Hi Karen,

Yes indeed, Anna Marsh's first husband's last name was indeed Sharts, but he was Park Sharts (brother of Roy). The memorial on find-a-grave is mine :)

I've never found the marriage certificate but have found enough other information, including an oral history from a Sharts family member who remembered Park having a brief first marriage that produced a daughter and finding Lulu Sharts Miller and her husband on the 1910 census in the same Iowan community of Shenandoah as Park's widowed second wife, Hattie (Biggs or Briggs) Sharts Sheridan and their two surviving children.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post on this interesting and mysterious family!

Hello Joy,

I am delighted to hear from you! Anna Louisa Marsh was my 2nd great grandmother. She had a daughter, Lulu Shorts (1879-1931), with an R. Shorts (possibly Roy Shorts) - it is not entirely clear if they were married, but they didn't stay together long. Lulu married Joseph F. Miller (1879-1930) in Revere, Clark, Missouri in 1902. Their son Floyd Dawson Miller (abt 1904-?) married Bernice Agnes Finke (1902-1942), their daughter Marilyn Miller is my mother.

I would be so grateful for more information on Anna's family. I have Anna's parents as Stephen John Marsh and Martha Ann Butts - is this correct?

Thank you so much,

Sarah Morris
sarahmorris1701@gmail.com

Can't prove it at this point, but I think his name was Roy SHARTS, rather than SHORTS, who was a teacher in Clark County, Missouri. Anna was living with her parents in the 1880 census, with surname Shorts or Sharts (bad penmanship) and listed as married. However Lulu wasn't listed. Roy Sharts was living with his mother and was listed as single.
Find=a=grave has her maiden name as Sharts. Something to look into, anyhow.

Charles Marsh 1870 is my great-grandfather. Does anybosy know about Ann Robinson, who married Charles' father in 1854? The marriage cert names her father as James Robinson, deceased. In the census she gives her birthplace as Burscough, and age implying a birth in 1833/4.
Burscough was in Ormskirk parish. No baptism for Ann at Ormskirk (Lanc OPC transcript).
Any info about Ann's birth and parents would be welcome.

John

This is really good I think. First of all, we have no proof Electa is a Marsh, it has been stated over and over again that there is probable cause, but that is all.

We are talking about the same Marshes.

Randal and Lydia, both died in 1855 and buried in the Gladstone Baptist Cemetery.

My Electa Rus is Living with them in Whitby at the time of the 1852 Canadian census with her daughter Abigail Rus(s) Hubbel. So if she is not a Marsh, living with her brother (both Electa nad Abigail being widows) then maybe Lydia is her sister. So maybe Electa is a Fuller. Maybe even twins?

Do you have information on the Fullers, like where they were from?
Herb

I don't have Jacob and Lydia (Fuller) Marsh with an Electa. I have Jacob (abt 1768 -1813, d. Windham County, CT. Randall 1769--1855 born Rutland VT died North Dorchester, ON, Lydia b 1775, Anne b 1756, and William 1757-1843) (A well known Baptist minister). I don't have any Electa Marsh, anywhere, but the families were large and I make no pretense of being thorough on lines, and the number of first cousins is very large. Jacob was one of 12 sons of the Rev. Thomas Marsh. You might see if you can find Patra Hepworth's site on line as she has done a lot of work on descendants of Thomas.

It's John Doherty, I think. Anyway, Matthias Marsh, d. 1783, married Priscilla Brigham in Conventry, CT. They baptized four children there: William, 1737/8- 1816 -- my wife's ancestor, Elizabeth 1727-1787, Matthias,1729-?, and Bethia (1743-?, probably young.) There is no sign in nearby parishes that they baptized another child. There is no sign in any of the (relatively few) Marsh records that they had an Ephraim. Doherty is careful not to state there really was a connection, and I wrote him and said I doubted it. Matthias' father, William Marsh had four, possibly five sons, and I don't have all the descendants, but I have hundreds of Marsh names and no Ephraim in the tree. There are four other Marsh families in southern New England, all not connected, but Ephraim is a mystery.

