hi am also a mathurin from st lucia. there's a really large mathurin family here. the name is from my grandfather's side, from dennery, i also know that we have relatives in V Fort. this is the most that i know about them.

I am a Mathurin as well but I currently reside outside of St. Lucia. My great grandmother namely Marcellina Mathurin was from the Barbonneau/Garrand area. However, she passed away in 2010 aged 86. She had three children namely HIliary, Borboy and my grandmother Stella Maryann Clarke née Mathurin. Stella is the only surviving child of Marcellina. I have been told that Marcellina's mother was an indentured servant from India but that can be confirmed by speaking with Stella. Stella still resides in St.Lucia and knows of her family who resides in the Barbonneau area. If you are interested in making contact with her I could arrange a meeting as she may be in a position to answer some of your questions.

My Mathurin family is from St Lucia. Heldon, Jonas, Curley, Eungeni Mathurin. There are 2 more siblings but I am not sure of their names. Their parents are William Mathurin and Dorphelia Sidoine from Castries. Heldon, Eugeni and Curley moved to the US. I know they had family in Canada but I have no further info on that connection

Perhaps someone here has them in their family tree.

I am Dominic Mathurin from St. Lucia. My father, St. Clair Mathurin originatedf rom the Vieux- Fort Area.I know a number of Mathurin from the Castries Area.
i had an uncle that came Mark Mathurin that migrated to Cayenne in the 50's but I do not Know if he still alive. i will search about Hamiliton mathurin and i get back in touch with you.

My name is Irvin A. K. Mathurin, originally from St. Lucia in the caribbean.
My Grandfather (of my father) was Paul Erington Mathurin who died in St. Lucia. However, my grandmother called him Hamilton and I'm not sure why. I will research this.

I do know that we came out of France (at least as far back as I have been told), and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to research this further with you.

Also, like one of your responders, we do have a large contingency in England.

I too have been told about a link to Panama with my family history. My g-grandmother lived in Babonneau, Garrand area of St.Lucia and supposedly emigrated from Panama, circa late 1890's to early 1900 but before the building of the canal. Her married name was Fanis Arthur (brother Belma) but my direct ancestors are Paul, Leonce and Antoine. They were of mixed heritage. I know my family will know of Mathurin's in St.Lucia. Should you have any connections please let me know.

Seems like you all are related to the Mathurins who hail from Canaries, St Lucia. I know that some of the family members left St Lucia and moved to Panama probably at the turn of the last century. My mother in law is known as Ismela Mathurin - she comes from a relatively big family with most of them living in the UK and some in America/Canada. I would say if you are looking for information you need to start in Canaries and check out the Town Hall records. If I do find out more I will post it out to you.

well i am a Desmangles my late dad was the first in his generation 1942 to 2008(Gable George Desmangles) and i am the first from my generation 1972.if you tell me where your family is from(what part of st lucia)i might be able to help.I know the family was in Vieux Fort and Castries, and i think i know most of them so if i could be of any help please let me know.

I'm looking for information on the Mathurin Surname in St Lucia. My grandfather was Heldon Mathurin and he had six brothers and sisters. He immigrated to the US in 1921. His mother was Dorphilia Sidoine and lived to her death in St Lucia. Please let me knwo if you have any info.

My grandmother Viola Mathurin (born 1911)married Elephege Larochelle(born 1901) of Canada, her parents Joseph Mathurin(born 1869) married Josephine Latour(born 1879) both of Canada...they immigrated to USA and then resided in Putnam, CT... do you have any information for me.. In the book by Jack Chaille he traced the Chaille name back to France and found a crest. If you can get his book or microfilm of it you will see it. If not let me know and I can scan what is on the book for you. The book by Jack Chaille is my only source though.

I too am looking for connections. My father born 1922 was a St. Lucian. He maried Uralice "Tita" Desmangles who was born 1925. They lived in St Lucia until 1956 when they came to England. There also seems to be a Jean-Baptiste link.

Clara Bond was the wife of Edouard Mathurin.
They both died in Rockland, Ontario.
Dolorese was their daughter who was married to Henri Menard who was a blacksmith in Rockand, Ontario.
Karl, was your father in the Canadian Air Force? and did your mom ever visit our farm in Hammond Ontario?
Edouard Mathurin was born in Anse A Valleau, in Quebec and there is still many descendants still living there.
Edouard Mathurin and Clara Bond married in that area Riviere aux Renards, Quebec, and moved to Rockland, Ontario.
