I think we may have been in touch many years ago about the Maund family in Herefordshire. My interest is in Maria Maund (b1837) who married Thomas Banks (b1834. I remember sending you some information. Do you have a tree that I can view here?
My gggrandfather was born in Leominster in c1809, he married Sarah Hobson who was from West Ham. They had 7 children but only 2 born in Herefords (Weobley) - John b1835 and James b1837. The family had moved to London/Surrey area by 1840. My gggrandfather was Richard Alfred and my grandfather was Edgar Richard.
Not been able to trace family back before 1809 and know no living family members except my late Uncle's wife and their children and my own sisters!
Hi Carol

We are of the same generation. I was born in 48 but was brought up my grandparents: my grandfather referred to Lucy (his grandmother) as 'Granny Maund' so I do too although she was my G G grandmother. Was Hugh in the RAF? Hope you had fun in Scotland. My private email: no-aitch@ntlworld.com I have Lucy's (Illingworth)family tree - back to Charles 1 - if you would be interested in seeing it and you could help me fill in some gaps. Lunch in Pompey (where I went to school)or Southampton sometime after Christmas?
Best wishes
Sara

PS Happy 'big' birthday this year (presumably past).

How fascinating...you met my Gt.Aunt Ellen, who only died a couple of years ago. I think she was responsible for Uncle Bingham taking the farm despite its flooding dangers. Her son Hugh now runs the farm though I'm out of touch with him.
Your Lucy and Frederica sound fascinating. I think the generations are a bit muddled as Gt. Uncle Ted/Gt Grandfather Maund married late to Eleanora v. young and Loben, my grandfather married early in his 20s and my mother was born in 1919 and had me in 1941 - you can work out how old I am! It would be good to meet, I live in the Isle of Wight but there must be somewhere half way?
I am off to Scotland for a week, my eldest son lives there with his three children. When he was born he had Eleanora as gt.gt grandmother still alive and now he has 3 girls of his own.
All best cousinly wishes
Carol

About 40 years ago my (now 'ex') husband and I were on leave in Somnerset(I think - not Devon as I thought previously). An avid fly fisherman, he booked a day at a local trout farm and I took my book along prepared for a long day. In the afternoon there was the grandfather of all rain storms and little shelter. A lady emerged from the farmhouse and seeing the miserable wet heap shivering sadly, invited me in for a cup of tea and to dry off. As we went into the hall, I heard myself saying "Good God, that's my great-great grandmother!" I was looking straight at the picture of 'Granny Maund' (WH's wife, Lucy) in her eighties of which I have a copy. We had a jolly tea with her and her husband who I now know to be Bingham, (although I'm sure he called himself something else) who remembered my G-grandmother who he referred to as 'Aunt Freddie'. A small world. Thank you so much for all the info. Do you live near Reading?
Regards
Newly found coz.

Hello Cousin Sara,
The trout farm owner was Bingham Maund, youngest son of your uncle Ted. The farm still in the family. Uncle Ted married Eleanora, seems to have been a dragon, when he was 42 and she 19 and according to my researches pregnant with my grandfather, Loben and his elder brother Clinton had been born in 1891! No stuffy Victorians there it seems. The next son was Geoffrey who died of cholera/dysentery in a Japanese prison in Malaya in 1942. Miele was the one with Rhodes and Jameson as godfathers. Bingham came next followed in 1914 by Diana Christobel (mama was suffragist).
Its lovely to hear your take on my g. grandfather - I have a few photos of him at Croyde beach with my mother and her cousins.

Hi Caroljaye

And hello cousin! Did your grandfather have a trout farm in Devon? If so, I met him many years ago. WH's children were listed on my copy of a family tree. Please let me know if wrong. My grandfather was very fond of his 'Uncle Ted' - your G grandfather who I gathered was my G grandmother's (Frederica) favourite brother. Ted was a cartographer, among other things, and one can buy copies of his African maps from the RGS.

Sara

They are also shown on a 1931 passenger list showing them returning from Havana, Cuba aboard the SS Orient.

Any info or clues appreciated.

Trying to find ties with my Turner line. Willie C Turner m. abt 1907 GA Ansel T Maund. After looking for his parents, I found that Ansel and his brother Earl C Maund were living with their grandmother in 1900, Mary F Turner, so this let me know his mother was also a Turner. Willie and Ansel were living with his great Uncle Jasper A Turner, which do not believe to be part of my Turner line (or I have not found the connection). They had four children in GA, first child died as an infant, Lucie B, Robert Dixon, Ansel T Jr. I tried to find them in the 1880 census (which only Earl C Maund would have been born, but have had no luck.
Not one census report has them as Maund, I had to locate the hard way. Only GA death index gives the actual names.
I am certain there are still some living in Atlanta GA today and would be nice to have them help me fill in the blanks. I feel my tree cannot be complete if I cannot provide the info own the spouse's parents. It is for the benefit of the future researchers who will pick up the research where I leave off after I meet my maker.
The 1827 GA Lottery provides probably the first of this line to GA.
Hope one of these family members will help me.
Mary

I am searching for family of Charles/Richard Maund. Richard was my birthfather. He and my mother divorced when I was 3, and then I never saw him again except to find out he was killed in a car accident when I was 9. He had two more sons to his second marriage that I have never met. If you know of any Maund family in Pa, or used to be in Pa, do let me know. Thank you. I would like to meet my half brothers, if they are so inclined.