Hello. I am related to a Wilson Rus(s) b 1774 who married an Electa (Marsh), had children in the 1790's in NY and then went to Canada. In the 1852 Canadian Census Electa is living with Randall and Lydia Marsh in Whitby.

I am looking for the parents of Wilson Rus, but found this thread. Do you know if Jacob, the father of Randall had a daughter named Electa?

Herb

Still have to spend some time going into the actual records.

We have Peachy as actually Anna "Peachy" Lamb, daughter of William Lamb. She was born sometime between 1816 and 1824. She and Layton were married in 1845.

Regards, Kathleen Marsh Lannon

Hi Sue:

This is Tom Leverich of West Windsor, NJ; username tomaug121 on Ancestry.com. I have researched the Leverich family since 1974, and corresponded for many years with Ray Leverich Sr of Peekskill. I still have his letters on file.

I do not have images of Ray and Loretta. They must have been were posted by another Leverich family researcher.

There are two individuals at Ancestry that have been expanding upon Leverich family info I shared with them, which they in turn have posted at Ancestry, updating with new info as they go along.

One is John Bartlett, historycraze on Ancestry. The other is Linda Lewis, i.e. scotchonthehocks at Ancestry.

You can contact me outside of Ancestry at tomaug12@aol.com, and I will be glad to respond to any other questions you may have.

I am looking for info on Samuel Allie Marsh b 3/22/1869 and his brother Henry Clay Kelley b 8/18/1873. We have family DNA that says we are "Marsh". We have no real leads as to the parents of these 2 boys. They both lived in Missouri, Henry Clay lived his whole life ther in same area. Samuel is not listed on a census until after marriage, he married in Gayso,Missouri. He is listed with guardian as living in Arkansas on marriage record. He lived in Arkansas and Texas. He came to Missouri after Henry Clay's death, he asked family why are you using Kelley name you are Marsh. I have Samuel's death cerificate, his parents are listed as William Marsh and Elizabeth McArthur. Samuel has parents birth on different census from NC/SC/Mo. Why would the boys be separated. I have contacted the Missouri archives with numerous request, they do not have the parents listed in Missouri. If anyone know any information, Please respond.

Jane Marsh Price 1920-2012 Zanesville, Ohio

Jane Ann Price, 91, of Zanesville, OHIO died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was born February 28, 1920, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Dr. Cecil C. and Florence I. Burton Marsh. After Dr. Marsh died in 1929, Florence married Erle M. Folk, who adopted Jane and her sister Patricia in 1936. Jane was a lifelong resident of Zanesville, Ohio graduating from Lash High School Class of 1937 and attended Muskingum College for 2 years.
She married J. Robert "Bob" Price in 1940 and they lived in Zanesville, Ohio all of their married life.
She was a homemaker and had been a substitute teacher, but referred to herself, laughingly, as a "professional volunteer."
She had served in P.T.A., the Y.W.C.A. and the American Cancer Society.
She also had been a hospital volunteer and delivered Mobile Meals.
She was a long time member of the Muskingum Pioneer and Historical Society and the Muskingum County Genealogy Society.
In recent years, she was an active member of the Chautauqua Reading Circle, Owls Club, Church Women United, Friends of the Pioneer and Historical Society and the Civil War Roundtable.
As a lifelong member of the St. James Episcopal Church, she served on the Vestry, St. Hilda's Guild, Episcopal Church Women and on many committees through the years.

Jane was a genuine friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Hiram was my Great Great Great Grandfather. I believe Hiram is buried in the Ann Arbor cemetery on the northwest side of town near the Ann Arbor Arb and Huron River. Sorry I do not recall the name, but it may be Forest Hill Cemetery.

There was a book written about the family history some 10 years ago, about their lives as they lived in Scio Township and Delhi Mills. I have read several chapters but can put you in contact with the author, and several of my family members that are more knowledgable about our family history.

Would love to chat, please feel free to contact me

Jeffrey Marsh (Ann Arbor/Delhi Michigan)

JaMeyer you wouldn't happen to by Joyce would you?! hah- Jeff
