My grandfather William
McCafferty and his borther Johnny
McCafferty came from
Scotland in the late 1800 or early 1900's and finally settled in Bokoshe,
OKlahoma. They worked in the coal mines there. His mother was still living when he came over and it is my understanding he left brothers and/or sisters behind also. In the 1950's my mother communicated by mail with some of the relatives in
Scotland but I'm not sure where. I remember we sent a Christmas present of a cowboy shirt to a young male cousin in
Scotland and a reply said he wanted to know if there were really cowboys in
OKlahoma. My mother is now 83 and her memory is not very good. My grandfater died in 1951(around that time). Uncle Johnny had quite a few children and I know some of them have visited the Scottish family. My mother is the only living child of William (Billy) McCafferty; her mother, 2 sisters and brother having passed on. If you think this might tie-in with your family, please send me more info. I will try to get more detail from my mom, I will be going to
OKlahoma Labor Day weekend. Waiting to hear from you. Shirley
