Re: Busco a mi abuelo Juan Mata Navarrete

Me he llevado una gran sorpresa.

I'm looking for information on Benigno Geagiro Mata, born Feb 1865 in Mexico and died 19 Aug 1911. On the Census forms I've found it says that he came to San Antonio Texas in 1889 or 1890, and that both his parents were from Mexico. He was married to Augustina Postel Perez Rocha, and their children were Alfredo, Micaelita, Tomas, and Catarino. I'm having trouble finding any information on who Benigno Mata's parents were.

Eduardo,

There is a very good chance that we are related. My granfather Juan Mata Olvera was actually from San Felipe, which is near Leon. A very well know mexican singer Pedro Vargas (Mata)[a cousin of my granfathere] was born in San Miguel Allende which is of course also within 100 miles from Lagos, Leon and San Felipe. I found the marriage certficate of my greatgrandfather Albino Mata back circa 1885.
dr juan m mata

maybe were related. iread your posting and i looked up cienega de mata on google map just to see where it was at on the map, boy was i surprised. my parents and i are from a little family ranch right outside of lagos de moreno jalisco mex. to my surprise thats only about 45 minute to and hour drive from cienega de mata. how weird is that? our ranch is all MATA family. some are even MATA MATA. my parents and grandparents are all from the lagos area and i was actually born in leon guanajuato. my dad moved my mom out there when he was working for some relatives in leon.you also said your dad is from guanajuato, who knows we might just be related some how.

eduardo mata
2-18-10
Daisy,
I really appreciate your concern in regards to the Mata surname from San Luis. What I know is that her name was Estanislada Mata or Matta born around 1878. Also that she came from Michoacan with three other sisters one of them was Epifania Mata. My mother claimed that my grandmother was Italian, therefore she could have migrated to Nueva Italia in Michoacan. She married Crispin Coronado he was born in 1877, his Ancestors had a Land grant from Spain, they called it Hacienda de los Coronado near Real de Catorce. They had 7 boys & girls, my mother's name was Arcadia Coronado. Respond if you find this ifo. useful. frank garcia
