Hello! My wife is doing family reserch and believes the man she called Uncle Frank may be John Francis Manqueros, aks Juan Franciso Manqueros. She is an Esparza from Colorado. We have a picture of Uncle Frank from the 1920's that matches the descrition of Juan Franciso Manqueros's on the manifets from El Paso entry to the USA. If we have a match we have a lot to share and a lot to learn. The folk lore of this branch of the Esparza family seems to parallel the story related below by Joseph A Manqueros. Sincerely, Kevin McKnight

My e-mail address is venie9@csufresno.edu, you can e-mail me anytime and maybe we can find something.
Vanessa

I was searching for information about my last name Manquero and I noticed that your last name is Manqueros with an s. I was told by my father that his roots are from Durango which is why this interested me. Could it be that since Manqueros was a scottish name and changed it could be that the s is now also dropped as we carry the name now. I know very little about my origin and no one has been able to give me information. If you have any information to share please email me at anna99@csufresno.edu
Thank you

Joseph, your message was interesting! what branch of the Manqueros family are you familar with. My family is from Durango, Mexico. My Grandfather, Damacio's first wife died after their 1st born and he married my grandmother, Nicolasa Guevara, in 1913. Damacio was born about 1872 and my research has led me to believe he had at least 7 siblings. What information do you have that you are able to share. I don't know what to ask or share without dates. Waiting to hear from you. Thank you

I am trying to get information on my father's side of the family. His mother was Marie Manqueros (who married Seth Edwin Shirley). Marie, her parents Jesus, Lita?, her brothers John (Johnny), Salvador her sister Corrine....all came from Durango, Mexico. Marie (Maria) was born on August 30, 1905. The family settled in San Pedro, CA. I do not know when they left Mexico. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Eileen Hochstein

Eileen, my father is Fidel Manqueros and his family is from the state of Durango, Mexico, as well. He knows a fair amount of the family history. If you write to me privately, I would be happy to put him in contact with you. He has visited the family town, looked into records, and knows a lot of the stories.

Anyway I came across your posting as I am researching
Tata's family, havent even begun on Nana. I do know that Lita maiden name was Gabriela Esparsa if that helps you any. You have my email address so keep me posted on your findings. Also would appreciate anything you might have come across for Tata. Also if I can think of anything else I will let you know.
