Hi Johnny, while looking for Davila ancestry, I noticed on your research you had a name "Vicente Garcia
Davila." Can you please tell me how Vicente fits in your ancestry line. My grandfather was Vicente Davila whose family was at some point in time from Brownsville. He married Teresa Garcia Davila...and if I am not mistaken, his middle name was Garcia too. They also has some family in Mercedes TX and Matamoros. He worked in the King Ranch until he died. Is there any relation? please write at gglamar@aol.com. Your research is very impressive.

I am the first grand-daughter of Gonzalo and Ines Montecino Marichalar. My grandfather died 8/22/1959. My grandmother Ines died 9/1/1985. Their children are/were: William, (died 4/2004? ), Gilbert, Vera Najera, Linda Luna, Sally, Alice, Gonzalo, Jr, (died 7/5/1970) and Daniel.
I was just discussing our family tree just yesterday at my mom's home in Gilory, CA We know that my grandfather Gonzalo's mother was Anastacia, Gonzalo's father was not Marichalar but Sanchez. His mother died and he and his siblings were raised by their grandmother who named all the children with her last name of Marichalar. My grandfather's mother had children from different men. We think my grandfather was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He had brothers David, Joe, and Daniel. One sister, Esperanza. Call me or email me anytime. I think you spoke with my Aunt Maggie, married to my uncle Gilbert. She may have been angry with your calls (please don't take offense) The other person who is probably communicating with you is my cousin, Lisa, daughter of Daniel.
I would like to get as much info on my grandparents. This is the time before my aunts and uncles pass on.
I can be reached 408-998-4591 or email. Thanks for all your hardwork so far. I am Joanne Luna Vermy. I live in San Jose. Merry Christmas!

Thanks for responding Johnny.

I am searching for mymMontecino roots for the last 7 yearsl and I found out 3 months ago I had a cousin named Inez Montecino who married a Marichalar in California. I do not have a first name on Marichalar. Therefore, if you can provide me with the names of her children-it will surely help me find a way to contact one of them to verify if we are related. I have a funny feeling Inez and family is it missing person(s) on my tree.

Thanks so much and I would appreciate what you can give me on Inez children.

Jimmy Garcilazo

Hi Jimmy,
I have Ines Montecino as being married to Gonzalo Marichalar. Most of the data I got from various vital records and death records from California. I don't have any data on Ines herself. I do have data on hers and Gonzalo's children.
I am not sure this is of any help to you, but I am more to willing to help in any way I can.
Johnny

Jimmy, Sorry for the delay in responding. I hope Yolanda and her cousins will also be able to help.
Here is what I have on Inez Montecino: On one of these Marichalar Boards, Steven indicated that his Grandmother was Inez Montecino from Sweetwater,Texas, she was married to Gonzalo Marichalar.
I was researching California birth and death records and found a parent to Marichalar children listed as Ines Montecino. I later found Ines on the death record and her birth was Jan 21, 1912, death September 1, 1985. In other obits from California, I found her husband Gonzalo listed as someones siblilng along with his wife.
I found some of the children:
Jennie 7Jul1945-28 Nov 1945
Jesse7Jul 1945-26Nov 1945
Nellie26June1941-27June1941
Gonzalo Jr. 3 Nov 1946-5 Jul 1970
On birth records with Montecino mother and Marichalar father:
Alicia
Daniel
Emerlinda
Gonzalo
Tacha
I would prefer not put the birthdates up on these as I know some are still living.
Inez's Social Security Number is:566-50-9837. She is listed as Ines F. Marichalar on the death cert and SS app.
You can order a copy of her SS application and it will have her place of Birth, date of birth, father, mother's maiden name and sometimes other important data. We used to get these copies at $7.00 each, but last year they raised the price to $27.00. Inez applied for her SS# in California in 1955.
That is all I have. I would prefer you get the birthdates from someone in her direct family unless we know for sure they are deceased and I have them. I hope this is useful to you.
Would appreciate you share any data from them.
Johnny

