I know very little about the Charles
McCafferty that I'm looking for. My mother was an adopted child, and somehow obtained the information that her father was Charles
McCafferty, and her mother a Martha Bandell. It is our understanding that Martha was a chamber maid in the McCafferty's home, and bore my mother out of wedlock. My mother and I made a number of trips to the
Butte area and into
Idaho looking for information on her natural parents. She was told that her father was well off, and that he workded for the railroad - don't know in what capacity. My mother passed away in August 1998, and I would very much like to find out more about her natural parents and their ancestors. Mom believes that she eventually did find her mother in
Idaho (I believe Pocatello), and found that she had a half sister that was essentially her splitting image. The family, however, was totally unapproachable, and Mom came home quite heartbroken that she had finally found her family, but that she remained 'unwanted'. If you know of any genealogy resources in the
Montana and
Idaho areas that I might have missed, I would be grateful if you would share them with me. My mother was born either August 16th or 17th, 1916, and I believe she was born in Salt Lake City, and immediately given up for adoption to Henry
Price and Ella
Clark Eccles. Thanks for your response, and for caring.
