Looking for Nelsons and Martindill, Martindale families

I am searching for members of the Albert Nelson and Mary Ellen Martindill Nelson family, who lived in Hamilton, Butler County.

Albert Nelson died in 1936, is buried in Watkins Hill Cemetery.

His wife, Mary Ellen Martindill / Martindale Nelson was born in 1876 in Ohio, and may have died in 1965, and buried also in Watkins Hill. Mary ellen was the daughter of Joseph Martindill / Martindale and Mary Letitia Hancock Martindill / Martindale.

They had at least 5 children and I can find very little on them. At one point they lived in Marion County, Indiana, but returned to Ohio.

Albert Jr., born 1901 in Ohio.
Rebecca Nelson, b. 1902 in Ohio
Edward Nelson, 1904-1959, served in WWII and I believe is buried in Watkins Hill Cemetery.
Russell Nelson, 1913-1913
Mary Ellen Nelson, 1916-1981.

Looking for Rick Allen Martindale

Hi I am looking for information on Rick Allen Martindale from Colombus, OH. He served in the army and was stationed in Fort Ord in the lates 1960's. He was released from the Army in 1969 or 1970 where he moved back to Colombus. He is my biological father and I'd like to find him.

TUCSON, ARIZ. – Tom Howard Martindale was born Aug. 14, 1938, as John Alexander Lyle in Youngstown, Ohio the son of Virginia Lyle and Dominic Bertolini; later he was adopted by Anna Marie and Howard Johnson Martindale.

He was a graduate of Boardman High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Youngstown College, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Martindale served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in both DaNang and Pleiku. Upon his return, he married Carolyn Lee Cox.

Martindale served as Bursar of Youngstown State University for 32 years, from 1963 to 1995. Not only did he work full time at YSU, he also managed his own peach farm, which boasted over 500 fruit trees, featuring Martindale’s Peaches.

He was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in New Middletown, Ohio and was an avid gardener and an honorary member of the Holborn Herb Growers Guild.
He was also a member of the Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE) for over 20 years and an active participant in weekly ARE study groups.

Upon retirement, Martindale and his wife moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he volunteered his time at the Tucson Botanical Gardens and St. Joseph Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn; his son, Tom Howard Martindale II; his daughter, Holly Martindale; and sister, Corie Sedgwick.

Calling hours will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, 10857 Main St. in New Middletown on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 27, from 10 to 1045 a.m. with funeral services starting at 11 a.m. on Monday.

The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Samaritan Hands Paraguay School at 2508 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville, TN 37803.

Arrangements are being handled by the Anstrom Velker Chapel, a Lane Family Funeral Home

Dorothy "Granny" Belle Keller, 97, of Chillicothe, Ohio (Ross County) died 9:05 a.m., Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Traditions of Chillicothe surrounded by her family.

She was born September 19, 1914 in Pickaway County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Warner and Mae Parker Martindale. On October 2, 1945 she was united in marriage to Forest E. Keller, who preceded her in death June 13, 1995.

She is survived by a grandson, Dean A. Arledge and his wife, Tammy Halterman, of Chillicothe, Ohio with whom she lived; a granddaughter, Debbie (Ron) Boring, of Poinciana, FL; and great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Madison, Faith and Joy.

She was preceded in death by her son, Merle E. Arledge; brothers, Willard and John Martindale; sister, Mary Martindale Graham; and a great-granddaughter, Hope Norman.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Calling hours will not be observed.

I think that Lewis Martindale left his marriage to Nancy and married my great-great-grandmother, Hester Maze. My understanding is that Hester was widowed when she was pregnant with my great-grandfather, Lewis Ellsworth (Elzy) Maze. Lewis Martindale raised Elzy. According to subsequent censuses, he and Hester had three children together. They lived in West Virginia. My great-grandfather is listed as a Martindale in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. As an adult, he moved to Washington, PA, and used the name Elzy Maze. He was killed by a train in 1913. For a short time after his death, LW Martindale came to PA to babysit my grandfather and his brother while my great-grandmother worked. He did a crappy job, though, so my great-grandmother sent him back to WV. :) I haven't been able to figure out what happened to the three children that he had with Hester.

I'm looking for my father's descendants. My dad was Billy Charles Martindale from North Little Rock, AR. He died in 2009 in El Dorado, AR. He was 53. He is part of the Martindale family that has the Martindale family cemetary past Little Rock, AR.

My dad's father was Bobby Charles Martindale and I have been told that he died around 1961 in a car accident. I believe that he was in the Coast Guard and was stationed in Alaska for a short time.

I don't know much about my dad's father's side of the family and would like to know more so I can put together a better history of my family.

If I've got it right, John T married Florence Snook. They had two sons John William born 1927, and Dennis born 1929.
John William is my Father, he had 3 sons, Andrew John born 1952, Ian Geoffery born 1956, and myself William Denis born 1960.

Mary is assumed to be the d/o Richard Burgess because her 1st husband Jesse Martindale lives near Richard Burgess in the 1800 Union Co. SC census with a wife that fits Mary's age. In the 1790 Union Dist. SC census Mary was likely one of the two females in the HH of Richard Burgess.

Martha Burgess Martindale was born in Georgia, about 1832, and died in Chambers County AL, about 1873. Daughter of Jonathan Burgess and Martha Hale, she married Young Martindale in 1859.

If there is a cemetery directory for Chambers, could someone please check it for me, and let me know if Martha is listed? She is the sister of my gg grandfather. There was a large family, and she is one of the few whose final resting place I have not found.

Would also be interested in the interment location for Young Martindale. He married Margaret McIntyre after Martha's death so it is possible that Martha and Young will not be found together.

The Martindill's I'm related to are also from Searcy, Arkansas. My bio grandfather was Leroy Martindill, born 1932 and died 1977 in Victoria, TX. His mother was Zadie Stevens. He had a daughter who changed her last name to Martindale at some point. Wonder if these are related??

What I know from a relative:

William Jackson Martindale married "Netty"
Because of leagal troubles changed the last name to Martindill. This all originated around and about Searcy, Arkansas. Dates are sketchy. I will list the children, most continued to carry the Martindale name.. as far as I know only one became a Martindill.

William Jackson Martindale/Martindill married "Netty

1 - don't know name - died in childhood
2 - Westley Monroe - kept the name Martindale (this is my Grandfater) Died around 1958
3 - Floyd (nicknamed Lefty) married "Billie" Took the name Martindill.

My Great-Grandfather was William Jackson Martindill/Martindale - I have been told this is where the name change came about. He had 6 children...one that died young, Wesley, Floyd, Chester, Mable and Agnes. I am a decendent from Wesley. Any info out there????

Does your research include a John Thomas Martindale born 1878 in Indian Territory, OK and died @1953 in Arkansas? I have him marrying Lelia Perrymore in 1903 in Arkansas. From census records his father was born in MO and mother in TN/AR. Don't know his parents name.

Jerry, are you going to tackle the question of when Edward M came to Massachusetts, and where from? (Bristol? or Jamaica?) He married in Deerfield in 1721, the first reasonably secure info, but there are several conflicting concepts of his prior history. He's the founder of the Massachusetts line, near as I can tell from current information.

Jerry, which Martindale lines are you including in your book? I have a line starting at Elias Martindale b. 1764 in Cornish, Son Stephen B. Martindale b. 1790 Erie County, PA, m. Lidia c. Sherman, had 12 children, my husbands line is Avery C. Martindale b. 1826 in E. Springfield PA, m. Abigail Canfield, 3 children and on down to present day for that line. I have Lidia Sherman's line back a couple of generations with syblings.
