McCormick Pennsylvania

Have recently found 2 documents regarding my grandmother Anna McCormick's family. First John McCormick born August 15, 1859
in England married Anna Sweeney born July 10, 1869 in England.
They married August 28, 1889 in Finleyville Pennsylvania. I at first though the John Sweeney giving consent for Anna to marry in the record was her father, however I now think it is possible it was her brother. There is no US census showing the Sweeney family residing in Pennsylvania or the US. Joannis (John) Sweeney married Anna Malis (melis) and had the following children, Joannis Sweeney Jr. born November 05, 1863 in South Shields, Durham, England. Antonius Sweeny born April 29, 1867, South Shields, Durham, England. Elmer George Neff
Birth 5 Jan 1920 in Etna, Allegheny, Pennsylvania,
Death 4 Jan 2000 in Etna, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, next is my grandmother Anna Sweeney, born July 10, 1869 South Shields, Durham, England. And the last that I have found is Michaelis Sweeney born July 08, 1873 South Shields, Durham, England. I suspect because of the years between births that there are other children who may have died or just had not had births recorded.

John McCormick and Anna Sweeney came to the US and settled in Pennsylvania. Have found neither in immigration records.
John & Anna Sweeney McCormick had the following children.
John McCormick Jr born June 1890 Pennsylvania

James McCormick born August 16, 1891 Pittsburgh Pa.

Lawrence born March 17, 1893 Granville, McCormickPennsylvania, died May 27, 1934, Proviso, Cook, Illinois. His death record indicates he was unmarried.

Joseph McCormick was born about September 1894 also Pennsylvania.

Leo McCormick born August 1896 also Pennsylvania.

Teresa McCormick born abt August of 1899 in Pennsylvania.

This was all gleened from the 1900 census in Washington County where the family was last intact. Now my grandmother Anna was not in this census record because she was not born until May 30, 1904 in Pennsylvasnia. As a matter of fact she is not found in any census until 1920 in an orphan census as a 15 year old. At that time Teresa is also found in another orphanage. The way I was able to connect Anna to this family of McCormicks is her marriage record in June of 1924 where consent to marry was provided by her sister Theresa nee McCormick Bolton. Theresa married a Charles Bolton who she was in the orphanage with. I suspect that Anna's mother Anna Sweeney possibly died giving birth to Anna since the mother does not appear in any records after this family was intact in 1900. Placing Anna Nee Sweeney McCormick's death at about 1904. If this is the case I find it interesting that when Anna McCormick married my grandfather John Henry Arensberg they had two sons John H Jr (my dad) and his brother William. John And Anna divorced. Have yet to find a documented verifying that, however am told by elders one of which is still living that Anna remarried new husbands name Unknown. The union produced a daughter, both Anna and the baby died at child birth. Unable to find a death record since her married name remains unknown. But I suspect this happened just prior to 1930 since in 1930 I find William in a private home that I suspect was a foundling home since all boarders were children under 5 years of age. My dad being older went to what he described as a Catholic boys farm in Pittsburgh.
I am desperate to find my grandmothers burial place it is one of the primary reasons I embarked on this family tree journey and it remains after years the primary block wall in my pursuit. Of course finding a photo of her would be
a grand prize. I thinksometimes that would be too much to
expect. I have pursued finding kin of Theresa's children to no avail.

It seems to me that the orphan experiences seperated the siblings and does not appear they reconnected, a least documentation thus far does not indicate that. So anyone with any connections to the McCormicks, or Sweeneys, I would love to hear from. Anyone with any ideas about how I could proceed further suggestions are welcome.
Thank you so much for your reply! I do have more info and should have put it in with my question. Pat McCormick born Feb 10, 1872 married Nobie "Nollie" Wordlaw Sept 1892. The 1900 census has their first child as Luther born 1893. We have always been told "Claudie or Claude." I wonder if it could have been Luther Claude McCormick because this seems like the right family unit in the census - possibly!

Thanks again
Belinda

Looking for any information on an Irish immigrant McCormick family that had settled in Louisville, Kentucky by 1870. Father was James McCormick or McCormack or Cormack who died at St Joseph Infirmary in 1870. Mother was Johanna or Joanna or possibly Julia Keough who died in 1890. Their children were Ellen b. 1841 who married John Haughton/Houghton; Anastasia b. 1843 who married Thomas Smith, a shoemaker, of Tipperary; Daniel b. 1844 in Tipperary who married Margaret Kennedy; and possibly Timothy b. 1847. James, Johanna, Timothy McCormick and Anastasia and Thomas Smith are buried in St Louis cemetery in Louisville. Ellen and John Haughton had sons John J. and James Henry and daughter Ann. Anastasia and Thomas Smith had daughter Mary B. and sons Thomas P. and James. Daniel and Margaret McCormick had a son James who died an infant, a daughter Mary, and another son James. Daniel and family moved to San Francisco by 1876, and Ellen and family show up there, too, later on.