Connecting all the Marichalars together

OK Primos, my frustrations are beginning to show. I know there are family connections out there that you aren't posting on here and without them we cannot tie us together. I have posted all the data I have and as I come across it. I also know that our parents and grandparents were not too forthcoming with some of the family tree information. So how do we "FIND EACH OTHER??"
I am thinking of building a "Private" Marichalar family website. It would be password protected. You can only log in with a user ID and password. One or two of us would be responsible to issuing the invites for people to log on. To get on, you would have to be a Marichalar family member or married to one. Your name would have to be on one of the family trees we have so far or a new one as it becomes available. I would transfer all the family trees I have todate to the new site. Maybe then you would be willing to provide some more family information and not worry about everybody else getting to it.
I would ask Yolanda to help me administrate the new site and maybe another of you, if anyone else is interested. I haven't even asked Yolanda yet, but I am sure she would be willing to help on this. We would do all the work, you only need to give us your data. Some of you have provided a lot already and with that we have made quite a few connections, but we aren't done yet.
I can only do this if enough of you want to participate and help. Let me know by posting a reply here or contact me directly:
JohnnySanchez@compuserve.com
To do this I will need each of your names and e-mail addresses. If I start this, I would let everyone who is on the site know everytime a new "member" is invited.
It would always be private for family members only.
Think about it and let me know, I really would like this to be the year we "find" each other.
Johnny

Hi Prima,
I did finally read your messages. Mulatos is a strange name for a town/village. I will also look into this.
I have some data on the Sadas, I will send it to you by e-mail so you will know what we already have and won't duplicate anything.
Thanks for the intent on Francisco Xavier. I will take anything on him. You are right, there has to be data on him on some of the baptism or marriage records for his children. I have a book Protocolos de Cadereyta Nuevo Leon. And in it, Maria Gertrudis's father Maneul De Sada had his will prepared and he mentioned his hijo politico Francisco Xavier Marichalar from Navarra, Espania. Unfortunately that book is still in my shipment of goods and hasn't arrived here yet. I expect that be here at the end of February.
Thanks for telling where your cousins are, I can start sorting them out.
Take care,
Johnny

As most of you are becoming aware of, We have been able to make definite connections to each other...Some of the "loose" members are seeing the whole branches of the Marichalar tree...
I am also starting to call around and talk to some of you or a member of your family..
I am asking if you would kindly send me photos of you, your family members, present and past...I would in kind send you photos of my branch so that we can get to know one another..
Also if you allow me I would eventually post them on the Marichalar website I have started and am presently posting data on...I had mentioned this in a previous post and got positive response from a lot of you....Once I get the site up and running I will let you know and you can log on...
If you can send me photos by e-mail use:

JohnnySanchez@compuserve.com

If you want to mail by snail mail, send me and e-mail message and I will give you my address....
Thanks and hope to hear from you...
Johnny Marichalar Sanchez

Yoli,
It is the baptismal record of Mariana Josefa Guadalupe Trinidad Trillo Marichalar....She is the daughter of Jose Joaquin Marichalar and Maria de Jesus Trillo....The date of baptism matches the data I already had... You did come up with Jose Joaquin's parents and Maria de Jesus's parents....
This is ours....You are OK on this....
I found a lot more Zuloaga Marichalar family...married into Carreon with more children...and I found Trillo married into Guerra and more children for Zuloaga Marichalar-Ramires familly...Also Marichalar Franco children....
I am updating the trees and will send to you as soon I get it done....
I think the site will be good, hope to have it running within the week...The hard part is just the time consuming updates to the trees.....
You take care.....Hope the family is doing good..My love to all.
Johnny

Hello, I had sent a picture of a young Ezekiel Marichalar and
my mother wrote on the back of the picture, cousin and
Maria Samineago to a Kim and David who are also grandchildren of Ezekiel, but I never got a response from them, as to whether the young Ezekiel was their grandfather
or not. Ezekiel and my mother would have been first cousins.

Hello,
My name is Patrice Marichalar. I check on these message boards occasionally to see if there is anyone I know writing. Unfortunately I've never heard of any of you. I know we are supposed to be related somehow because we all have the name Marichalar. I am from San Jose, CA. I don't know if you are referring to Maggie Marichalar kids or Amelias. My grandparents were Amelia Marichalar and Joseph Marichalar (Big Joe???). Any way if you know how you'd be related to me email me at pmbrown97@yahoo.com

Searching for Ines Montecino Marichalar children

I am currently creating a family tree of 'The Montecino Family' from Irapuato Guanajuato Mexico. I am insearch of fthe children of Ines Montecino (b. 1912) who married Gonzalo Marichalar (b. 1907). Ines was born in Sweetwater, Texas and died in California. It appeared she was survived by children who are now adults. In order to help complete my project, finding Ines children will be a blessing. Once they are found, I would like to contact them to advise that they have many cousins who are waiting to meet them as well as invite them to our 'Montecino Family Reunion' held in Chicago, Illinois in August. Thank you so much. Any information, please email me directly at jgarcilazo@yahoo.com.

