I have just seen your request for help about the Mattinson's
I have been looking into my great grand mothers family she was a Mattinson she was from Cumberland and she had two brothers George and John I think George went to America and I think John went to Scotland.
I think John had two children James S and Christopher I can not find much about them but I think James went to Australia I am not sure but my greatgrandmothers father was Stephen it may be just a coincidence.

Family hearsay has it that they had a sister Sarah, and that their parents were William and Hannah. Also, Hannah was the daughter of Ian Eddie and he had a brother John.

Hannah must have been widowed and re-married to someone named Thompson, as she can be found in the 1851 census as George Mattinson's mother, and in the 1861 census as the mother-in-law of Thomas Leslie (abt. 1820 Scotland) who was the husband of Mary Mattinson.

Can you shed any light on the hearsay?

Im looking for any information of a George Mattinson born around 1823. He married a Jane Macintyre ( McIntyre ) born
C1831 in Glasgow. They married in Gateshead in 1853 and settled in Lanchester, Co.Durham They had at least 5 children
Hannah ( Appleby ) 1860, Jane 1866, Daniel 1868, Sarah 1871 and John 1871. I believe that he was a coal miner in the Greencroft cottages area.

I'm looking for information on Robert Mattinson chr 22 Aug 1776 in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England He married Frances Hepple 29 May 1803. They had our children Robert b. 19 Aug 1803 Chr. 5 Aug 1804.(my line) Leonard, Thomas and Diana. All born in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, England. His father was also named Robert born abt 1749 in Sunderand, Durham, England. He had 1st wife Frances? They had 2 Children Robert chr. 19 Feb 1775 in Sunderland. Durham, Eng and John chr. 22 Aug 1776 in Bishopwearmouth, Durham, Eng. and a second wife Margaret Wood m. 31 Jul 1780. Any information about his father (born in abt1749) would be appreciated. My husband's name is Stephen John Mattinson He was born in Australia and is now living in the United States.
We have been told that his ancestory comes from Scotland and have been unable to locate anyone there to assist us
in our search. He is suppose to have a Great Aunt there someplace and we would like to be able to research this if

Does anyone have any records of an Ethel Mattinson/Matinson married to a Michael Mathews/Matthews? They had a daughter named Anne Mae? Anne Mae was born in 1906 in Boston, MA (I believe). Please email me if you have anything. She was my grandmother.
