No, I was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland, but I'm 100% sure I am related to the Carol Habighurst you are looking for. There are very few people named Habighurst in the US. If you do find her tell her about the coincidence of the same name I wish someone from that part of the family would contact me.

Thank you

Hi Adeline,
He was actually in Tonga from 1806 to 1810 and wrote several books after his return to England. See wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Mariner_(writer) You can read his book online at http://books.google.com/books?id=oz5CAAAAIAAJ&printsec=f... and there are lots of mentions of him in other books.

Regards

Debra

I am looking for info on my ggrandmother and her family that lived in Philadelphia,pa. Annie Mariner b abt.1871 married Bernhardt Kretschman. Her parents died young and it's possible her brother (James?) had to sign his permission for her to marry. Her father's name could be Patrick (or Joseph -there is some confusion about generations) I found a reference on Rita's tree to a Patrick Mariner and his wife Anna McCabe but can't verify anything. Any info would be great. I'm planning to be in Philly so any suggestions for searching would be appreciated also. Fran

Hi there,
I was a little surprised and delighted to receive your letter.
I am a Mariner by marriage and my husbands family are very plain people, working the land mostly and not a sailor among them apart from my husbands father James who joined the royal navy in the war and my husband Tony who was in the Royal Navy when we meet.
The Mariner family is all over the British Isles and I hate to put a damper on your search but you could try the name of the ship and its records also the area from where it sailed from.
We are Mariners from the South of England near to Portsmouth which is a naval town, the family roots are from London moved down south to Winchester.
I have a number of William Mariners within my data base and I would love to help you and say yes I had heard the story, but alas that is not so,I would how ever love to know more of the story and its out come, dont give up hope and stick with it you may get lucky and find some one who knows the story in more detail.
I wish you all the luck in the world, and hope fully you will have some more details soon, please come back to me any time. Yours Jill Mariner.

Hi, my name is Adeline Mariner Avia. I'm married thats why I have that Avia last name. But anyways, I'm looking for my mother side of the family. We are going to be having a big Mariner family reunion some time this year, I know theirs alot of the Mariners out there, in England, America, Tonga, Samoa.. The Mariner name is originally from England as I was told...It all started some time in the 1900s "I think" Im not lying..about a shipwreck that happen in Tonga, Their was one survivor his name was "William Mariner" the youngers shipman who was found in deck of the ship..he got taken in by the tongan Tribe and chief Ulukalape, because Will Mariner was young, chief Ulukalape decided to take him as his own son...They gave him the title of The younges boy chief, they tought him how to fish and everything about the plantation. He went out with the chiefs daughter her name is "Mele", she fell pregnant with his child. With Will not knowing she was pregnant, the london ship came back for him. He decided to go back home where he belongs, where he died..As for Mele, she gave birth to a boy and she name him after his father "William Mariner". He travelled to The island of Western Samoa and started a whole new line of the Mariner family..So if theres any one out there in England, who knows anything about this story i need to know, the history and how I became the person i am today because of that one man.."William Mariner"...I now live in Australia in Sydney, and thiers heaps of us out here and New Zealand too...this is very important to me...

Josue-Joshua-Joseph Marriner was the son of Rev. John Marriner and his first wife, Elizabeth. Josue had nine children born in Boston, then moved to Charles Town, SC, where he died in 1737. It appears that some of his family moved back to Boston, after his death.
I am very interested in what you have on your family. Please share.

Pam,
I found the Civil War listing for George Washington Mariner at http://www.shenessex.heartland.net/vets/alpham.html. It also lists his wife as Elizabeth Wright and his parents as Orin Mariner and Hannah York. His children are also listed. The daughter, Marie Johnson, is the ggrandmother of my daughter-in-law and I'm trying to put together a genealogy for her. Do you have any more information of this family? Thank you.
Kathy Lane: klane@3rivers.net

Jim,
I'm trying to find out if you have any other information on George Washington Mariner, born 1847 in Illinois. I have a Civil War Veterens listing that has his father and mother as Orin and Hannah (York) Mariner. His wife was Elizabeth Wright. This is a gggrandfather of my daughter-in-law, and I'm trying to put together a genalogy for her. Hs children listed are Frank, George, W.O.,Margaret, Florence, and Marie. The site is: http://www.shenessex.heartland.net/vets/alpham.html.
My e-mail address is klane@3rivers.net, not the montanavision address. Thank you.

Mary Mariner is the last in the line of my Mariners of which I have yet to get any information on. Mary married James Lunn (baptised 6 Feb 1711 in Crondall). June 6, 1736 in Crondall the parish registers back then gave very little information and are quite difficult to read. Therefore all I can go on is the assumption that she was from the Crondall area and baptised hopefully around 1711 - if she was baptised at all.

Thanks for the info on Orin Mariner; it fills in some of the vitals that I did not have. I did have his parents and ancestry in general for three or four generations, and I do have some children listed. His birthdate matched the one I had, but the year was off by one year (I had 1816). I am not a direct descendant of his, but rather of his grandfather, Captain Ephraim Mariner. I am looking to tie in a Mariner acquaintance who seems to have several Orin Mariners in her ancestry, possibly beginning with this one.
