Grandmother was a Maple.

I am new to this, and I am looking for information on my grandmother's family. She was Florence Blanche Maple from Logansport, IN and was married to Joseph E. Lusher also of Logansport in Cass County. I don't remember her father's given name, but her mother was Jennie or Jenny Friend. I don't remember the names of all her siblings, but she had brothers Guy, Ray and Roy Maple. Sisters were Ethel who married Curtis Kennel (moved to Indianapolis) and Dorothy, Mae, and Jean who died rather young. If you have any information on them, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks. Dianne

Children Abducted by Marvin & Sandra Maple

Posting this to widen visibility of case.

Robert and Katharine Baskin abducted March 1, 1989 by their grandparents Marvin and Sandra Maple.

Circumstances: The children were abducted by their non-custodial maternal grandparents, Marvin and Sandra Maple. Photos and vital statistics for them are posted below. At the time, the children were in the temporary custody of them after allegations that the children's parents sexually abused them. The allegations were determined to be baseless and police fear harm may come to the children as the Maples stated they would kill the children before they were turned over to their parents. The Maples were living with the children in Santa Clara, California, from March 10, 1989 to August 1989. Police say the couple may be driving a tan, customized van with license plates from a southern state. A FBI Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution Warrant was issued for the abductors on April 6, 1989.

See Link:
http://www.childquest.org/viewcase.php?casenum=1077&pers...
Maple Surname DNA Project

A Maple Surname DNA Project has been established at Family Tree DNA LLC. The cost of the Y-DNA 12 marker kit and analysis is $99. DNA is obtained via a simple cheek swab that is mailed to the Family Tree lab.

It is believed that most Maple surnamed men now living in North America descended from the 6 sons of Benjamin Maple Jr. of Middlesex County NJ (1696-1777). One goal of the Project is to discover or confirm Maple family lineages. Eventually we hope to trace our paternal ancestry back to Europe and confirm that Benjamin's father was an Englishman or perhaps find that he just sailed from England in the late 1600's.

For additional info: www.familytreedna.com. Type Maple in search box located upper right of the FT Home Page.
I am looking for the family of John Maple, a Civil War veteran. I am doing a book about Battery D 1st WV Light Artillery, formed in Wheeling, WV and there was a John J. Maple or John I. Maple, listed as age 40 in at enlistment in Aug 1862 - but the age may not necessarily be correct. This John Maple also served in the 2nd Ohio Cavalry.

He said he was born in Ohio but sometimes the men actually stated where they were living at the time of his enlistment. His occupation at the time of enlistment was "millwright."

Does any of this sound familiar?

please email LCFlu@aol.com
Maple and Ramsey photos

I have recently been loaned a photo album with at least one photograph of "Will Maple." Many tin types are included with the card photos from such places as Alliance, New Lisbon and Wellsville, Ohio. They are of family members from children to parents.

The Will Maple in the photograph is probably the son of William Rich Maple of Jefferson County, Ohio. The photo of Edwin Ramsey is of a young man possibly 20 years old which dates the image around 1884 when the Maples & Ramseys moved to Nebraska/Kansas.

If you are part of this family, please contact me. If you have experience with photographers in this part of Ohio, please contact me. Thanks for any help you can give.

HOW CAN I GET COPIES OF THE FOLLOWING?

The marraige license was dated for 29 January
1769. I found it from the New Jersey Archives, I believe it was. Also the marraige
license for Benjamin and Elizabeth Lee, 4 June 1695 at the house of Thomas Revell, which still stands in Burlington, New Jersey.
I also got the copies of the wills of Benjamin Sr., 18 May 1727 and Benjamin Jr., 26 November 1777. Then I copied it on a tan colored paper so it would look old. You can get a picture of the Revell house on the www for New Jersey, Burlington City. Good Luck.

