MATIAS in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico

Hi! I am wondering if perhaps anyone has any relevant information.

I am looking for a man with the last name MATIAS who married a woman with the last name CAUTRE ... or it could be CANTRE in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico.

Their children included Tomasa MATIAS Y CAUTRE (CANTRE), Isabel, Elenteria, Antonio, Nicanora, and Rosundo (birth years range from 1848 - 1866.

I would love to know their first names as well as their 2nd surnames (mother's names)! perhaps even their birth years and siblings...

My grandmothers maiden name is Matias, Shes from Moca in Puerto Rico, I think she came to NYC in the 50's, She lived in spanish harlem for a little bit by 116th street.

My name is Marianna Matias Hoover and I am originally from Slovakia. My great grand parents are from Habovka, Orava. Their names were George(Juraj), John(Jan), Joseph(Jozef)and they also had sister, whose name I do not know. It is possible her name was Anna. All of the immigrated to US in early 1900. Two of the brothers and sister stayed in US. We believe they stayed in Chicago, Illinois, but we are not sure. I can find out more details. I came across your post accidentally, when I was looking for my ancestry. I am 30 yearls old and live in Harrisburg, Pa. I moved here from Slovakia about 6 years ago and I visit Slovakia every year. OK, so if no state birth registration how about the church baptismal record? What about church baptismal of the other children?
What religion were your ancestors?

Hello again,

I have John arriving in 1900 and Anna in 1902.
No documentation on arrival ports..again, Anna Matias and John Pavlo were common names. Their firstborn was a son, John Joseph Pavlo born in Pennsylvania November 1903. Unforunately, there are no birth recordsin Pa listed prior to 1908.
Again, a dead end!

How you know that Anna was only 15 when married? The family stories are nice to have but they do not help much in a research.

Have you located their arrival manifest? If they did not come thru NY Ellis Island than thru Baltimore, Boston or Philadelphia. I do not have a paid subscription to Ancestry to help you look.
John would have come as Janos - Hungarian for John.

The first child born to these couple church baptismal record should have his parents place of birth.
Above all, it is a place of birth that is needed being that LDS-Mormons filmed the church records of Slovakia.

Thank you for all your help.
Unfortunately, all I have is John Pavlo's WWI Draft registration.
It lists his wife as Anna Matias and both of them were born in Austria (Slovak). I seem to recall my Grandfather saying his family was from Latvia if this helps at all.

He is listed as an undeclared alien.

They were married in Czechoslavakia around 1889 when Anna was 15. John immigrated in 1900 and Anna in 1902.
They settled in Hennepin County, Minnesota and lived there until their deaths.

I hope this helps because it's all I have.

I am trying to find out a location so I can help you with the research over the big water into Slovakia where you will find her parents names etc.
Did she marry in America or Slovakia?
The children's baptismal records should have a place of birth of the parents.

You most likely have her naturalization certificate so you need to find her naturalization intent and petition as those papers might have her parents names but for sure her place of birth.

Give me a location in Slovakia please, if you have it.

Yes, that is my family and I have confirmed it. My difficulty is not finding them in the USA but I'm trying to trace the parents and Grandparents of Anna Matias and John Pavlo.
Anna Matias is a very common name.
Her Naturalization records do not show her parents names, only that they were Slovakian.

Was your ancestor naturalized citizen? Did you check into the church their first child was baptised in? The location of birth needs to be found in US documents.

Is this their first child's SS-5Form?

Hi all,

I am starting a family tree from my mom's puerto rican side. My mother's name is barbara Elizabeth Matias. She was born April 7, 1963 to her father Eddie Matias Jr. (her moms name is Nancy P. Olivencia) used to reside in Vacaville,CA had two children with a caucasian woman (sorry, I don't recall her name. He had two boys, one who has to be around 20-24 about now. I think his name was Justin.

My mother informed me she had two other brothers who served in the millitary but i do not know any names.

Hi Everyone, We are from Puerto Rico. My dads name was Domingo S Matias Rodriguez & his fathers Name was Fransico Matias, & mothers Name was Mariana Rodriguez. I am looking for cousins. When I was a kid we lived in New York City. Manhattan. (We move from NY to PA in 1972) I remember my dad had a lot of half brothers. (Fransico got around). & I know that his brothers had a bunch of kids too. Some of the my dads siblings name are: Gregorio , William(deceased), Pedro, Dominga, Gina Maria, but I think I remember Mario. & there may be others I dont remember. I am a Matias, and my father's name is Miguel angel Jr. and he's alive, and my grandfather is Miguel Angel Sr. and my grandmother's name was Maria Velez. Any of this look familiar. They are from PR, but I really have no info. on them b/c my grandma's got an unmarked grave so they're unsure of the b-day. I don't know my grandpa, but I have an Aunt named Ludivina, and a bunch of other family, not sure who's who. There's too many.

Does anyone have any information on Domingo S. Matias. Originally he is from the Phillippines and moved to NY. He is my father. His birthday is August 28 and he should be in his 60's. Last I heard he got married to a dentist and lived in Hawaii. I think he has 3 children from her.
