You may want to check out a John MOODY who married a Margaret McClintock on Aug. 27 in St Patrice, Quebec Canada. That could well be in the Portneuf area as the lived in St. Basile, Portneuf, Quebec, Canada in 1871. John emigrated to the US where he is cited in the 1900 US Federal Census , proving Name, Residence and Birth. At that time he was 60, and lived in Methuen town, Essex, Mass. He died in 1929, age 89, in Lawrence, Essex, Mass.
I hve been researching my great-great-grandmother, Eliza (Elizabeth) MORAN, (born 1811) who may be John's grandmother. If you have any info useful to me, I would be thankful. Am still not sure that I have the right Eliza (Elizabeth) Moran.
Thank you, margo huc

I am also a descendant of Matthew McClintock and have a lot of information regarding him. He was naturalized in 1806 in Chester County, South Carolina. I have spent years searching for information about his parents, as well as how and when he came to America. The most common theory is that he came as a child on the William and Mary from Larne, Ireland, to Charleston, SC, in 1772. Unfortunately, some of the known informatin contradicts that theory. Another theory is that he came to America a few years later with his brothers and migrated to South Carolina in the Chester area. One thing for sure is that he and his wife Sidnah (Fleming) lived and died in Chester. I have a copy of his will and have visited the cemetery (Old Purity Presbyterian) to see their headstones.

I am planning another trip to Chester in June this year to do some thorough research.

If you have acquired the information you need since your original post, please excuse this reply. If not and I can possibly be of assistance, please email me.

Lydia McClintock Newman

I believe you once said you were descended from Lorenzo Dowell McClintic b. 10 Mar 1826; I am descended from John Ellison McClintic and can't seem to go back any farther than James William McClintic b. 10 Sept 1784 and Ruth Ann Ellison.
I am looking for my ancestor Matthew McClintock. I found him in the Naturalization Book A pg 33 2Apr1806 in Chester District SC. It states that he lived in the US 5 years previous and in SC 2 years. I have found that he was born in Ireland but I am unable to find any records how he arrived or any family members he came over with. I believe he sailed from Antrim Co Ireland but I do not have any proof of this. Have you ran across any McClintocks in your research with the immigration from Ireland to SC, USA? I know this is not your ancestor but I thought you may have come across something while researching. Any info would be appreciated. J'nell Smelley

I think it is likely your McClintock ancestor may have come from either Racavan or Skerry parishes in Antrim. Both list many McClintocks in Griffith's and James and Joseph McClintock of Skerry were listed as receiving the 1796 Flax Growers Bounty in 1796. Also a Thomas in Loughguile. Unfortunately early Irish recrds are scarce.

Hi Kashka:

I am so excited to see your reply! Marco's mother Helene Maunsell and my grandfather Francis Maunsell were sister and brother, so Marco and my father David are first cousins. They played together as children, but they lost touch after Helene died. My father has always wondered whatever happened to Marco.

I have done a lot of research on our family and found some very interesting info, some of which you may have seen on ancestry.com. I would love to communicate with you further, please feel free to contact me by email (jody@liveedgeconstruction.com). Really looking forward to hearing from you!

Jody (Maunsell) Parker

In Pa. they live in Lycoming County and also Sullivan County. In or about 2 or 3 other County in Pa right close. If it is could you let know? Thanks so much.

Fascinating! My McClintock line in Delaware dates back to the mid 1700's and my patriarch Samuel McClintock did have a brother James, of whom we don't have much information on. I see the dates of your McClintock's are later 1800's so they may be descendents of James, or of someone in my line. I have 25 pages of researched McClintock's that I've gathered over the many years. I'll also look into a book I have that Jack McClintic had compiled, over a 25 year period, of 43 different McClintock lines and see if I can locate any of those on the headstone for you.
McClintocks of New Castle County, Delaware

I’m researching my family in New Castle County, DE. I thought I think I have a good connection between Jane Peoples (sister in law of one of my Morrisons) and Alexander McClintock but my documentation is a bit of a leap. I found in the Delaware genealogy classic book by JM Runk "Biographical and genealogical history of the state of Delaware : containing biographical and genealogical sketches of prominent and representative citizens, and many of the early settlers" a mention that Jane Peoples married a M’Clintock. I used this along with the 1850 census of Jane McClintock in New Castle County to make the connection.

Does anyone have any info on this line of McClintocks? Does it list Jane’s maiden name?

They are in my tree at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=DESC&...

Thank you
He had removed from Sherman’s Valley, Cumberland county, in the autumn of the preceding year and passed the winter at Pittsburgh, after which the journey was continued to Cornplanter township. He secured a tract of four hundred acres in the valley of Oil Creek, above the Cornplanter reservation and embracing the site of McClintockville. There was an oil spring on this tract, enclosed by an embankment cribbed with hewed timbers, and from this twenty or thirty barrels of Seneca oil were obtained annually during the summer season. It was sold, principally for medical purposes, at seventy-five cents or one dollar a gallon, and reinforced in a most acceptable manner the slender resources of an Oil Creek farm at that date.

The maiden name of Mrs. McClintock was Mary Culbertson; they were the parents of the following children: Jane, Hugh, James, Ann, John, Isabella, Culbertson, Mary, Rachel, Elizabeth, and Hamilton. Hamilton McClintock, Sr., was born May 31, 1771, and died May 9, 1857. He was an elder in the Associate Reformed or Seceder church at Plumer many years. He was the first assessor of Sugar Creek township after the organization of this county.