Hello Johnny, sorry it took so long to write to you. But I had
a family crisis and I was either at the hospital or at work. But
our family came together and we knew how much we loved
each other because of this crises. And we all got closer to
our Lord. I am glad that you finally got the Marichalar Website
going. I wish I did have old pictures to share but I will work
on it on my spare time, that I do not much of. I promised
you a Christmas present and I have not forgotten. I also think
I came upon a hitch on the Marichalar/Trillo and the Zuloaga/
Trillo union. I thought I had the baptismal record of Marianna
Trillo 1814 and I thought she was the sister of Maria de Jesus
Trillo , but I fear they are not. I lost a generation somewhere
and now I will have to go back. I hope you will get this message. Yolanda

Hi Johnny.

I happen to come across your tree line and notice that you listed a family member named 'Ines Montecino' 1912-1985. Can you explain how Ines was related to you? Also, what information do you know/have on her such as, name of her parents, what part of Mexico was she from? Her children (if any) names? I am conducting a family search on my Montecino side of the family of California. Ines might be a relative of mine.
Hi Johnny, I am not sure you got my last message on the message board, but the word Mulatos is the name of a village
near Ojinaga. I found it when I was searching the history of
Ojinaga and it mentioned many battles and the villiage of
Mulatos. I also have been reading a book "The Great Rebellion" and in it , it mentions the Sada name as a very powerful family.Quote"A small band of enterprising Mexican families _Sada, Garza,Calderon, Muguerza, and Milmo-
eventually interrelated by marriage, not only controlled the commerce and small industries of Monterrey but also one of the steel mills."Unquote. That is pretty cool, right? And I made
a couple of trips to the Mormon History library and it is still
on an unsual holiday schedule and the reg. schedule will begin in Feb. and I will order the baptismal record of Franco.
Marichalar. It will be my Christmas present to you and your
family from me. I have been so,so, busy and tired. I will stay
in touch as much as possible , I believe starting a private
family webb site may be a good thing. but remember that
I have to borrow my computer from my cousin to communicate with you which is difficult at times because of
our work schedules. I also found out that there are still
Zuloagas still living in El Paso but no Marichalar. My cousins
from Texas live in Coyonosa. Odessa, and Monahans. Talk
to you later.
Hi Johnny, just got a few minutes to say I know what Mulatos
is on that baptismal. It is that name of a small village out
side of Ojinaga MX. I found it looking up the history of Ojinaga
where my grandmother Adelaida was born and it mentions
a battle engaged there and Mulatos. Talk to you later Yoli.

Glad your trip and transition went well. I first want to say that
I am not frustrated but worried about the lack of interest in the
search , the slow down came about the time the webb site
made some changes and it took me a few times to realize
that I was not locked out of the webb site. Anyway, I came
across a portrait of Felix Zuloaga, my gggrandmother Petra's
brother and a famous painter named Ignacio Zuloaga, you
may want to look at his paintings, they are quite interesting.
All I did was enter the name and hit search next to the webb
address window on yahoo or aol. I would love to have a picture
of Petra Zuloaga Marichalar. I feel her older children's descendants may have priceless pictures and do not know e
the history. I noticed that Felix has curly hair and Ignacio
looks exactly like my uncle Gilbert, it is uncanny. Well I hope
if you find time you will look up Ignacio Zuloaga and check out his work. I also saw a picture of Gen Madero who after
chasing Petra's family out of their hacienda Madero moved
in his family in hiss, hiss! It is late, I will fax that baptismal
record , maybe you will have better luck with it then I have.
God bless , love Yolanda