I am trying to connected Col Robert E McCormick's family to the Stanton family of Pittsburgh lawyer Edwin M Stanton. It is my understanding that Edwin M Stanton defended Robert McCormick's father by the name of Cyrus McCormick at the Alleghney Court House in Pittsburg on a patent infrigment case. I believe some of the McCormicks could be related to the Pittsburgh Stanton and Hutchison family. Ellen Hutchison was Edwin M Stanton's wife.

James McCormick m. Harrigan living in Phila. PA

Trying to locate any information or ancestors related to this McCormick Family that settled in Philadelphia after leaving Ireland. It seems that James McCormick may have come to the US in 1875, while wife Hannah/"Annie" Harrigan came to the US from Ireland in possibly 1860. They had two children John H. and Kate/Catherine.

In 1880, James (30) and Annie (30) McCormick were living in Cheltenham, Montogmery County, Pennsylvania having come to the US from Ireland. James was working as a farmer while Annie kept the home and raised John (7) and attending school and Kate (4).

By 1900, the McCormicks were still living in Cheltenham. At this time, James and Annie had been married about 28 years. James was working as a laborer. Living at home and working as a bartender was son, John H. (27). John passed away 2 years later in January at 29 years of age, the same month he was married to Alice Fuller.

Annie died 17 Feb 1905, just 3 years after her son.
At some point, the McCormicks moved to Jenkintown, PA. That is where Kate met and married John Corrigan.
Both James and daughter Catherine died tragic deaths.
Would love to fine more about the McCormick family and if there were any other relatives in the Philadelphia area or Ireland.

Have you had your DNA tested? My most distant known ancestor, Robert McCormick (b: 1806), is also from County Donegal, somewhere in the castlefin/stranorlar/urney area near the County Tyrone border. Your Samuel and my Robert could have been brothers or cousins. Comparing our DNA would show if you and I are related within a couple of generations prior to Samuel and Robert, or not. I have found two other McCormick’s that match my DNA. One’s ancestors are from the stranorlar area, the second doesn’t know exactly where his ancestors are from other than one of the Ulster Counties in Ireland. If all of us Donegal McCormick’s, especially those of us with evidence that we are from the stranorlar area, had our DNA tested, it would allow us to collaborate and share research with others that are related to us.

I have a small bible dedicated to Samuel G. McCormick "A present from his mother March 9, 1870." Slightly rubbed off on the next page (all of the writing I cannot read, perhaps should get a black light), basically says that Uncle Samuel died Thanksgiving day 1955 Nov 24. "
Laying loose inside the bible is a wine colored celluloid small sheet onto which is preprinted in gold some German message - a scripture I think. (Do you think these McCormicks could speak German?) Anyway do these dates help and ring any bells? Perhaps March 9 was a birthday or graduation (some event). I obtained the bible in Colorado it was printed in 1869 in NY by American Bible Society.

IF anyone knows anything about this Samuel McCormick, please let me know. regards govaudi@mac dot com

On his death certificate it mentions his father's name is Robert McCormick and his mother's name is Johns. Please let me know if you have any information on any of them. Thank you!!

I know this reply is several years later, but I am new to this and have recently, about the last year, gotten more involved in this and today I found your post. I too am a decendant of Willian Tonner...he is my GGG grandfather, their daughter Martha is my gg grandmother. I have learned most of the info in your post but I am always interested in learning more and obtaining any documents, photos, etc. My tree is "Wollerman"

James McCormick m. Elizabeth Warnock - 27 Nov 1841

Looking for descendants of James McCormick & Elizabeth Warnock. James was born 12 May 1799 in Ulster. He died 14 Aug 1853 in Illinois. Elizabeth was born 22 Jul 1812 in Ballyferris, Down, Ulster. She died 4 Sep 1881 in Illinois. Elizabeth was the daughter of William Warnock & Jane Byers.

I need your help in gathering info & photos of Francis & Agnes’ descendants for the Warnock Family Photo Project. For more than 10 years, a group of Warnock researchers, now about 80, have been gathering this info. There are now photos of almost 1800 Warnock descendants burned on a DVD that is shared with all family members who share their photos with my project.

Please join me in this quest. My email is campbellfh@aol.com. My phone is (714) 970-7559.
