Hi! Thank you so much for contacting me. My Dad, Donald R Mathieu, died when my sister, Candice Mathieu, and I were very young (I was 7 and she was 10) and we unfortunately lost all contact with that side of the family. It was only a few years ago we started the search again with very little luck until now.

We moved to Mississippi when we left Vermont. Once I graduated high school, I left to go to college in Tallahassee, Fl. I graduate in 15 days. I also recently had a son. His name is James Mathieu Powell and he will be one on June 17.

Candice, my sister, is actually in Tallahassee with me and is about to be moving to Orlando shortly after I graduate... It truly is a small world.

As far as my mom, Anita J Mathieu, she is currently living in Stuart, Florida.

Once again, I am so glad you contacted me. I hope we both find the answers about our past that we are looking for.

I notice that you have posted a photo of Edmond Mason, b.1820-d. 1897 on Ancestry. This year is the 150th anniversary of establishing the Corinth Church/Cemetery/School here in Houston Co., Tx. and we are trying to document his life. I will share what information I have with you. His first wife was Elizabeth Morgan who was my GG Aunt. I own part of his original homestead which is adjacent to the Cemetery, Church has relocated about 2 miles West and the school no longer exists.
Elizabeth died in 1868 and Edmond then married Salina Skains in Trinity Co., Tx. I assume that you are connected to the second marriage?
Can we please share information? My great 4 grandmother was Susannah Ginder from Philadelphia and it helped me to find that Sarah's father was William Ginder, (b 1789) a Merchant for St Jago De Cuba. Will research on this family.
If I read this thread correctly you are the descendant of Joseph Peter VINCELETTE (14 Jul 1882). I have lots of "compiled" VINCELETTE information much of it is not from primary sources but it always helps to give a direction to your research. I'd be glad to share and would love to add your branch to this tree.

Jane, no problem. I can send you a nice ancestral report for the Mathieu line - just send along your e-mail address so I can send it later.

I have a lot of Mathieu information. Most of what I have centers around Beauce County. Your Mathieu line is mainly concentrated in L'Assomption County.

The first Mathieu in the common line, Jean, circa 1669, had many kids. Your line comes off of Charles, while most of my info comes from his brother Rene. I'm adding in info as I type this, so it might be later tonight before I have data to send you. The data has been verified either in the PRDH, Drouin records, or parish mariage CDs - no guessing here. I mainly research marriages, but can find births and deaths, but it takes longer. I figured you want a nice framework to sketch things out.

Steve Rock
srock@saurette.com
