My wife is doing family reserch and believes the man she called Uncle Frank may be John Francis Manqueros, aks Juan Franciso Manqueros. She is an Esparza from Colorado. We have a picture of Uncle Frank from the 1920's that matches the descrition of Juan Franciso Manqueros's on the manifets from El Paso entry to the USA. If we have a match we have a lot to share and a lot to learn. The folk lore of this branch of the Esparza family seems to parallel the story related below by Joseph A Manqueros.
