Hello,
Corda McCarty was my Great Grandpa. He had three sons with Eunos Young oldest Denny McCarty, James H. McCarty, and Olnie McCarty. Olnie has since died. He remarried Juanita Green and had one daughter Carmen. Most of the family of this generation were river boat captains on tug boats. I have the family tree book all the way back to where our relatives were neighbors with THE George Washington and one set were married in his house in Virginia. Very interesting family history. Irish born and imigrating to the United States some serving in the Revolutionary war (Thomas McCarty). Unlce Hobart was known to say, "Nobody can whip a McCarty we're thorough bred." If you need any info I will do what I can to help. I may have some info. And remember be proud, you're a McCarty!!!!

McCarty/Blairs in GA 17--1850

am a direct descendant of Ann Blair, daughter of Hugh Blair Jr. and Mary (Polly) Lee aand granddaughter of Hugh Blair Sr and Jemimah McCarty.

Jemimah was the daughter of Daniel McCarty of Lincoln County (formally Tryon) and Granville Counties, NC. He had a brother Cornelius who owned land near Daniel in NC, SC. Daniel married Agness (???). Among their children was my 5th great grandmother Jemimah. Their family owned property in Granville County and Lincoln County(formerly Tryon) In NC. Land was sold between Daniel and a Johnston whose son Samuel eventually married Daniel’s daughter Olley (Olive)

Evidently Daniel’s brother Cornelius left for South Carolina before Daniel did because he transferred some land to Daniel and Hugh Blair. Blair married Daniel’s daughter Jemimah and moved to SC and eventually GA with Daniel . His sons Daniel Jr. John & Jacob moved also as did most of his daughters.

There was a Cornelius recorded in Lincoln County NC as head of a household of 3 males of 16 years or older, 1 male under 16 and 3 females. Since we know Daniel and his older brother Cornelius was in SC or GA by that time. I wonder if this might be the father of the two brothers. I do not know anything about his wife and children. I believe the Cornelius from Mecklenburg (formerly Tryon) County NC who married Jemima Bell and move eventually to KY and Ohio are members of the McCarthy family from Stafford County VA. I do not believe that he was because his marriage date was in the 1820’s. and he went west while my McCarty’s migrated southwards.
I believe Cornelius, the eldest son of Daniel who was the heir in law of Cornelius’ of SC estate and married in GA. I still haven’t worked that out yet.

One fact I have discovered is that there were two families (one was named Goforth)involved with the McCarty’s in Tryon and/or Granville County who can be connected in Bucks County PA with a Cornelius McCarty. I’m not sure about this but perhaps it is worth investigating.

I am hopeful that someone may have some data that might open a few doors to my McCarty Family.

Thanks.

Phil Strause
Hi- You had wrote to my husband (jwdmccarty). We did not renew our account, so I use my father's. Here is how my husband is related to you: James and Catherine had 7 children that we found listed on the census: Daniel (Dan's Great Great Grandfather), then James, William, John, Mary, Richard, and Catherine. You are related to John, right? I do have more info if you want to write to me.

Ancestral Line of William Bryan McCarty (b 1897) of Arkansas

The account is under my wife's name, my name is Bill McCarty. My tree is 'McCarty III'

William Bryan McCarty (husband to Raney Lou Wright) was what the Irish call a Ne'er-do-well so there is very little I am able to find on him. He had a brother; Herman McCarty and I believe two half sisters; Eva McCarty and Mabel McCarty as well as two half brothers; Willie M McCarty and Mancel Middleton McCarty. Every bit of the information on the half sisters and brothers could be wrong but I think it is correct.

The even bigger 'not sure' is that his father was William James McCarty (b 1874) of Mississippi and his mother was Anna Lovelace (b 1875) of Arkansas. His step mother was Icy Baugh (b 1887) of Arkansas.

I have been making good progress on my mother's father's mother's side of the family but am striking out when it comes to my own Surname.

I would like to contact any descendants of Daniel McCARTY (b 1872 (Ontario, Canada) and Sarah GIBSON (1844 Pickering Twp, Ontario - 11 Nov 1890 Stouffville, Ont). I am related to Sarah. Daniel and Sarah married at Uxbridge Township (Ontario County) 11 Feb 1864. Sarah's sister Margaret GIBSON had earlier married John HUTCHISON of Uxbridge.

The last information I have on the family is the 1891 Canada Census of the family at Stouffville, still all together except for Sarah who had just died. The children were:

Josephine McCARTY (c 1866 Ontario)
Ada Florence McCARTY (c 1868 Ontario)
Walter McCARTY (c 1870 Ontario)
William John McCARTY (c 1872 Ontario)

