I have a little info on Materi within my family line. Hope this info helps.

1. JOSEPH N. FEIST (FEISZT); the son of NICKOLAUS FEIST (FEISZT) and RICHARDA KOHM (KHOM); was born on 20 Apr 1884, in Russia; immigrated to the United States on 25 Oct 1884, was naturalized in 1893; died on 23 Feb 1940, at age 55, in Burnstan, Logan County, North Dakota; and was buried in St. Clair Catholic Cemetery, _______, Logan County, North Dakota. He married at age 22, to MAGDALENA MATERI, who was age 21, in 1906; the daughter of MICHAEL MATERI and KATHERINA EBERLE; who was born in 1885, in Russia; immigrated to the United States in 1904 (1910 Census) 1905 (1930 Census), was naturalized in 1895; died in North Dakota; and was buried in St. Clair Catholic Cemetery, _______, Logan County, North Dakota.

2. AGATHA (PEGGIE) FEIST; the daughter of JOHN (JOHANNES) N. FEIST (FEISZT) and ELISABETHA SCHNEIDER; was born on 23 May 1927, in Zeeland, McIntosh County, North Dakota; died on 14 Dec 2003, at age 76, in Bismarck, Burleigh County, North Dakota; and was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, in Bismarck, Burleigh County, North Dakota. She married at age 35, to LAWRENCE MATERI; who was age 34, on 25 Jun 1962, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Bismarck, Burleigh County, North Dakota; the son of SEBASTIAN MATERI and MAGDALENA HEILMAN; who was born on 10 Aug 1927, in North Dakota; and died on 11 Aug 2004, at age 77, in Bismarck, Burleigh County, North Dakota.

SORRY FOLKS, I'VE BEEN DELAYED BY SOME HEALTH PROBLEMS BUT NOW AM BACK ON TRACK TO GET THIS BOOK FINISHED.

I am still looking for pictures and info about several family branches.

I have found some Materis who went to Minnesota but don't know how they fit in. Do you know them. Thomas Edward Materi and wife Peggy Onchuck.

I also found a Mike Materi in the National Cemetery in Bellflower, Calfornia. born 1923 and died in 1996.
Is he from your family

Any clarification most welcome.

I have several of the younger generations also missing for U.S.A
Materis.

I AM NOW TRYING TO FINISH THE MATERI BOOK WHICH WILL BE FOR ALL OF THE MATERIS WHO ARE DECENDENTS OF PETER MATERI AND KATHERINE OF RUSSIA.
Six of his grandchildren came to North America, to Canada and the U.S.A.
I invite you to share your pictures and stories with me in this venture.

I don't have any information on your family but I would like to let you know that my father, Thomas Mangone (Tommasso) was born in Castrocielo in 1903 and came to America in 1907 with his mother Francesca and brother Michael (Michelangelo).I haven't met anyone yet with relatives from that town except for my own family and cousins. We just found out recently the town he came from through the Ellis Island website where we were able obtain passenger records of their voyage. All my Grandmother used to say was that they were from Caserta which is the province.

I would also be interested in the article about Martin Materi.
Another cousin Gene and Maureen Materi of Edson , Alta. are also trying to sort out the info about their Joseph Materi family.
I now have about 10 members of this family with whom I am corresponding.
This Martin would an Uncle of theirs.

I just came across an obit in today's edition of the Saskatoon Star Phoenix for a Martin Materi, parents Wendelin and Anna-Marie. If you are interested I would gladly email it.

I've just started to look at my geneaology, so I don't have alot of info. I did recognize the name of Wendelein Materi on your Materi family list. I believe he was my great grandfather. He immigrated from Russia around 1890 and went (I believe)to North Dakota. He had 13 children, one of them was Peter Materi (1898-1972), my grandfather. I have more info going forward but not any before Wendelein. If your interested, I'll give you any info I have. I am of course interested in any other background info you have.

My email address at least for awhile is gmateri@edge.net. I'd like to see the info on Joseph and Tekla. I'm talking to some of my relatives, although they are now somewhat limited...hehehe...we all are getting older aren't we,trying to piece together Wendelins kids. Or rather my grandfather Peter's siblings. My brother Dean and I have come up with Wendelin having two different wives both named Magdelena, one Misle and one Geise, with about 21 kids between them. Geesh, if thats true, Wendelin must have been most active. Anyway, I'm still trying to build info. Any info you have will be most appreciated.

I am , with the help of two other Materi
descendents trying to compile a database
for all of the Materis who came to North America
I have documented two families who came to
St. Joseph's Colony, Balgonie, Sask, in 1886,
Joseph Materi and wife Christine Selenski
came from Mariental, Russia ) now the Ukraine).
Philip Materi and wife Anna Marie Zerr came
from Franzfeld, Russia.
They were first cousins.
Two branches , the Michael and Agatha Zerr family
went to north Dakota,
Julius Materi family went to kansas and from
there have spread all over the U.S.A.
Philip Materi of California is compiling
their info.

Wendelin Materi

I believe that Wendelin was my great grandfather
Joseph's brother.
Wendelin's wife's name was Magdalene (Magda)
and they had a son Martin with them, who was
only one month old.
According to the immigration records he came to New York,
from Josephstal, Russia, in 1885.
I don't know where he went from there.
I have come across so many Materis that
I haven't been to connect and with the help
of another distant Materi cousin, we are
gradually piecing the family together.

We have piece four Materi families to the original
Peter who went to Franzfeld, Russia, from Neiweiler,
Alsace in 1808.
Joseph and Wendelin were both born in Mariental,
Russia ( now Ukraine) It is near Odessa.
