Trying to find parents and a baptism for a Mary Mayall who married James Slater in 1797 at Manchester Cathedral. James was botn in Ashton Under Lyne, Lancs so Mary Mayall must have hailed from somewhere around there.

No that's not him. My grandfather is still living, his birth name that we know of was harold leroy diggs DOB 12-27-1934. his father was fred diggs, tex mayall's cousin. Harold was adopted in st joseph mo from st mary's boys home and his last name changed to hussey. he ran away to omaha, ne shortly after being adopted. he married charlotte geraldine harnett of omaha and 5 children and 21 grandchildren. both harold and charlotte are still living in omaha till this day.

I found my Dad's sister aunt Vilot and she told me what she could remember, She said my Grandpa Leroy Mayall 1917 in Iowa Married Revina Cozad and his DAD is Earnest Orville Mayall 1879 in Iowa Wife Rose May Diggs his Dad James Mayall 1836 Indiana Wife Sarah his Dad James Mayall 1808 Kentucky Married Jane Matson and Elza Stuart HIS Dad Joseph Mayall ? 1785 Wife Nancy Shilds his Dad Joseph Mayall 1755 Wife Margaret McKay.!!! She said they talked about her Grandpa (JAMES MAYALL ) was a Dr in Pinsavaina and his Dad came from England .and that we are related to Queen Victoria . If you know about our family root's LET ME KNOW . Charmen Mayall .SO MAYALL'S coming from England 1755 settled in NEW YORK. Laurens town of Otego 1810 first settler was Joseph Mayall in 1773.. Hi Charmen, my familyt has so many unanswer questions about the Diggs. My grandfather was Fred's only child that we know of. He was adopted and we didnt know anything about his family, He went to St Joe's Mo and asked a judge to unseal his records but the denied him. Robert Mayall Beaumont moved to New Jersey (United States) sometime between 1800 and 1850.

I have some info on Thriza. I have been conducting a onename study of Mayalls in this area for around 8 years.

Thriza, is one of many people from the Huddersfield area who used the name Meal over there, but became Mayall after crosing over to Lancashire.

my info does differ from yours, in that the entry in the St Chads parish records says her farthers name was MILES not John

I think there is a posability that Thriza was baptised just before the family came to Mossley

I am trying to find some information on the father of Thriza (Thirza) (Teresa) Mayall . His name was John and according to his daughters marriage certificate which was raised at Saddleworth Parish Church in 1845, he was a Shoemaker. 1841 census shows her living with ( the Meal family) which could be a corrupted version of Mayal , possible grandparents. But I can find no information on her father.

My great grandfather was born in France or England and being resident of this last country he moves to Peru in South America.

His name was, probably already translated to spanish, Mariano Roberto Mayall Beaumont (second last name: Dune, Sartside or Gertride). Born in 1846, Manchester, Lancashire, England.

Married to Natalia Tamayo in Arequipa, Peru in 1886.

Hi Dawn, I have traced my family back to oldham. I know I have John Mayall born in 1800, Thomas Mayall 1840, John Mayall 1867, John Mayall 1891. I also know some of their bothers and sisters. At home I have some original documents writen by John Mayall who seemed to own lots of property in the area.

There are a few conectons with the Mayall/beaumont families. but without further info it is hard to prove, You say you have other censuses? and the info from a birth cert may help. ie mothers maiden name

Hi, I am trying to trace my great grandfather Joseph Beaumont who was born in 1874 to a John & Sarah Beaumont in Mossley, on the 1881 census he has a brother Mayall Beaumont.

On checking back to previous census I notice that the name Mayall as a christian name comes up quite frequently. I wonder if there was any connection between the two families.

Her line is from Samuel Mayall/Sarah Ellen Thacray through their daughter Cozbi. She was b. 1893 and m. John Raspberry. They moved to Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Henry Mayall/Mayell died 11/16/1904 in New York City. He was cremated at Fresh Pond Crematory, Long Island, NY. I would like to know where his cremains are interred.

His first wife Clara died 9/4/1875 and I do not know where she is buried either.