I am researching the McCarty Family of Wyoming Co. VA/WV. In 1850 I find no McCarty's in Wyoming VA. In 1860 my gg grandparents appear, Absolom & Nancy McCarty, now there is also a William McCarty a few hh away in the hh of John Mullius (Mullins) There was also a Henry McCarty who married Mary Morgan, d/o Johnathan Morgan & Nancy Harvey. Now Henry died in Nov. 1859 from TB, I find Mary and their son Floyd in Johnathan Morgan HH in 1860, I can not find Mary after that, but her children are there in 1870 as Floyd and Ellen B. Morgan, I do not know if Henry & William were children of my gg grandfather or if they were nephew's of my gg grandparents( If they were nephew's it is likely they were the children of William Carty who died in the 1830's. I have came across this Brunty name before, I would love to share any info that I have and compare notes, as I am planning to spend the day in the archives one day after the holiday week is over. You are welcome to join me. I have been hoping to connect with someone who is also researching the McCarty's of Wyoming Co. WV. You can message me here or you can email me direct at cynthiajmccarty@msn.com. I would be very interested in Wannie McCarty and her ancestors, you never know how or when you will discover a clue, so in my search for info about my gg grandparents I am trying to cover all McCarty bases in Wyoming or McDowell counties. I am also looking for a woman by the name of Elizabeth Mitchem, she is found in the 1880 Census in my gg grandparents hh listed as grandaughter, and married , age 33, so Mitchem was her married name. Thanks, Cynthia

I am looking for an Elizabeth Mitchem who was in the 1880 Wyoming County WV Census in the hh of her grandparents Absolom and Nancy McCarty, Elizabeth was listed as age 33 and married. I am not sure what her maiden name was, she could have been a McCarty who married a Mitchem or she could have had a different last name, as the daughter of a female child of Ab and Nancy. At any rate she married a
Mitchem. Anyone with info please message me.

Hi Carol ~

I have Thaddeus McCarty(McKarty) in my data base of Sergeant(Sargent) I have found there were two very early lines going back to the 1600's in America. One Thaddeus was a rich merchant in the Boston,MA area and m.Elizabeth Johnson(d/o Francis Johnson Sr mentioned in "The Great Migration"). I believe this Thaddeus is also related in some way to the Thaddeus McCarty,(McKarty)line of Virginia that ties into a Dennis McCarty or McKarty. Which line do you think(or know you descend from?) I happen to know that the Thaddues I speak of had children with Elizabeth Johnson, however this is all rather vague since it is off my main line of Sargent's. Is the son Charles below, the Charles you descend from?...Just wondering.

Descendants of Thaddeus McCarty

1 Thaddeus McCarty	b: 1640 d: June 18, 1705 in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA
.. +Elizabeth Johnson	b: April 24, 1642 d: June 07, 1723
.	2 Charles McCarthy	b: 1665 in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA d: October 25, 1683 in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA
.	2 Francis McCarthy	b: March 21, 1666/67
.	2 Thaddeus McCarthy	b: September 12, 1670
.	2 Margaret McCarthy	b: February 25, 1675/76
..... +Amos Angier m: May 20, 1708 in Boston, MA
.	2 Catharine McCarthy	b: January 23, 1678/79 d: January 23, 1679/80 in Boston, MA
.	2 Samuel McCarthy
McCarty line came to Texas from Indiana?

Wesley/Westley McCarty (June 1866, Indiana- ?, Texas) married (around 1895, Texas) Martha Maddox (est 1860, Texas-?, Texas).
Children were:
Lueanne Barber- b. June 1890 in Texas (Martha's 1st marriage)
Jon McCarty- b. 1 March 1897 in Texas
Willie Lee McCarty- twin of Jon
Edgar Jart McCarty- 6 Jan 1899, Texas - 4 Aug 1976, Lovelady, Houston, Texas
Wallace Lawson McCarty- 3 Apr 1902, Texas -29 Nov 1953, Texas
--------------------------------------------------------------
Children of Wes & Martha agree that Martha's maiden name was Maddox though the spelling varies. Depending what documents you look at Wes is listed as being born in either Texas or Indiana- death certificates found on children list Indiana (only census records list Texas). Daughter Willie Lee married a cousin, also McCarty surname, who's McCarty line hailed from Indiana.

------------------------------------------------------------
I found an 1880 census for Leon County, Texas:
Wesley McCarty, 14, Indiana, son
in the household of Jno. McCarty, b. Kentucky and his wife Nancy, b. Tennessee

Other children of John & Nancy:
John b. est 1847 Indiana (possibly stayed in Indiana)m. Mary
Joseph H. b. est 1850 Indiana (possibly stayed in Indiana)
George W. b. est 1853 Indiana (possibly stayed in Indiana)
James b.July 1854 Indiana m. Mildred?
William b. est 1858 Indiana (possibly FIL of Willie Lee)
Thomas b. est 1862 Indiana m. Molly Lynum
Nancy A. b. est 1863 Indiana
Sara Jane b. est 1864 Indiana
Wesley (info given above & subject of my search)
Louis/Lewis b. Nov 1874 Indiana

I know that my McCarty line has long roots to Leon and Houston Counties. I'm almost certain that this is the correct Wesley - he's the only one found for 1880. 1890 is a bust as most of you will be aware and by 1900 Wes was married with a step daughter and 3 children of his own.

------------------------------------------------------------

What I need is info on Wesley, son of John (?) & Nancy. If any of these people sound familiar to you or your McCarty line has ties to East Texas, especially Leon, Houston, Trinity and surrounding counties I'd love to hear from you. While you may not be in my direct line it's almost certain there would be a connection.

please email me at digging-up-roots@peoplepc.com or always_miss_b_having@hotmail.com and include Tx/IN McCarty in the subject so it's not deleted by mistake.