Willis Maple, 1850-1939, Shelby/Decatur Co, Indiana

I am looking for information on Willis Maple, b. 1850, d. 1939 in Indiana. I believe he may lived in Decatur and/or Shelby County. He is buried in the Winchester Cemetery in Shelby County, Indiana. He married Charlotte "Lottie" Nugent on January 28, 1873 in Shelby or Decatur County, Indiana. She was my great grandaunt. She apparently was better known by here nickname than real name as Lottie Maple is the name on her gravestone. I suppose Willis might be a nickname, but I don't know what for. There are other Maples in Winchester cemetery that may be related, but I have only been able to identify Willis and Lottie's one son, Andrew E. Maple, who is buried near his parents.
I do know that Willis and Lottie Maple had four other children, and I know very little about what happened to them or where they might be buried. Those other children were: Inez Maple, married a man with surname of Scudder; Lora Maple, married a man with surname of Chesser; Ora Maple; and George O. Maple, b. 1876, d. 1951. That is the only information that I have on their children.
Any information on Willis, his parents and his children would be greatly appreciated.
Thomas James Nugent

I read the messages back and forth about the Maple family in Peoria, Illinois. Also noted CJ Watrous as an interested person. Timothy Watrous was the father of Samuel Watrous who was the father of Louisa Watrous who married Abraham Maple. I have the complete families for the children of Timothy Watrous which include William W Watrous who married Harriet Janet Rose, Samuel Watrous who married Julia Ann Palmer and Jerome Timothy Watrous who married first Olivia Burke Muse and second Mary June Reynolds. Do you descend through the children of Samuel or William? All migrated from Muskingum County, Ohio to Hollis Township, Peoria, Illinois with the exception of Jerome Timothy Watrous who migrated from Zanesville, Muskingum, Ohio to Terre Haute, Henderson, Illinois.

Would love to share information!

Sandy Watrous

Marriage Announcement of Miss Jessie Byrd Fuller & Arthur Loyal Maple Bham, AL 1933-45

Just today, I have found a marriage announcement in an old book which was purchased at a thrift store. It is dark yellow from age, but in very good condition.
I thought that I would type it here in case someone "out there" is related or interested in the marriage of Miss Jessie Byrd Fuller and Arthur Loyal Maple.
My children are related to the Fuller's in Perry Co. AL, and I may have a connection here through them. I will have to check.

There is no indication of a year in the wedding announcement, BUT, on the other side of the announcement there is an article that mentions "President
Roosevelt" and "veterans of the 1919 strike". Using this information, I concluded that the President must be Franklin D. Roosevelt instead of Theodore Roosevelt. The time period of FDR's presidency lasted from 1933 until 1945. So, that gives a marriage year somewhere in-between the two.

Here is the announcement:
MARRIAGE OF MISS FULLER AND MR. MAPLE AT PERRYVILLE
The marriage of Miss Jessie Byrd Fuller and Arthur Loyal Maple of
Birmingham, was impressively solemnized Saturday morning, June 16, at 10:30 at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Tazwell Fuller, at Perryville, Ala.
Only relatives of the bride, and Miss Bliss Maple, of Lebanon, Indiana witnessed the ceremony.
The nuptial vows were read by Dr. S.H. Jones, pastor of the Siloam Baptist Church at Marion, Ala., before an improvised altar of Southern smilax and greenery with the cathedral candelabra burning dimly in the background.
Prior to the ceremony Miss Mary Sue Harris, cousin of the bride, sang "At Dawn

Nancy Jane Maple, b. 1812, Alabama

I am looking for any information about the family of Nancy Jane MAPLE married to William BUTLER (1798-1866) abt. 1828-29. She was born in 1812 in Alabama, died in 1892 in Van Buren, Crawford Co., AR and is buried there in Dobbs Cemetery.

I have 15 children for she and William: Pretti, Sarah (1830), Mary Jane (1832), Nancy C. (1833), Mahala (abt. 1838), Lucinda (1838), Matilda (1840), Sabrilla (1842), Pat (1844), Mary W. (1845), Margaret (1846), William Hudson (Dec 22 1849), John D (Nov 24 1851), Mary Jane (Oct 13, 1855), and Elizabeth (1857).

Family stories suggest she may have been part Cherokee though we have been unsuccessful in finding any evidence to support that theory. In fact, other than knowing that the family was in Van Buren for the census in 1860 and 1870 (Nancy was widowed and head of household) and knowing that she is buried with William in Dobbs Cemetery, we have no information about her or her family.

I welcome any information or suggestions.

I am beginning a family tree for my mother's side of the family. Her grandfather was Lorenzo Maple. He married Sarah Harris (not sure of last name or spelling). I'm pretty sure that they had 11 kids, one of them being my grandmother, Lilly Gertrude Thomasson. I do not have any information beyond Lorenzo so any information that anyone may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
