I am looking for information on John Miller who married Margaret Finley. He was from Ohio Co, VA and died there during the 1830's. He was born about 1790.

John and Margaret (Finley) Miller had 3 children:
Samuel Finley Miller (1834-1834)
Mary Eleanor Miller (1835-1920) m. Thomas Maxwell
Margaret Ann Miller (1836-1908) m. James Wishart

In a letter than I have from Rev. John Miller Wishart, D.D. (who did a great amount of research on the Finley family) dated 1936 talks about the Maxwell family that has 'Grandmother Miller's Bible'. I would like to find the Bible and their descendants.

I have a large amount of information on the Finley and the Wishart families, but nothing about John Miller.

Is anyone able to help me with this? I collect all kinds of information. Birth, marriage, death, deeds, Bible records, newspapers, anything.

Seth and Laura Maxwell Towne

I am looking for information on Richard M. Sheppard. He is listed on the 1930 Aberdeen, Grays Harbor, Washington Census as a nephew of Jesse N. and Grace M. Snow Towne. He was 2 years and 5 months of age. Also listed were another nephew, Robert C. Towne (5 yr) and niece Betty L. Towne (4 yr. 3 mo) and Grace's mother Elizabeth Snow. Robert and Betty were children of Seth Towne. (Seth and Jesse were brothers) I believe his wife was Laura Maxwell. At the time the census was taken Seth was living in Everett, Snohomish Co., Washington. He had another child, Hazel, who was not listed on the census with Jesse. Seth died in Nov. 1930. I cannot connect Richard to anyone. I don't have much on Grace and thought maybe he could be a nephew through her, if not through the Towne family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maxwell , American Indian I'm getting closer...

A Maxwell family from Delaware. Here is how it goes...As per 1900 Delaware census John W. Maxwell b.Sept. or Oct. 18 1815 d.May 2, 1902, his wife Irene Jacobs b.Aug. 12, 1853 d.May 30,1921. Children are as follows John Thomas Maxwell, John F. Maxwell, Wilbur John Maxwell, Elias Golden Maxwell, Roland Painter Maxwell, Loleta or Loita Turtle Maxwell, Carabel May Maxwell All born in Georgetown, Delaware. As you can see by some of the middle names Golden, Painter and Turtle I'm very close. Or their parents played a lousy joke on them. LOL

From what I have been told the mother Irene Maxwell whose maiden name is Jacobs is half Indian. It's her parents that are the Indian's.

Some of these Maxwell's moved to Camden, NJ around 1910 and lived ther up until today. If anybody can help me with anything I would surely appreciate it.

Thanks

Fred

I have been looking for John James Maxwell, and Mary Ann Shaw in Cookstown. That is where my gr-grandfather Thomas Henry Maxwell came from. But I have recently received information that said the John and Mary Ann farmed in the Clogher area. Their farm was there, but the house that was built for them to retire in, is still standing in Cookstown (29 Lisson Road?) I am still looking for the family grave, it is apparently in Cookstown, although I have no idea what cemetery. But then again it may be in Clogher. I am still searching for further background information, though, and if anyone out there can help me out, please drop me a line or two. If this name seems familiar to you, let me know. John James Maxwell b. March 1847, d.November 5, 1916 Mary Ann Shaw b. 1850, d.July 13, 1923 They had 13 children. My gr-grandfather Thomas Henry Maxwell was born January 5, 1871, in Cookstown Co.Tyrone, came to the U.S in 1893.....died December 1960 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Thankyou! Angela Loppe

I have a full copy of Samuel A. Maxwell's pension file from NARA. I ordered it thinking that it was my great great uncle, but it is not. I would like to give it to Samuel's ancestors.

The Samuel A. Maxwell in this pension file was born 1840 in Ohio. He married Malinda K. Gissenger on the 9th of April 1861 in New Rumley, Harrison, Ohio.

Samuel was a Corporal in Co. G 74" Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry.

Samuel died on the 25th of March 1909 of heart desease.

This is about an inch and a half of paper work just full of information.
Please send me an email at tristan0805@yahoo.com if you want this copy. I will only mail it out once - so if I get multiple requests - I will give it to the first person who asks.

Thanks,
Lori

Hi
I am looking for anyone who may have historical sources on a feud between the Maxwells and Dinwiddies in the area of Kirkcudbright/Scotland in the late 14th/early 15th century? I am looking for causes and outcomes of said feud. I do know that the Dinwiddies are listed as a sept of the Maxwell's but not much ore than that.

