The father(Arthur Maranda) of my grand-pa(Michel Maranda)
came with his father from l'île de Ré (Portugal) then we spelled it Miranda but when they arrived here they changed it.Now the whole family lives in Canada...mostly around Montréal in Québec.Well that's all i heard about us.

I have just found that I have this line in my family , i know they are from Canada and they we're married 22 Oct. 1726 , St. Pierre on the Island . Can anyone help me . they had a daughter by the name Francoise Maranda who married a Jean Baptiste Girard . If you have anything on these families i would love the help.

Does anyone have any photographs of the Jean Baptiste Cadoret married to Phelonise (Philomene) Vanasse family? They married about 1865 and lived in St. Simon, Sorel, and St. Marcel-de-Yamaska, Québec. Their daughter, Anne Rosalinde Cadoret married to Dr. Louis Herménégilde Maranda in 1896, Montréal, Québec, are my husband's grandparents. About 1898 they were living in Woonsocket, RI. Would love to hear from you.

In case your interested. I just found out from a Marunde in Germany that Maronde has a French orgin. Around 200 yrs ago the Hugenots left France because of religious persecution and went to West Prussia. Where my gr grandma is from . But I do remember a site where the surname was De Moran. It was in Italy or Spain. So that is quite interesting. I think 'de' means 'of the'. So it possibly could mean of the moors. Ck

I am looking for information on Marie Lucie Maranda's Parents Melem Maranda and Philomene Maillet, Lucie was born in Saint-Charles NB Canada on Oct 8 1894, she married Jean Baptiste Chevarie in 1912.
I have Philomene Maillet Born in Bouctouche NB, no dates and I have nothing on Meleme Maranda.
Can anyone help me with Meleme Maranda? I have nothing else on the Maranda. I would like to know where they came from? names etc....

The David I have the last name is spelled Miranda. He was my great grandfather. He would have been born maybe around the late 1880's or early 1890's. I am not sure. I know he married Carlie Cremeans.

I'm looking for information on Maranda's (we spelled it Miranda) but I can't find anything on them. My Great Grandfather was David Miranda or Maranda. I'm not sure of dates, but his childrens names were Geneva, Walter, Elba, Ivy,Howard, Heber and two other girls but I don't have their first names only their husbands last names. Those are Hilbert Miller and William Redden. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Joseph Maranda born May 14 1703 in St-Laurent, Ile d'Orleans, Quebec married Elisabeth Isabelle Roberge Lapierre on Oct 22 1726 in St-Pierre, Ile d'Orleans. She was born on Jan 12 1704 in St-Pierre, daughter of Pierre Roberge-Lapierre and Francoise Loignon. They had 11 children: 8 daughters and 3 sons. One of the son Charles, born Jan 10 1734 married Cecile Leclerc (daughter of Joseph Leclerc and Marie-Ursule Noel)on Apr 11 1763. Charles died Mar 3, 1797 and had 11 children, one of them being Marie-Francoise born Mar 13 1775 in St-Laurent. She married Jean-Baptiste Girard, son of Charles Girard and Narie-Josephe Roy, on April 4, 1796 in St-Laurent.
Joseph, the garnd-father was the son of Charles Maranda and Denise Fiset. Charles, born April 26 1670 was the son of Jean Maranda and Jeanne Cousin. Both came from the village of LaFlotte on Ile de Re next to LaRochelle in France. The family came to Canada in 1666 with their first 5 children. 4 more, including Charles were born here

Hi: I noticed that you thought your Maranda's may be of French Canadian ancestry. I recently found out that one of my relations, Belonie Richard was married to a Marie Maranda about 1870 in Richibuctou, New Brunswick Canada, do you have anything on the family in New Brunswick.

I am looking for information on Elizabeth Maranda. I own a book store and have a hand typed book on costumes. Most of the costumes are hand drawn and colored. This book is hand bound. It is dedicated to Winona. It is entitled, Costume by Elizabeth Maranda E.S.T.C.

I am interested in who she is and any history about her.

There is and inscription at the end that says:

" It is my intention that this book shall be use as an aid to student's of Custome Design. I have endeavored to compile the material in a clear and concise manner. I hope that it will read and the material herein given attention. "

I am looking for vital statistics and parents names and locales for Bernard Leo Maranda, who was my husband's grandfather. He was married to Mary Cochran in Ohio around 1915. They had a daughter Kathryn Maranda. Then Mr. Maranda left, supposedly for California. I believe he may have been born in Darke County, Ohio, or nearby, of French Canadian parents. I believe he may have died in Los Angeles County California in 1972 as listed in the SS death index. His wife later remarried to Dairus Roderick. Any information concerning Bernard Leo Maranda or his family would be greatly appreciated.
