I'm looking for Philip Manington(Mannington)descendants,Actg.Superintendent(Governor)of Penang,Malaysia from(1794-1795).Son of Philip Manington & Jane.In 1759 he applied to be a writer for the United East India Company at Fort Marlborough in the East Indies. He had studied arithmetic, French, Dutch, and book-keeping at school in Noordwijk,Holland.He married 1st to Ann and 2nd to Elizabeth Jackson Herbert.He died in 1795.

i)John Manington(?-1789)m. to unknown.Their issue:a)-Elizabeth Manington.

ii)Elizabeth Plamer Manington m.to Charles Sealy.Their issue:-a)Charles Thornhill Sealy(1804-?).b)Mary Ursula Sealy(?-1846).c)Cubert Sealy.

iii)Philip Manington(?-1806) m. to Ann.Their issue:-a)Elizabeth Manington,b)Ann Manington(?-1780).

Is there a connection between Anna Maria Mannington/Monington who married James E. McClaskey 1812 and James Mannington and your surname, McCloskey ?

I just started research on this family also. I am only back to James parents Robert Mannington & Sarah Somerfield. More luck with Ruth Barber's ancestry. Have you got back any further?

Hi Larry,
At this time to my knowledge there are now three living people researching Mannington. The one I found last month said she had not found anyone in 20 years who was researching this name. Good News/Bad News. I don't see any connection with my Manningtons . Mine are located in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana. Oldest known Mannington I have shows he was from NJ. The good news is that I think you are going to tell me that your Manningtons are Quakers.

MANNINGTON, Thomas and Mary of East Sussex ENG 1750s

Looking for anyone who knows of this familyand their early history. They had a daughter Ann, bp 17 August 1783 at St. Clements in Hastings who married Henry TINDALL in 1802. They had a daughter Mary Ann bp 27 Oct 1803. Mary Ann married George SNOAD. Mary Ann and George SNOAD immigrated to the US in about 1839.

Hi I think I might be able to link James Mannington to the English Manningtons. It's a bit of guess work at the moment - but Richard Mannington 1788 - 1841 and Hannah Berry (1792 - 1885) Had a son James he might be the same James - but might not also. I know nothing about this James.

I just got a Pedigree Chart from my grandmother today and James Mannington was listed as my 4th great grandfather, I have the same information on James as you posted, but I also have that he married Ruth Barber in 1865, and that they had a daughter names Sarah born in 1836. The only information I have on his father, is that he was from England.