Jody Allen

Frank J. MAXWELL: estate heir 1912

6 Oct 1912, Jacob K. ZIMMERMAN died at The Elms Hotel in Excelsior Springs, Mo., age about 70. He died leaving neither widow nor will but an estate worth more than a million dollars. It read like a serial in the Kansas City Star as people sent their family trees in hopes of proving they were a legitimate heir. In all, there were twenty-seven heirs, one of them was my gg grandfather, John Hancock MARTIN, a tailor in Kansas City and "nephew of the half-blood" to Mr. ZIMMERMAN. On the list of grand-nephews of the whole-blood was Frank J. MAXWELL; no address was published.

Here is my family relationship to Jacob K. ZIMMERMAN: Jacob's mother was Hannah (Clark) MARTIN (1798-1875), widow of Thomas D. MARTIN; Hannah and Thomas MARTIN had one son who lived to adulthood: William Davison MARTIN (29 Jul 1820-2 Mar 1896) father of John Hancock MARTIN. Hannah was widowed in 1823 and was remarried to John ZIMMERMAN with Jacob K. born about 1841; Jacob had three sisters whose names I do not know. The MARTIN family, and allied lines, are to be found in Dauphin, and Lebanon Counties of Pennsylvania. A newspaper article places Jacob ZIMMERMAN's burial at "his old home in Hanover, Pa." Assuming the reference is to the town rather than several small townships, this would be York County.

I hope to find a MAXWELL descendant who has information on our common ancestors and perhaps a story or two about the inheritance. I'm glad to share newspaper articles and other family notes.

This was around the San Angelo Texas area in 1922 and mother always said she went to a funeral and it was for this woman and she always thought she was her aunt and then found out it was her mother. If anyone is interested to look at this picture to maybe identify the person i would be glad to email it to you. Thanks for any help. Jan Palmer

Dallas Morning News
Dallas, Texas
May 10, 1889
The Maxwell Killing
Cisco, Texas, May 9: News has just reached here of a shooting near Gunsight in Stephens County last night. JIM MAXWELL’S wife had left him and gone to her father’s, Mr. SHAHOZO, and yesterday evening, he went there and, it is said, tired to persuade her to return home with him, but this her friends objected to and Maxwell in his rage, it is said, shot Mr. Shahozo twice then shot at his wife and a preacher by the name of FORD, and started to shoot his mother-in-law, but she begged him out of the notion. He and his brothers, who were waiting for him at the gate, then emptied their shooting irons into the house, unloosed their horses from the wagon and left on horseback. Mr. Shahozo died this morning. Maxwell has not as yet been captured. Parson FORD shot at Maxwell twice as he was leaving. No one was hurt except Mr. Shahozo.
Does anyone have any information on Joseph Lindley Maxwell, B: Aug 4-1873 thru 75 in Tularosa/Las Cruces in N.M. I found his WW1 registration information showing that he registered for the war in Gila county in Morenci, Arizona. I think that I also found information on his parents, George W. Maxwell and Carmen Carrion married on Jan 3-1874 in New Mexico,1727-1900 records in Ana county. Would really love getting any info from any family or anyone that might remember the Maxwell family from Tularosa, otero in N.M. I believe there was a sister named Alice a brother George Jr. and grandsons also named George. Thanking you in advance, Stella

I am researching my great-great grandmother Mary A. Maxwell (b1846) who married Alfred Tees(e) in 1862 in Philadelphia. They had three children; a daughter Ida (b1863) and twin sons William and Charles A. (b1867). The 1870 census indicates that her mother and father were foreign born. She also had a sister named Jenny. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Kathryn Becek

You have to start somewhere. I am looking for my connection to the family tree. My father is Willis Warren (brothers: Kenneth Ivan, Richard Eugene). His father was Harold Edward (sisters Grace Poulsen and Blanche Collins)who married Thelma Eloine Wiles. My g-grandfather was Edward (unknown bro/sis) who married Maude Mae. My g-g-grandfather was William (married a Mary ??surname). That is as far as I can go directly. The rest is all rumors and bad recollections of my relatives. I have had help from one relative that has a lot of info about Maude because that is her part of the family.

Maxwells, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland

I'm looking for information on a family of Maxwells living in the Townland of Tirkernaghan, Parish of Donaghedy, County Tyrone in the mid-1850s. My gg-grandfather, Robert Monteith, married Margaret Maxwell 08 Sep 1853 at the Donagheady Parish Church, Northwest of Strabane. Margaret's father was John Maxwell. His date of birth is probably around 1800. Any information would be most appreciated. Thanks, Rob
