Hi McCafferty's.
I am completely stuck on Hugh McCafferty (1834) A Scottish census reports he came from Ireland but do not know place.
He married Ann? from Rostenk, Linlithgowshire and had children - Hugh 1867, Thomas1870married to Annie McGhie, John, Philip and Michael McCafferty 91876)
It appears to be most difficult to research Irish records - any links would be appreciated.
If anyone recognizes above names- please contact.

Most likely he was from Letterkenny, County Donegal

My Hugh McCafferty ancestor was from Letterkenny, but he was still there in the 1870s and was probably a different person.

The name just seems to crop-up in Letterkenny or the surrounding area a lot - Kilmacrennan, Milford etc.
