My great-grandfather Pasquale Marsella was a brother to Antonio Marsella, father of Vincenzo Marsella.

My great-grandfather came to the US in the 1880's settling first in Providence, then moving to Philadelphia.

I'm helping a friend trace her family, also from San Giovanni Incarico. Her grandfather was Vincenzo Marsella, also known as "James" when he settled in Providence, Rhode Island, by 1920 (maybe earlier).

Perhaps your grandmother Victoria was his sister or other relative?

They think he immigrated to the U.S. around 1904 and his wife, Teresa Malandrini, who was born in Orbetello, Grosseto, Italy, came a couple of years (or so?) later with their oldest son, Virgilio.

Before he left Italy, he was reportedly in the Italian Army with a Malandrini boy, which is how he is said to have met Teresa.

I found a WWI enlistment card for him that says he was a "declared alien" and worked for the Stillwater Worsted Co. where he was a worsted weaver.

They lived in Providence for awhile, owning a restaurant, Fiume, then moved to the Syracuse, NY, area by 1930.

Where did your Marsella-related family end up?

I think my grandfather Giovanni Marsella (later John) is from SantAppollonara- He settled in MA. He came to the US in 1912 at age 15. Maybe a relative of yours??

Hello, I'm Enrico Marsella I come from Pico province of Frosinone, maybe your great-grandfather, could be the brother of my great-great grandfather named Giuseppe Marsella you do not have any reference document, at that time Pico was the province of Caserta.

Actually, the relation is through my mother's side. Ercole had three daughters. The youngest daughter, Tulia, was my grandmother. She married John Wood Reith and they had three daughters - one of whom is my mom. Which means you and my mom are cousins?

How about you? What is your link to Ercole?

I assume you did the obvious, but in case you haven't go to www.familysearch.org and type in Allesandro Marsella and you will come up with one that was married to a Maria Vittoria Nardi (pretty close?) It also lists the father as Celeste Marsella and mother as Rosa Macari.

You don't have excel - but I have over 500 names associated with Marsella - Borza - Macari - Di'Vito Aprile and some others from Casalattico / Montattico. I need to figure out a way to get these to you. Email me directly at hmarcel@comcast.net

I suspect you did the obvious, but in case you haven't. gO TO www.familysearch.org and type in Allesando Marsella and you will come up with the father listed as Celeste Marsella and the mother as Rosa Macari. It shows that Allesando married a Maria Vittoria Nardi - That's pretty darn close but might be no cigar - worth checking. I think they have Allesando listed as being born about 1841 -2 or so.

I have to figure out a way to get this spreadsheet to you on all the names in Casalattico. Email me directly at hmarcel@comcast.net so I can get your email address. I have my own website so if all else fails I'll upload it to there and you can view it. Some of it takes explanation. I have about 500 names associated with Aprile, Borza, Macari, Marsella and some Di'Vito with a scattering of others born in the Casalattico area. These were derived from the LDS Film strips.

I don't have the Casalattico Branch of the Marsella Family, I have the San Giovanni Incarico Branch. I don't have Excel, but I do have Adobe Reader. I know there are other branches of the Marsella Family in Casalaviere, Pastena, and other Comunes around San Giovanni. But I can never find the indiviuals that link these families together. Any infor on the Casalattico Branch would be appreciated.

I have been researching my Italian side of the family for the past few years and have aquired a huge amount of information on Marsella's, Borza's, Macari's and Aprile's. Most of my relatives emigrated from Cassalattico / Montattico Italy - but some ended up in Ireland and Scotland. I have a Benedetto Marsella in my family history along with Di'vito's. I have a list on a spreadsheet of perhaps 300-400 of the above names mentioned that were born in Casalattico / Montattico. These names were derived from film strips at LDS Family history center. Contact me for more particulars.

My grandmother was Mary/Maria Marsella, who married Magno/Manuel Di Vito in Scotland, 1908, when she was 16. Her parents were Benedetto Marsella, Ice Cream dealer, his wife Antonia Marsell nee Zurro, all from Frosinone. The Di Vitos/De Vitos are also from Frosinone - Castelattica or Montatico, I belive, by way of France. Maria's descendants all now live in Ireland, having moved to Northern Ireland sometime after 1908.

Would love to trace any relations/descendants, especially back in the old country, in Frosinone.

Libera Conte Marsella

Mrs. Libera Conte Marsella, 84, of Aquino, Italy, formerly of Altoona, died Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, in Aquino.
She was born July 11, 1911, in Altoona, the daughter of Antonio and Francesca (Roefaro) Conte. She married Libero Marsella in Italy. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Rocco of Aquino; a daughter, Anna Fazio of Carrollton, Ga.; two brothers: John B. of Altoona and Geno of Rome, Italy; a sister, Maria of Rome; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Interment was made Tuesday in Aquino.

My grandmother was Angelina Marsella, born in Italy 1886. She married Joseph Guglicello after she came to the USA. She had siblings in Long Branch, NJ. This is all I know at the present.

We are related, but I can't figure out who connects us.
My branch is from San Giovanni Incarico, Frosinone, Italy, also some were from Pastena, Arce, Roccasecca, Roca'd'Arce, Sant'Apollonaro. My great-great grnadfather was Alessandro Marsella who married Maria Vittoria DiNardo.

I am also looking for this last name. My father Giuseppe Marsella who was born in Italy in 1917(Frosinone also!) emigrated to France at an early age. I also know that some members of his family emigrated to the States and to UK. My father's father was also Giuseppe Marsella.

Any information we can share would be most appreciated.

My father Giuseppe Marsella emigrated from Italy (Provincia di Frosinone) to France with his parents at a very young age whereas some of his uncles emigrated to the States around early 1900 and also in England and do not know if we still have family in the States where I reside. Any reply would be very helpful

My father's father is also Giuseppe Marsella.