I am concerned that there has been no communications from
anyone lately. It seems thsat only Johnny and I are still working
on our family connection. Please do not lose hope.Johnny, I
hope your trip went well. Since the only access to a fax
machine I have is at a fax store , I can offer to fax on a day
and time agreed by both of us. But I cannot e-mail, then
leave to a fax store. If next Sunday Dec 2nd 4PM Pacific
standard time is Ok then let me know. Yolanda. Oh by the
way I was excited to find an ancester named Ignacio Zuloaga
who was a famous artist. I found him on yahoo and aol just
by entering his name and I got to see his painting. And what
is stranger , is that he looks like my Uncle Gilbert, and other
Marichalar family members, so that tells me that the Zuloaga outward appearance may be dominant but I have not seen
a picture of Luis Marichalar yet.And another thing I have other
artist in the family , one just had a showing recently in LA.
I could not attend because of my health. But I got to see
pictures. Now I know where the talent comes from. I want
to know where our red hair, freckles,my grandmother played
the guitar, I had two aunts that played the piano(no lessons), my grandmother had thick wire curly hair, she
could hardly get a brush threw it and my cousin has the same
kind of hair, the women are taller than most Mexican women
5'5'' to 5'10'', all my uncles are great cooks. The rest of my aunts and uncles had natural curly hair. But the fact that
my uncle Gilbert looks like Ignacio Zuloago is uncanny. And
all my aunts had great voices and so do a couple of my
cousins. So as you see, I want to know more than dates
on our ancesters. Does any of this sound familiar? I hope
to hear from anyone soon. I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.....Yolanda

Reply to Ophelia and Yolanda

Ophelia, Yolanda,
Given what you two provided previously, especially from Yolanda on the Trillo and Zuloaga names, I have been able to connect to Francisco Xavier Marichalar, the first Marichalar in Mexico and Maria Gerturdis de Sada. They married in 1798 in Monterrey. Gertrudis is the from the Sada y Guerra family and I have the family also. Yolanda, you had previously told me that Jose de Jesus Trillo m. Maria Petra Zuloaga and was the father of Jose Luis Apolinar who married Victoria. Jose de Jesus' parents were Jose Joaquin Marichalar and Maria de Jesus Trillo. I believe this is the Jose Joaquin born in1827 in Cadereyta to Juan Marichalar Sada(born 1803) and Maria Renteria. Juan M. Sada is the son of Francisco Xavier Marichalar and Maria Gertrudis Sada. Jose Joaquin had at least 2 brothers and one sister. One of the brothers was Manuel Rodrigo Marichalar, born 1829 in Cadereyta and I believe he was the father of Francisco Marichalar, born 1859. This is my direct line. Manuel married Enemencia Bocanegra and had at least one son. Francisco is my GGreat Grandfather. Francisco married a Dolores Sanchez. Manuel later on went by Manuel S. Marichalar.
Please contact me for the rest of the names and data. I haven't posted some of this yet as trying to verify it. I previously sent you a couple of e-mails.
Johnny
JohnnySanchez@compuserve.com

Yolanda,
Which Marichalar did you trace to Spain??
The only one I was sure of was Francisco Xavier Marichalar who got married in 1798. If there was a marriage in 1801, then there must have been another in Mexico in that time frame. I also have the record that says 1801 marriage, but the births of the children lead me to believe it is in error. I'll have to go look at the data I have again. If you haven't already looked at the gen report I posted for Francisco, please do and see if one of his sons could fit the bill.
Johnny

Hi Primos, I have tied all these names together which also takes in most of the names you have posted on this board. I have asked Yolanda to review what I have before posting it, I should have it on line here shortly.
It appears that we have two distinct Marichalar lines, one from Monterrrey, Nuevo Leon and that includes, Cerralvo and Cadereyeta and the other line is the Chihuahua, Chihuahua line with the names of Trillo, Zuloaga, tying into Luis Marichalar and Victoria SAnchez and also brings in the Chavez and Licon/Lecon too.
I'll post as soon as I hear from Yolanda.

