I have traced my ancestry to a Patrick McAnaney who came to America, via the Mayflower (ship) arriving in Philadephia, PA in 1852. He served in the US CIvil War. Somehow the spelling of the name changed. My granfather's name was spelled as McNeeney and he lived in Huntley Il. In my great grandfather's obit it stated that he was born in County Monaghan in Ireland about 1836, any threads of info would be greatly appreciated.

At the turn of the 20th century Daniel McAnnany left Ontario and settled in Baudette, Lake of the Woods Co., MN. He has descendants living from Minnesota to Oregon and Washington. Do you have any idea in which county in Ireland the McAnnany family lived before coming to the US? Thank you.

Jame's oldest child, Hugh, was the only child born in Ireland. So I don't think we are looking for the same family.
Over the past few years, have you been able to connect your ancestors with any that came to US earlier. The McAnany family I am researching stayed in New York throughout the census years, but they must be related because the same names are repeated. My Phillip was married to a Ellen and had Lucy, Agnes, Bessie, John, Edward, Rose, Phillip Jr, and Vera. They were located in Westchester and Bronx from 1870-1930.

I believe Anna or Annie Brennan was the sister of my Great Grandmother. Her name was Sarah Brennan, a daughter of Thomas and Bridget (maiden name unknown) Brennan. These Brennans had daughters only. Thomas and his wife came from either the Parish of Doonane, County Queens or North County Kilkenny from the anthracite coal producing area of Ireland before 1840 (before the famine). They lived around Heckshersville and Forrestville, Cass Township, Schuylkill Co. PA. Sarah married John Joseph Corcoran of Minersville and lived in Minersville. My grandmother, Ellen Bridget Corcoran, was named after her both grandmothers, and was baptized in St. Vincent De Paul's Church, Minersville. One of her baptismal sponsors was a McAnaney. Sarah Brennan's other sister married a Purcell and I have extensive information concerning that family. The Brennans were related to William Murphy of Phoenix Park, PA (in Cass Township) who came from the Parish of Doonane, Co. Queens, Ireland. William Murphy was my Great-Great Grandfather's brother. More information and documentation is available upon request.
Joseph P. Russell, P. O. We have no information on his family, as he chose not to give any. We think his sister's name was Nevia or something similar. If you have any information, please reply.

Hi Barbara,

I'm looking for Michael Edward McAnany, father of Melvin Edward McAnany. I believe Melvin's mother's name was Marguerite, but I could be wrong. Melvin was my gg grandfather. He lived in Southwest Louisiana and would never tell anyone about his family. There had been some sort of family argument and he left home and never returned. He fought in the Spanish American War. He supposedly was born in Illinois. Does any of this ring a bell? I think he had a brother named John, and possibly a sister whose name was Nevia or Neva or something along that line. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Debbie Courts Spurgeon

My ggrandfather was Philip McAnany, Patrick's brother. They originated in Inishkeeh, Monaghans, Ireland before coming to the US. Philip brought wagon trains to Los Angeles and settled there. My grandfather (another Philip) was born in LA in 1869. Would like to hear more of the Julie Edwards' story on the family and I can supply information regarding those in the far west. (There was an Edwards involved here, too.)

McAneney family in Scotland, UK

My grandfather Patrick McAneney was born in Ireland in the Strabane/Newton Stewart area in the 1880s

He moved to Scotland in the early 1900s and married Teresa McGonagle on 31st October 1914 who was born in the USA of Irish descent. They had nine children and my father Patrick McAneney was the oldest born 13th February 1916.

As at today only one of the children survives, Margaret (third youngest). We know there are McAneney's from these nine children in the areas of Chesterfield (England), Cardiff (Wales), Glasgow (Scotland), Toronto (Canada) and numerous grand children and great children.

We believe the original family heritage is in the Strabane/Newton Stewart area of Ireland.

If anyone knows of any further connections do not hesitate to contact as we are interested to know more about our family heritage.

Hi!
I have a book on my gg Patrick McAnany.

He and his mother arrived in 1849 from Ireland. Went to Amboy in Lee County, Illinois. she was a widow and married John Murphy.

There are several records of her children marrying in Amboy Illinois. I see Art's and Nicholas' among others.

My gg also fought in the CW before settling in Shawnee-Mission, KS.

Many interesting family stories in the book, tracing McAnany generations from 1849 to the present...

I know my family is still searching for descendents of my gg's brothers and sisters.
We're probably related since family history says that some of my gg siblings arrived in the US prior to he and his mother.

Hope it helps.
Her oldest son is also spelled as Lewis. They owned their residence in Berkeley, California. Said they had been married 23 years. Louis I was a Shipping Clerk. Louis II was a driver for Wells Fargo. Mother Mary was a Housewife and daughter Mary was a seamstress.William was a messenger. Edward. Angela, Clement and Sarah were in school and Helen and Francis are still at home.

Any information on the parents of Mary McAnaney is geatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Helen
