died 24 Jan 1959 in Los Angeles county,CA.
Luella Prentiss Mallows born 21 jan 1872 in Wisc with mothers maiden name of Clark died 1st of June 1952 in LA county,Ca.
Calif birth index: Winnifred Mallows born 16 march 1910 with mothers maiden name Prentiss in LA county. Also listed in the Soc sec death index died 19 Jan 2011 with last known residence Claremont,Ca but her given name is spelled with one n in the Soc SEc index.

1910 census Los Angeles,Calif at 661 21st street. John Horan or Horace Mallows head of the hosue is 51 born in England,clergyman church. Wife is Luella A age 38,born in Wisconsin with daughter Winifred one month old born in Calfornia and mother in law Belle Prentiss,widow,born Wisc.

1920 census in San Dimas,LA county,Ca. J. Horan or Horace Mallows is 61,clergyman congregational, with wife Luella 47 and daughter Winifred age 9.

1930 in Claremont,CA John H.Mallows is 71, wife Luella is 58 and daughter Winifred is 20. Note in the Calif birth index her name is spelled with two Ns in Winnifred.

1937-38 Winifred Mallows teacher at South Euclid School residence 1024 1/2 North Laurel Ave,Pomona,Ca.

1948 Luella Mallows is in the Claremont,Ca directory with her husband and daughter at 535 Indian Hill Blvd.

MALLOWS, Reginald George Essex - Australia (and family) 1873-1952

My Great Great Grandfather was Reginald George Mallows (c1873 in Essex, England - 1952 in Victoria, Australia). He married Elizabeth Jane Steward (c1871 Armagh, Ireland - 1943 Victoria, Australia).

The pair travelled to South Africa for work and had 3 children while over there all born in Johannesburg.

Ernest Edward Mallows born 1902 died before 1911 in South Africa.
Abe Bailey Frederick Mallows 1907 - 1984 in Victoria, Australia, and my G Grandmother
Julie Elizabeth Selbourne Mallows (later changed her name to Sybil Elizabeth Mallows) born 1909 died 1998 in Victoria, Australia.

The family moved back to UK arriving in Southampton on 30 June 1911 via ship.

With all of the above information, does anyone have any information on Reginald Mallows or his family?

I have Mallows in my family tree, I can go back 6 Generations and they all started out in Norfolk.

Because there are a very large number of Mallows in Norfolk which Mallow family are you researching and which county are they from.

Get back to me and we can give each other information if the same Mallows.

I am a bit confused as well. I have seen birth years for Christian Mallows (Mellows, Mellowes) as 1609, 1611, 1620/21 married to Thomas Pettit in 1629, 1636. I have seen Oliver Mallows (Mellows) son of Abraham and Martha Bulkeley Mallowes, nephew of Rev. Peter Bulkeley...Married Mary James at Boston England, Jan 1 1620, mother of Christian who married Thomas Pettit. Oliver married second, Elizabeth Conney March 1, 1633 in Boston Englandand emigrated the same year with his second wife and children. Thomas Pettit and Christian Mallows were said to have had Thomas Pettit II in Salem Harbor 1630 in route to America from England. (confusion) There are a lot of moving parts here. I wonder if much of the confusion is siblings and families(Thomas Pettit, John Pettit and Anne) etc....it sure would be nice to get it all straightened out.

Thanks for the reply.

I think my Elizabeth might have been the daughter of John and Elizabeth - I have not found a baptism for her or a marriage for them, but "John and Elizabeth" had two children, Robert and Mary, buried in Quidenham in 1779 and 1780 respectively.

There was an Elizabeth Mallows buried at Quidenham on 16th May 1814 at the age of 74.

I think my Elizabeth may have had a brother named John - this is based on the fact that Daniel Hawkins (my Elizabeth's future husband's name) witnessed the wedding of John Mallows of Eccles to Mary Mennings at Quidenham.

Turning to my Elizabeth - as I said before she married Daniel Hawkins in 1799 and had several children including my ancestor Sophia Hawkins. Elizabeth died in 1850 and was buried at Quidenham on 2nd November 1850 at the age of 77. From this I infer that she was born around 1773.

This is all the information that I can connect to my Mallows family at present, though I have also come across a number of other Mallows families in my research including one from Garboldisham.

This particular Elizabeth Mallows is unknown to me. My Mallows are in and near Garboldisham. But I see that Quidenham is not very far away and there could be some relationship.

my great grandmother was sarah elizabeth mallows she was married to my great grandfather in 1886 in yorkshire, on the 1901 census it said she was from norfolk. i am waiting for a marriage certificate to see exactly where she was born and her fathers name to give me more information.i have emailed someone and they thought she came from middleton.if you would like to send me some information about the name mallows of norfolk i would be very interested.yours sincerely thereesamo

My wife's Great-Grandmother was Alice Maud Mallows.
She was born c.1870 in Westminster (according to the 1901 Census).
Her Father was John Mallows.
On 7 June 1890 she married Charles Chalcraft at Brasted Church in Kent (near Sevenoaks).
Alice and Charles, (who was a Blacksmith), lived at Goathurst Common, Sundridge, Sevenoaks, Kent, in 1901.

Anyone have any connections or info?

CHARLOTTE MALLOWS was born December 17, 1819 in England, and died June 10, 1857 in St. Louis, Missouri. She married GEORGE PIPE 1848, son of JOSEPH PIPE and SARAH UNKNOWN. He was born January 14, 1821 in Rumburgh Suffolk England, and died December 25, 1886 in St. Louis Missouri.

Children of CHARLOTTE MALLOWS and GEORGE PIPE are:

ii. CHARLOTTE PIPE, b. 1843, London England.

Hi I am writing about what was posted about Mallows Family. My great-great grandpa was named John Herbert Mallows and I think he had a brother named Thomas who had a daughter who lives in California that never married.

I am researching this same line,a Christina/Christiana Mellowes who married a Thomas Pettit. But most records I have seen have her parents listed as an Abraham Mellowes and a Martha Bulkeley-I believe that the Oliver Mellowes you speak of is her brother. I have in my records that Christina was born in 1611 and Oliver and Mary were not married until 1620 so the dates do not seem to match up. Hope that helps.
