Is anyone familiar with a Will MCafferty in the late 1700s in Mecklenburg. I have located a deed abstract that has him selling 3 slaves to John Springs, Jr. I have been looking for a slave by the name of Nancy Springs, born in 1780 whom I believe is an ancestor of mine who was owned by a member of the Springs family. I am trying to trace her back to Africa. I am trying to find out who McCafferty was, where he lived and how he came to have those three slaves. I could not find any McCaffertys in 1790, 1800 or 1810 census in Mecklenburg. I found one in Pennsylvania in 1790. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
