My father's grandfather's name was Bartolome Mas Mieras. He was born in Mallorca. Around 1849 or 1850 he moved to Santiago de Cuba and married Ursula Armiñan Miyares. Children were: Fernando Mas Armiñan, Ursula Mas Armiñan, Juana Maria Mas Armiñan and Rafael Mas Armiñan.
During IXX century a lot families from Mayorca went to Cuba, Puerto Rico and Argentina.
Most of the Mases that went from Balear Islands to other regions of the world could be relatives.

Looking for the Lineage of the MAS Family from the Philippines

Hello,
I have been for a long time trying to find the lineage of my father's family from Zamboanga City, Philippines. He was born ANTONIO SAAVEDRA MAS - his father was Marciano Aguilar Mas and his mother's maiden name was ALICIA SAAVEDRA. I know that the MAS surname is very rare in the Philippines - only know that my grandfather, Marciano had only one sister, EMILIA. I don't know my greatgrandfather's origin - in as much as they died when my father was still very young, hence - our search for this family tree. His ancestry must have come from Spain.... hope we can get connected with someone, somewhere so we can trace our ROOTS. Thank you so much.

Pedro Mas was born in Spain and both parents, names unknown were born in Spain as noted on 1910 Census for Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He first lived in Toa Alta then moved to Calle Comerio, Bayamon, PR. Pedro may have relatives in Mayaguez via parents, such as uncles but names are unknown.

There is a Luz Estella Mas Babilonia in the 1920 census of New York. Of course you have to keep in mind how Spanish surnames are written, paternal surname first and maternal surname second. However, such being the case with my Grandfather, families began to switch this oder around upon coming to America for conformity sake.

Name: Luz Estella Mas Babilonia
Home in 1920: Manhattan Assembly District 10, New York, New York
Age: 9 years
Estimated birth year: abt 1911
Birthplace: Puerto Rico
Relation to Head of House: Daughter
Father's Birth Place: Spain
Mother's name: Le
Mother's Birth Place: Puerto Rico
Marital status: Single
Race: White
Sex: Female
Able to read: No
Able to Write: No
Image: 283
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members:
Name Age
Le Mas Babilonia 41
Adriana Mas Babilonia 18
Susan Mas Babilonia 17
Peter Mas Babilonia 16
Angela Mas Babilonia 12
Carlos Mas Babilonia 11
Leo Mas Babilonia 10
Luz Estella Mas Babilonia 9
Benito Mas Babilonia 8

She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She had many brothers and sisters - family history says there were 16. The family was originally from Spain. She married a man from Pennsylvania named Raymond Isaac Long. Please contact me if any of this matches up with your family.
Thank you,
Cleaver White

Hi Margaret!
My e-mail is yogiogee@aol.com. Do you still live in California? I am moving to southern California on October 15th. Maybe if you are there we can meet and I can introduce you to my aunt Margie. Anyway, we'll keep searching for the family conection. Take care, Olga

Actually I was born in California. My Spanish
could use a little more practice :-) Both of my
parents immigrated from Chile in the 50s/60s
(They met here in the US.)

My grandfather and great-grandfather lived in
Chile as well. My great-grandfather was a sculptor
there.

My father has more information at his home, and
I'll send you some when I have the chance. However,
I cannot seem to find your email address.

Hi Margaret!
Thank you for responding. My aunt's name is Margaret Mas also. She lives in California.
I dont even know how to begin checking into all this, but I am sure excited. Please write to me at my e-mail address above and in the meantime I am going to gather as much information as possible to send to you. Do you speak Spanish? Were you born in Chile? I've never been there, but the pictures I've seen take my breath away. I really hope to hear from you soon.
Olga

My father's ancestors were from Spain,
and one (at least) migrated to Chile.

We have records of a Vincente Mas from Spain
who fought on behalf of the French in WWI.
Could he be part of your family history as
well?