1. James Mayall was born in Glodwick and was christened on 16 Aug 1807 in St Mary, Oldham.

James married Susannah Bardsley, daughter of Edward Bardsley, on 16 Jun 1859 in St Mary, Prestwich. Susannah was born in 1816 in Oldham.

Second Generation

2. James Mayall was born in Greenacres Moor, Oldham and was christened on 17 Mar 1771 in St Mary, Oldham. He died in Glodwick and was buried on 5 Apr 1847 in St Mary, Oldham. James married Elizabeth Scholes on 28 Aug 1797 in St Mary, Prestwich.

3. Elizabeth Scholes was born in 1777. She died in Glodwick and was buried on 27 Feb 1851 in St Mary, Oldham.

Third Generation

4. Joshua Mayall was born in 1743. He died in Lowerfields and was buried on 25 Jan 1829 in St Mary, Oldham. Joshua married Fanny Lees 10 June 1767 in St Mary, Oldham.

5. Fanny Lees died in Fold, Oldham and was buried on 23 Apr 1794 in St Mary, Oldham.

I have James Mayall born c1808 Oldham married to Susannah Armstrong nee Bardsley, they married at St Mary Prestwich in 1859 they had both been married before and both widowed.
They had 3 sons Edwin born 1844, Robert c1846 and James c1852 all born in Oldham.
Edwin married Elizabeth Jacques in 1866 they had 4 daughters.
Fanny Mayall 1870 Oldham married Ralph Samuel Green then married Albert William Hall.
Martha Mayall 1873 Oldham married Robert Morris.
Susannah Mayall 1876 Oldham married Richard Robinson.
Sarah Mayall 1879 Oldham Married John Thomas Buckley. Sarah and John were my g grandparents.

First the easy bit, I descend (through my mother) from the mayalls of Hanging Bank Robert Mayall who married Betty Lawton at St Mary Prestwich in 1801.

Mary christened 1st August 1764 James and Sarah, of Hangingbang, she married Joshua Newton in 1790.

Mary, 23 Aug 1767 dau of Joshua and Fanny, of Glodwick buried 29 Oct 1767.

I have hunted my notes for
Mary 13 oct 1765 Robert and Mary, and canot find her birth location, I also have a stray Hannah to Robert and Mary on 2 Aug 1778.
I will look at St John Hey records to see if there are more details (ie Location, Occupation)
I suspect these also tag onto the same family.
Robert (c. 1759 in Saddleworth)
John (c. 1763 in Hey, Lancashire)

It is a long time since I looked at this group, and a lot more has come on line. I think I once looked at these, but could not find them. Some are patrons submissions rather than Parish record transcripts, so are hard to tie down.

Your list of children misses of a few kids, including a Robert born 1737. I also know what happened to the first son John

I did find the Mary Mayall daughter of Robert Mayall and Mary Greave born 1745, but on the IGI there's also a Mary Mayall daughter of Robert Mayall and Mary christened the 13th Oct 1765 in Lees in Lancashire.

Mary (c. 1765 in Lees, Lancashire)

The problem is I'm not sure whether these are all children of Robert Mayall and Mary Greave (who married in 1731 in Saddleworth) or whether the younger children (perhaps Robert, John and Mary) are children of a different Robert Mayall and Mary.

My Mary Mayall was definately born c. 1765 as she married in 1799 and had 5 sons (one of whom was named Robert)and died on the 1st March 1839 (though I haven't yet bought her death certificate to find her approximate age at time of death). She can't be the Mary born c. 1745 as she'd have been 54 by the time she got married, and unlikely to have one child past then let alone 5.

On the IGI there's also a Mary Mayall christened 1st August 1764 in Oldham daughter of James and Sarah Mayall. There's also a Mary Mayall christened 23rd August 1767 daughter of Joshua Mayall and Fanny Lees.

Unfortunately there seem to be a lot of Mayalls in this area!

How are you descended from the Mayalls?

I have some details on this family, including a very informative MI.

