My name is Catharina Susanna Maré My father was Petrus Johannes Maré . His father had the same name and his brother was Jan Adrian Maré . Both brothers had many children of which I am the oldest ( 54)

I KNOW THIS IS OFF THE MARE SUBJECT BUT DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FRED SCHROEDER, MARY'S FIRST HUSBAND. I GOT MARY'S OBITUARY LAST SUMMER AND CAN'T FIND IT. SAID SHE HAD A DAUGHER MARY LONGRIE, (FOUND HER) AND A DAUGHTER, MISS MARGARET IN LOS ANGELES, CA. THIS WAS THE FIRST I FOUND OF SCHROEDER. DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT HIM ORTHIS FAMILY.

I just found my MARE family, in Swain Co. No. Carolina, 1900, census. It states all was born in North Carolina.
Father -George Mare, 1863 - WIFE (blurry but liiks like Norine ) born 1870, married 11 years, had 6 children- 5 living/ George a fireman at a saw mill.
Children- Luella 1892, - Henry 1894, - George 1894, - Theodsia 1896, - Nancy, cant read but would be under 4 yrs old.
All I have on this family is son George Lawrence Mare, married my mother in-law - Agnus Kay Kozinski about 1930, in L.A. Calif. They are both burried in Glendale Calif. I have been hunting info. on this family for years, so any information would help! Thanks Melba

I KNOW THIS IS OFF YOUR SUBJECT BUT I HAVE DISCOVERED MARY VERTZ, BORN 1868, OLDER SISTER OF YOUR CHARLES, WAS MARRIED BEFORE SHE MARRIED FRANK CURTICE. THE CENSUS' SAYS SHE WAS MARRIED AT THE AGE OF 15, HAD 3 CHILDREN AND 3 SURVIVING. PROBABLY NO ONE ALIVE KNOWS ABOUT THIS OTHER FAMILY. IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY.

My name is Nancy L. Vertz, There are Mare's that came from England as well. My mother's mother was a Mare. Her name was Eleanor Louise Mare who married Marion Maupin Duke in 05 -16-1905 Brazoria Co, Tx,
Her father was John R. Mare Sr who was born in England 1864, His parents were John & Eleanor Mare born in England in 1837 & his mother 1835. He had a sister Eleanor Mare born in England in 1866.
They came to America & settled in St Louis, Mo. There were two more sisters borN after they came to America. Minnie Mare 1872 & Mary Mare born 1875, Both born in St. Louis, Mo. They were found in the 1880 census in St Louis, Mo . John R Mare & Nannie Mare had four children born in St Louis, Mo. My grandmother Eleanor Louise Mare, a brother John R . Mare Jr born 1888 St Louis. Mo & another brother & sister whos names are unknown.
I was told Eleanor was the oldest so they probably were born between 1890 & 1893/4 in St Louise, my great grandfather John R. Mare was found in Dallas, Tx in the 1900 census. In 1910 in Cherokee,Tx.
His father & mother were found in the 1900 census in St Louise. His father was a carpenter & he was a clerk at the age of 16 in St. Louis, Mo. He became a Ordaine Baptist Minister in Tx, He married my grand mother Eleanor Louise Mare & Marion Maupin Duke. I have seen many Mare's in Tx & Mo & all over the unitied states. I know there are Mare's in Tx & Mo that are descendants of this Mare lines & i'm hoping they will see this posting & respond to it. My e mail is nanver819@cs.com.

I am interested in any information the surname Mare in the Brooklyn, New York area.

My husband's grandfather's mother last name was Mare. She supposedly died either giving birth to him, William McDonnell, or when he was very young. He was born about 1896 in Brooklyn, New York, we believe.

William McDonnell and his father John McDonnell were living with "Aunt Sarah Cook" (probably John's sister) and her family in Brooklyn, New York in 1910 and in 1920 William was still living with them.

MARE from Cherokee for moon lake?

1790 census, Northhampton, NC, there was a group of 6 households under the name MERRYMOON. 1800 they were MAREMOON. One of these 1890 six has to be my ancester and I am looking for any and all tidbits of info. There is no message board for MERRYMOON or MAREMOON name. As names evolved down though the years I am looking at every possible board.
The 1790 Kiziah Merrymoon may be the Kiziah married 1792 at Pendleton to Joseh Hand.

there are many Maré's in south africa - all from one immigrant - apparently from calabria in italy - but of french ancestry - I toured and searched france and italy and found the name in aosta, milan etc.- I believe most immigrated to canada

I am doing research on my husbands family for our children. His Grandfather was James Mares, born Dec. 19, 1875 in Chicago died June 16,1971. He was married (May 7, 1898) to Annie Schreiber born Aug. 14, 1879 in Chicago died Sept. 7, 1968. (Married for 70 years can you believe it)
James Mares parents came from Czechoslovakia to the US in 1871. Father: Joseph Mares, Mother: Mary.

Hello, i know you wanted to find out more about your Mare side of the family, well im a mare althoughi don't know if we're related in some distant way. i'm absolutly fascinated about this stuff. i now live in the uk where i was born but my parents came here from italy. all my family in gact are in italy but it is not a very common surname back there. To anyone named Mare: The name 'Mare' seems to have originated in Belgium, or at least it did in my family, where it definitly means 'pool, 'lake', 'sea'. The name, however, is French, not Belgian. Here is more information on the NYC Mare family. Vito Mare married Grace Russo and had 5 girls and 1 boy. The girls are Filomena, Theresa, Rose, Margarette, Angela and Eleanor. Theresa died when she was 16 (1920).Angela and Eleanor are the only sisters still alive. Angie is 93 and Eleanor is 83. The both live in Oceanside, CA. Pasquale was the only son, and he died in 1967. My mom is not familar with the Toni (Antonia) who married a Stankevich. Vitos other brothers were Michael, Joseph, and Micaelangelo. I am descended from a NYC Mare family.
My grandfather Giuseppe was born in 1883
in SanFele Italy, near Bari; he came to NYC
around turn of the 20th century; married
a widow Rosa (Rinaldi) Tomasula who had three children...Daniel, Frank and Natalie.
They had my dad Pasquale and uncle Phillip.
Giuseppe's dad (my great grandfather) Pasquale was married to Filomena (forgot her last name). He was murdered in a dispute over a boundary marker. Giuseppe had a brother named Vito (probably other brothers and sisters). Some of Vito's children were Filomena (born 1896, died 1983 in Encinitas, CA), Eleanor Mare and maybe a few others I can't remember. I think Vito had a daughter Toni (antonia?) who married a Stankevich;
