So sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner.
I very rarely see any one in the family.
However, I did stop by Auntie Edie's (3rd oldest) yesterday she was not home.
I can give you her and Margaret's (Oldest child) contact info. I think they are the two most likely to know the Anniversary date of Grandma & Grandpa, I am sure they would be willing to share information with you & Donny.
I just don't think I should put the info here. I am not sure how safe these sites are, as I had just begun a search for my Paternal Grandparents history when I found your request from several years ago. I am also curious now about John & Bertha as well. I always thought Grandpa was from Canada! Anyway, any ideas on how I can get the contact info to you safely, let me know. Hope all is well, Janis

Nice to meet you as well! I am John & Bertha's oldest Grandaughter, my Mother was thier 5th child also named Bertha.
When I was very young we lived with them on and off.
When I was 10 my mother remarried and her husband bought a 3 family home.(1967) We lived on the first floor.
Grandma & Grandpa lived on the second with thier 2 youngest Sons and my Mothers youngest sister Pearl lived on the third floor. I miss them.
I am very curious about the granchild who is looking for them. It could only be one of 3 boys, my mothers brother Donald had, when he divorced, thier mother moved away with them.I remember one was named Donny, and I remember playing with them before they moved away. Have you been in touch with the person who's message I replied too?
Grandma had a few siblings I never met, so please tell me more about yourself and your family. I often wish I had learned more about them.

My name is Janis, Bertha and John Marques were my Grandparents. Although, they had many Grandchildren I was not aware any of them except 1 female child was born outside of Rhode Island.

my name is steven marques, i dont know much about my grandfather but his name was Herman Eugene Marques. i dont know if he had any brothers but he lived and died in georgia. he was in the navy during ww2 and was stationed at pearl harbor after the attack. dont even know if they are related but my grandfather was born in 1917 and died i 1990. if you know anything else i would love to hear it. not even sure if they are related but its been a dead end at him.

Scott Marques is also my great grandfather! Scott & Mary had eleven children, one of whom John Newton Marques, was my grandfather. How are you linked to Scott? I have solid research that identifies Scott's father as Sidney Scott Marquis (1825-1912), his grandfather as Robert A. Marquis (1789-1872),his great grandfather as Samuel A. Marquis (1761-1845), and his gr-gr-grandfather as Robert Marquis (1725-1786).

Adolwando M. Marques

Looking for family of Adolwando M. Marques (born August 7, 1930s in Brazil). He has a brother named Edmilson (sp?), another named Hilton, another brother and two sisters. In the States, he went by "Marques." He married Carolyn Hale in West Virginia. They had two sons - Hilton Gregory Marques and Rodney Marques. Adolwando passed away about 1975 while on a work trip in the Ivory Coast, Africa; Rodney Marques passed away about 1986; and Carolyn Hale passed away about 1997.

Hilton Marques now lives in Texas, is married, and has 2 sons. With all his immediate family gone, we're having trouble tracing his family back to Brazil. We currently have no contacts whatsoever on that side of the family.

I can give you lots of information on the Chenette/Comeau family. Which child of Bertha is your husband related to? As I said earlier, I know Bertha had 11 children. I only met a couple of them and only know the names of two or three. Eventhough they are my first cousin's I am at the younger end of the family so we are a couple of generations apart. Thank you for answering. Yes, Bertha was my husband's grandmother. I only met her once, back in 1988. I am trying to find out about the family. I am interested in finding out whatever I can. I have a copy of her social security application, so I know her parents were Frank Chenette and her mother was Marie Comeau (Corneau?). Any thing that you could help with would be very much appreciated.

Bertha Marques/Marquis from Warwick, RI was my father's older sister. She died in 1991 and her husband died in the 1970s, so I guess she is the one you are looking for. I met her a number of times but didn't know her well. Did you say she was your husband's grandmother? I'd be happy to share what I know.

TULSA, Okla. - Delois Mae “Penny” Coleman Marques, 65, of Tulsa, formerly of Springfield, died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at her home.

She was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Tulsa, the daughter of Frank and Ethel Israel. She married Larry Marques.

Mrs. Marques graduated from Central High School in 1958. She was a nurse’s aide and licensed practical nurse and earned a registered nurse degree in Illinois.

Survivors: husband, Larry; two daughters, Roselie (husband, Rick) Weller and Dede Marques; six grandchildren; and mother, Ethel Israel Coleman.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Fellowship Congregational Church, Tulsa. Burial: 1 p.m. Monday, Fort Gibson (Okla.) National Cemetery.

Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home in Tulsa is in charge of arrangements.

What island are you on?

During one of our last trips there we also found Gonsalves decendants that are related to my mother.

It's a small world.

My husband is of the Marques family line and may be related to you. Please send me more information as we are not sure how. His grandfather was Edward Marques born on the Big Island. His father was Joseph Marques they had a number of children but we know very little about this family.

My aunt was Bertha (Chenette) Marques from Rhode Island, and she died in 1991. I don't know much about her other than she and her husband had 11 children. We rarely saw that part of the family except for funerals, weddings, etc. If you would like to know more post a message, and I'd be happy to share what little I know.

Mrs Anna Marks, wife of the late Antonio S. Marks of Hollister, died yesterday in Gilroy. Mrs Marks was the mother of Mrs. Joe Mattos, of Hollister. Funeral Services will be held Saturday Morning at 9 o'clock from the Black and Cooper Mortuary in Hollister. Mass will be said at the Sacred Heart Church at 9:30 o'clock.

June 13, 1942 ......... Funeral services were held this morning for Mrs. Anna Marks. She was 60 years of age. The deceased was the wife of the late Antonio S. Marks. She was the mother of Mayme Mattos; grandmother of Wm., Joe Jr, Lillian Garcia and Tiny Mattos; Great grandmother of Geraldine Mattos, Lillian Gomes, Anthony Garcia Jr. and Eugene Allen Mattos.

Two sisters: Mrs. Mary Fontes and Mrs Mayme Wilmoth are residents of Salinas and another sister, Mrs. Emily Hadler, lives in Vallejo.

Three brothers also survive; Frank Phillips of San Jose and Joe and Manuel Phillips of Santa Maria.

Mrs. Marks was a native California and for many years was active in the work of the Lemore Lodge UPEEC and of the APRI lodge. Six Friends bore the flower decked coffin; Manuel Medeiros, Tom Freitas, A. G. Silva, Joe Silva, Joe Vallejo, and Manuel Garcia.

Eugenia P. Marques

1941-2003

Eugenia "Jean" Parish Marques, 62 of Cheyenne died Aug. 26 at Cheyenne
Health Care Center.

She was born March 21, 1941, in Richmond, Calif.

She married Eugene Marques on Dec. 20, 1960.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Ladies Auxiliary of VFW
Post No. 1881, of which she was also past president and chaplain.

She is survived by two sons, Steven Marques of Cheyenne and Bernard Marques
of Elko, Nev.; a daughter, Sissy Larimore of Star Valley; four brothers, Frank
Parish of El Sobrante, Calif., Clyde Jones and Dennis Jones, both of
Weatherford, Texas, and Bernard Jones of Elko; two sisters, Jeanette Cranmore
of Cheyenne and Donna Gosvener of Vacaville, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Marques on Nov. 3, 1977;
her father, Frank Parish; her mother, Tommy Jo Jones; stepfather, Bernard Ike
Jones; a brother, Bill Parish; and a sister, Mary Lou Jones.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Schrader Chapel with Father
Ray Moss and the Rev. Mr. Pat Bradley officiating.

Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Larimore, David Weekly, Dennis Abreu, George
Cranmore, Buck Jones, Teddy Weekly, Jason Jones, Justin Parish, Rankin
Jeffries, Travis Larimore, Dustin Pixley and Jimmy Simmers.

Friends may contribute to Meals on Wheels or American Diabetes Association.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.

Scott Marques & Mary Clark were my g grandparents, also. My grandmother was Ruth Marques Hoffman, born Effingham Co., Illinois. She was sister to your Annette, whom I met many years ago when I was very, very young.
You are the first contact I've been able to make with the Marques part of my family. Thank you so much for your reponse. I am unable to find the names of Scott's parents. Do you have that info.? Also, would like to verify dates I've gathered here and there. Also, have some verbal history that my Mom shared with me if you are interested in that. I tried to email you at the address shown on the board @msn.com; but for some reason, it kept bouncing back. Maybe you can email me direct. I must be doing something wrong????

Michele,I've been trying to find information on Marques. My great grandmother was nodesa marques and all I know is that she came from Spain many years ago. I'm from Yoakum Texas but my father's grandmother Nodesa moved to Mexico from Spain. She married a Torres and eventually the family moved to Texas. Is the Marques name Spanish or Portugues?Please send me a reply if you can.