I THOUGHT your Mary (born 1767)was the daughter of Mary Mayall (born 1741), she in her turn is the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Mayall of Hangingbank.

The only refrence I have to Mary daughter of Mary is a will of Joseph. so it is very tenues.

I do know that Robert Mayall and his wife Mary (Greave) had a daughter Mary, born in 1745, she married Benjamin Wrigley in 1770.

I would be very interested in swoping info to try and sort out this problem.

Hi,

I'm trying to trace Mary Mayall who married Joseph Ogden on the 17th October 1799 in Saddleworth, Yorkshire, England.

They had 5 children in Hey near Oldham in Lancashire:

John Ogden (1800 - died 1873)
Adam Ogden (1802 - died 1860)
Edward Ogden (1804)
Robert Ogden (1805 - drowned in lodge in 1854)
Samuel Ogden (1807 - married Sarah Buckley - died 1881)

Mary Mayall Ogden died 1839 and Joseph Ogden died in 1830.

She is possibly the daughter of Robert Mayall of Saddleworth, son of John Mayall and Joanna Gartside of Saddleworth though she is a bit too young as Robert Mayall and his wife Mary Greave would have to have children from 1730 - 1765 so perhaps she is their granddaughter?

Any additional information about Mary Mayall would be greatly appreciated,

My husband is a Mayall, his father was Samuel Mayall born 1907 in Oldham. His father was Samuel Mayall born 1872 in Oldham, he married Sarah Thackray in 1893. In the early 1900 he moved to Canada.
Samuel's father was Robert Mayall born 1835, his mother was Sarah Prescot born 1834.
Does any one have any infomation on these Mayall's.

My wife Fay was looking around on the Internet & found the page where you were asking
about your ancestors.
My Great Great Grandfather was Phineas Mayall
& he was born in Yorkshire in 1820.
He married Sarah (nee Large) in 1844 in oldham
Lancashire, & they came to New Zealand in 1865
on the Matoaka arriving on the 3rd of January.
They had seven children, one of whom was George.
my Great Grandfather, He married Annie Kirk & they
had eleven children one of whom was John Edward,
my Grandfather. George also had a girl called Ellen
Born 1889--died sept 1967 she married
Gerald Patrick Fitzgerald & they had three children
Maurice Ronald & Mollie Laurie. I think this is
the correct information & I hope it is of Help to you.

1. Reginald Mayall was born in 1887 in Royton.

Second Generation

2. Robert Mayall was born in 1852 in Oldham. He married Kate Travis on 28 Aug 1872 in Greenacres Chapel Oldham.

3. Kate Travis was born in 1850 in Shaw.

Third Generation

4. Robert Mayall was born in Feb 1826 in Moorside and was christened on 4 Feb 1828 in Spring Head Providence Independent. He died March qtr 1904 in Oldham. Robert married Mary Clough on 26 Jul 1848 in St Peters, Oldham.

5. Mary Clough was born in 1826 in Oldham. She died sep qtr 1894 in Oldham.

6. James Travis.

Fourth Generation

8. Samuel Mayall was born in 1784. He died on 7 Dec 1844 in Side of Moor, Oldham and was buried on 11 Dec 1844 in St Anns, Lydgate. Samuel married Betty.

9. Betty was born in 1785. She died on 23 Jun 1839 in Side of Moor, Oldham and was buried on 25 Jun 1839 in St Anns, Lydgate.

I was told Nelson Mayall went back to Maine when his wife died .They lived on Block Island RI. He was a Minister . I don't know for sure if he was a Baptist or Congregational Minister. His wife was Elizabeth Mcginnes . I think she came from NJ and died on Block Island and her parents were born in Scotland. Lanarkshire ? I believe he was Robert and Ann Miller.--------- I don't know where Nelson's parents came from or who they were . Any help?

My grandparents was both death mutes and came from the summnum area in illinos both having a very large family they both met at the death school in jacksonville illinois and after graduation married and moved to canton illinois hope this helps you. we spelled our name Mayall my dad often told me the name mayhall was used years and years ago