Yolie,
I'll send you the whole story, I have it in both English and Spanish.
Yes, I did see your message on Jesus. I have that union listed under the Chihuahua Marichalars on this board. I will send to you this week. I will be starting to shut down over the coming weekend, I'll leave e-mail up as long as possible. I am getting to move to Hawaii for a year. My other half is in the Naval Reserves and was called to Active Duty and is being assigned to Pearl Harbor. I talked my company into transferring me to Honolulu for a year. I am taking all my genealogy stuff with me, but will start packing it away in a few days.
Johnny

I have all these people in one family living together in Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas in the 1870 census. I have not yet been able to connect them to anyone I know or have been in cummunications with. Please go over the names carefully and see if any of you can recognize someone on this list. I'll list the data I have on them below.
(no first name) Marichalar b.abt 1825 in Mex
Antonio Marichalar b.abt 1848 in Mex
Luciano Marichalar b.abt 1863 in Tex
Pedro Marichalar b.abt 1860 in Tex
Niterio Marichalar b.abt 1854 in Tex attends stock
Paula Marichalar b.abt 1862 in Tex
Margarita Marichalar b.abt 1865 in Tex
Sista Marichalar b.abt 1867 in Tex

If you can identify anyone here, please post it or contact me directly.
JohnnySanchez@compuserve.com

Thanks,
Johnny

OK, I think I have partially solved this one. I think this is the family of Victoriano (Jose Victoriano Marichalar b. 9/11/1854). THis appears to be his silblings and half brothers and sisters. Jose Victoriano's parents were Pedro Jose Feliciano Marichalar Sada and Maria Leonor Garcia.
This Jose Victoriano married Maria Carmen Gonzaelz in 1876 and at least two of their children were Jose Marichalar b. 3/19/1883 and Pedro Marichalar b. 10/03/1885.
I have a Maria Juana Marichalar and an Antonio Marichalar both born in 1848 in this family. Jose Victoriano had a brother named Pedro b. 1860.
I believe Pedro Jose Feliciano Marichalar Sada was married at least 3 times.
1---Maria Antonio de Uribe (Garza?)
Children: Dolores Delfina de la Garza 12/16/1827
Presiliana Genoveva 1/18/1830
2---Maria Leonor Garcia
Children: Maria Agapita Marichalar Garcia 9/30/1838
Jose Francisco Jerardo Marichalar Garcia 10/15/1840
Maria Juana Marichalar 12/30/1848
Ramona Marichalar 8/12/1851
Jose Victoriano 9/11/1854
Exdoxia Maricana 11/09/1857

I have other loose names which I'll post later. Can anyone help with some of these names?
Johnny
Johnny, I know by the time you get this message you are
most likely on your way. I am glad to hear you will still keep
in touch. I would like to fax some papers of a baptismal
record on Marianna Josepha Guadalupe Trenidad Marichalar
daughter of Dn Jose Joaquin Marichalar and Da Ma de Jesus Trillo . Abuelos paternos Dn Antonio de Marichalar
y Da Franca Salavarnia. And it mentions something on the
"reyno" (kingdom?) of Navarra Spain , that is on the Don and
on the Da it mentions something on the universidads of the
province of Guipuscua Spain. And something on Da Esto-
fanna Maria Trillo. So when you get settled in we can find
a way to fax this document. Have a safe trip. I thought that
I would mention that I have a cousin in the Navy that is now
serving his country near the war zone. I have written to him
and told him to get on line on this web site when he can.
Good Luck Yo

Sanchez
I also have someone named Maria Gorgonia, I have no clue
who this person is but she would be a 4. And I hope that
Ophelia will make the corrections to the Annatacia line. Every
thing I listed is a correction or addition. I have to research more. Do you need for me to go to the 7th generation?
You did a good job, I am still waiting for the film I ordered
so that we can find the connection. I have alot of nick names
and I answer to all of them. Jo, Jolie, Yolie, Yo...Bye, Bye

Johnny, this is great news, but the Jose Joaquin Marichalar
and Maria de Jesus Trillo were married in 1801, so he could
not have been born in 1827 . I believe we are close. And I
traced Marichalar back to Pantolona Spain (Basque country). I copied your message and I will review it further. YO

Ophelia, I made an error by stating that Gilbert(Monchie)was
your uncle, when according to a family history given to me in
1986 by Vera, you and Gilbert are cousins, I think I made the
same mistake when I wrote to a Patrice. I will have to study
the family line more carefully.I believe this is how our family
lineagegoes:
Jose Joaquin Marichalar marries Maria de Jesus Trillo (1801)
Jose de Jesus Trillo Marichalar(1808) marries Petra Zuloaga
Jose Luiz Apolinar Zuloaga Marichalar(1848) marries Victoria
Sanchez
They gave birth to my grandmother Adelaida Marichalar(1895)
I hope to hear from you soon. Yolanda
