MANSFIELD: David Maye died Friday morning May 13, 2011 from MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was 69.

Born January 4, 1942 in Portsmouth, Ohio (Scioto County) to Archie & Dorothy (Graf) Maye. He came to Mansfield, Ohio as a young boy and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, David worked more than 35 years with Gorman Rupp, retiring in 2003.

A wealth of knowledge on military history, David could tell you anything about WWII and formerly owned and operated Panzer Hut Hobby Shop, specializing in military memorabilia.

Described as loving, caring and understanding, David had been a member of Brookwood Way Church of Christ, where he served as treasurer. More recently he was a member of Lexington Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Karen (Pitzer) Maye, whom he married September 4, 1981; daughters and sons-in-law Maria Bailey of Johnsville, Anna & Randy Driggers of Cookeville, TN, Stephanie Whitcomb and Dayna & Jeff Norris all of Baltimore and Kristen Crank of Ashland; 15 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

The Maye family will receive friends Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held Monday at 12 noon in Lexington Church of Christ, 230 Delaware Street (US Route 42 S), Lexington, with Pastor Tj Waters officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park where the Richland County, Ohio Joint Veteran Burial Detail will hold graveside military honors.

My Grandmother was Mary Maye. She immigrated in 1901 from Tubbercurry, Doocastle, Ireland and lived in New York then in Jersey City, NJ. If you know of any other information please let me know.

I wondered if you could help with a Daniel May born tubbercurry query?

My 3x great grandfarther was Daniel May(e) born abt 1868 in tubbercurry, Irelnad. al my family lives in England and this Daniel died in England. He is on the 1911, 1901, and England census living in Shipley, Yorkshire.

Do you have any idea about who his parents could be and if he had any family i am at a loss.

He marrried in 1897 and on his record his farther is recorded as deceased farmer from Ireland.

Thank you very much for contacting me. I am trying to trace this family tree on behalf of Roger Maye whose mother was Alice Roud Redman.

He was told that his grandfather changed his name from Webster to Maye because his parents left him with his grandparents and went to USA. I have George Frederick Maye's birth certificate where his father is named as John William Maye, but you have called him 'William John Webster', which makes sense - if he changed his surname, its possible he swapped his first and second name also. I will now check more details for William John Webster and see if it all makes sense.

Yes, I would be interested in your details of Alice Roud Redman because if you don't know him already, you probably have another relative in Roger Maye.

I have a very little information, although my connexion to the family is through Alice Roud Redman, who was my mother's second cousin.

The marriage of a William John Webster to Ellen Edwards was registered in Fareham in the fourth quarter of 1902. In the birth registration records of Fareham are recorded the following births:

Q4 1903 William Arthur Webster
Q2 1906 Dorothy Ellen Webster
Q3 1908 Albert Edward Webster

In the 1911 census a John William Maye is listed at 7 Kiln Road, Fareham, Hampshire. He is described as a "Bricklayers Labourer Erecting New Buildings", aged 34, born in Sheffield, Yorks. His wife, to whom he had been married 8 years, was Ellen, aged 31, born in Chichester, Sussex, and he had three children,:

William Arthur, aged 7
Dorothea Ellen, aged 5
Albert Edward, aged 2

All three of these children were born in Fareham. It is hard not to believe that this is the same man as William John Webster.

Ellen Edwards was probably born in 1879 in Oving, in the Westhampnett registration district; Oving is very close to Chichester.

I cannot find a USA link, though. Instead, it looks as though John William died in 1952 in Gosport, and Ellen died in 1960 in the same place.

I'm sorry that I cannot be any more helpful than this about the Maye/Webster line. I ought to be better able to tell you about Alice Roud Redman's ancestry, though, should you be interested.

I am seeking information on ancestors of George Frederick Maye born 1911 in Fareham, Hampshire, England. Mother's name was Edwards. Married Alice Roud Redman in 1935 in Gosport.

I believe his father was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire and changed his name from Webster to Maye. I do not have his first name but estimate was probably born around 1891. I understand his parents moved to USA.

This is definitely the same family. My mother was named for her aunt Peggy, Margaret Maye Young. George was born in Scranton, Pa. in 1895. I have more info but will have to dig it out. Did you ever reach the Reed family? My mother was in contact with Betty Reed, but I discovered she passed away 2 weeks after my mother. I believe one of her daughters has a lot of info from Irene Maye who was a nun/nurse. Irene died in her 90's and is buried in St. Petersberg, Florida. By the way, George J. Maye's death is recorded in Sarasota, Florida. He lived in Wisconsin, but he died on a road trip on April 8, 1956.

I'm not sure we are refering to the same George J. Maye, the George I have was born abt.1896 & Irene (June) was born abt.1898 in Penn. according to the 1920 Census. Their parents were William Maye & Mary Layden from info, I received from a cousin, his grandmother Margaret V. Maye was married to Leon G.Young (my great uncle). Does any of this info, sound like your family?

My Gran Was Teresa Maye (1922-1987) she married Gerrard Alphonsus Kelly (1915-1983) from Elphin.
Her Father was Thomas Maye (1878-1947) and Mother Mary Anne McGovern.
His Father was Patrick Maye (1839-1883 and Mother Honora Beirne.
His Father was Cormac (or Thomas) Maye (1800-1863)
His Father Was John Maye (1760-1818)
His Father was Dennis Maye (1730-1830)
All of the male line names and dates came from a family bible long since lost.

How can i go about confirming any of the above details? All help appreciated!

The noted US government website deals only with reported deaths of American citizens aboard since the year 2002. Your out of luck with any reported death prior to that year.

Thomas Maye and Margaret McGarry from Vermont were my paternal grandparents.

They died in Phila in 1959 and 1951 respectively, and are buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA

Margaret Maye (nee McGarry) had two children; Thomas Maye (my father- deceased) and Margaret Roberts (still living- about 90 amd in poor health)

I'm searching for information about Ella Frances Maye, b. abt 1885 in WV who married James Wm. Kirby, b. abt 1882 in WV. They moved to the Hagarstown area of MD sometime around 1914/15 and remained there until their deaths. Ella died about 1964. Her mother's maiden name was Barrow. They had 15 children, Ernest Milborn, Delcie Maye, Georgia Virginia, Boyd Gilmore, Alice Tabitha, James Wm., Edna Lee, Charles Clifton, Guy Wilson, Ruth O'Neill, Ethel Frances, Mary Catherine, Richard Ira, Margaret Ester, and an infant son who died at birth. Georgia and Charles both died before 1930 during a flu epidemic.

I was told that he changed his last name from May to Maye.He lived in around Martinsville,chatum counties in Virginia. He also worked for the railroadand rtired from it.
