I have Terence McCoroy or McCorry born abt 1824 Antrim on my husbands side.
I think he married a Mary Morrison in 1865.
Their daughter Ellen Jane born about 1865 came to New Zealand.
I have not been able to find any siblings for her.
Would this Terence be a relation to anyone on these posts?
I gather he is the son of James and Isabella McCoroy/Corry.

Regards
Sue

I don't know if you've had any more info regarding McCorry but I came across this info from:

The Goodspeed Publishing Co., History of Tennessee, 1886
History of Madison County

On November 23, 1883, the United States Government purchased the block on the corner of Market and Baltimore Streets, for the purpose of erecting thereon a government building, to be used as a postoffice, federal court room, etc. The block was known as the "McCorry Block." Deeds were made by H. W. and C. A. McCorry, Wm. A. Barnhill and wife, Caroline Barnhill, et al., S. J. Caruthers and J. W. Gates, to the United States Government for the aggregate sum of $7,000. The building is about 50x60 feet. It is of the most approved architecture and finish. It is built of brick resting on a stone basement. The streets on its fronts are paved with fine curbing, and the lot enclosed by an iron fence. The entire cost of the building and fixtures amounts to about $100,000. It is by far the finest building in the city of Jackson.
I think you have done some research on a family also of interest to myself.

Edward Everett Richards married Daisy Mae _____________. They had 2 children, Hazel V. Richards and Everett O. Richards.

However, you have them with death dates back in Illinois. They are buried in the Oshkosh Cemetery in Nebraska... not Illinois.

I'm trying to figure out if there is a relationship between these Richards.... EE appears to be from Illinois and so are others that are living in Oshkosh.

FYI: I think I seen Conder in your surname list.. are you sure it's not CORDER ? :)>

When I found his baptism record it was from Shankhill parish in Armagh.
He married in Michigan to a Lucy Murray, daughter of James and Lucy (O'Heagan) Murray.
If anyone has any connections or has come across any records about these families, I would be very interested in sharing information. I have details on his 7 children from the U.S. census records and from Family Search.
Sean

Helo Maureen
Nice to hear from you. My Mum met your mum Maureen and her sister when she was much younger, she is nearly ninety years old now but still has a great memory. She thinks the last time that James was in Blacklion Co Cavan Ireland was in 1955 when his Mum Bessie Maguire McCorry died. Bessie was the wife of Patrick McCorry and Mum to Mary Anne(my grandmiother) Sarah Cassidy James (your grandad) Susan Duffy, John, Patrick, Elizabeth Casey and Lena McGirr. I knew Sarah and Lena as my Mum visited with them quite often when I was a child in the 1960's. Lena passed away in 1967
and Sarah in 1979. I am still in contact with Sarah's grandcaughters. If I can help with any more information, please ask.
Cathy

I am the greatgrandaughter of Patrick McCorry of Toam Blacklion, he was brother to Terence McCorry Derrylahan.
Patrick McCorry married Elizabeth (Bessie Maguire) and their daughter Mary Anne McCorry McGovern was my grandmother. My Mother Bridget McGovern Drugan is their eldest daughter. She is 89 years old and has perfect memory. She told me that Lena Lee was her godmother. Also she remembered Lena's sister was married to Collingsworth in England. She thought it was Newcastle as her sister, my aunt Mary had stayed at her house back in the 1950's. She also said that James had gone to Canada. The "Mickey Tom connection" she was also aware of as I had an uncle Frank Drugan who married a cousin of the Mickey Tom's in New York. Nice to hear from you. Did you know you can view Irish census for free 1901 and 1911 are available.
Cathy
I am the grandson of Terence MCorry (born about 1901)from Blacklion, who was the son of Terence McCorry and Mary Maguire. My grandfather had as siblings John (stayed in Blacklion), Susan (died about age 20 from TB), Bessie (moved to England married Collingsworth) James (moved to Canada), Patrick (moved to New York), Lena (stayed in Blacklion & married Lee), Mary-Ann (became Sister Alacoque nun in New York). My grandfather moved to NY, married a McGovern from Blacklion of the "Mickey-Toms" family or clan. There were so many McGoverns in the area they used these "clan" names to clear things up as to who was who. Lena Lee (McCorry had at least one boy named Patrick who stayed in Blackion, I used to visit him there. I know that I also have relatives in Manorhamilton, but not sure who. There is another family of McCorry from Blacklion near me here in NY that do not seem to exactly fit my family history, but also have similiar first names. Best of luck, Tom mccorryt@verizon.net

Once I do, I will post our family tree to Ancestry.com. I will also make my information available to you and your brother. I have a few very good pictures of Charles Isaac Dolsen and all his sons, including your grandfather, William Frances. Of course you may already have copies of what I have or my dad may have sent them to you. If you'd like, I could send them to you via email. Just send me your email address and I will send what I have.

Michael Dolsen email: mcdolsen48@sbcglobal.net

Hi -

My name is Sue and I heard from your father some years ago he mailed me a couple of packages of information. At that time my brother and nephew were very much into the Dolsen's and I was into my Mother's family the Comstock's and Knapp's. As I got her family more researched I started to take an interst in the Dolsen side and asked my brother for the information back. He had passed it on to another of his son's and I think it got lost somehow.

My brother is Bill Dolsen and his son Adam is now very interested in the family and has been researching it along with me.

I have information about the Dolsen's who lived in Cleveland. My grandfather, William Francis Dolsen, was killed in a car accident when my father was 7 years old and they pretty much lost track of the family after that.

I am very interested in finding any information of my Grandmother, Margaret McCorry, and your father had told me he went to the same parish and could get some information on her and their marriage through the parish.

I have always tried to find out how my grandfather being from Cleveland and my grandmother from Bay City ever met.

My grandmother would never talk about the past and I really didn't have an interest back in those years.

Any information you have would be really great. Thanks for writing.

My name is Michael Charles Dolsen and my father's name was Donald Dolsen, from Bay City, Michigan. I have recently taken up my father's research into the Dolsen family since he passed away in 2007. I have a lot of information that my dad had compiled in his research, but I have been unable to open his family tree file in Family Tree Maker because of data corruption problems. Hopefully I can solve this problem and would be willing to share with you some of his information on the Dolsen side of your family. His notes have a lot of information, and if I am unsuccessful in opening his FTM file, I will re-input the info and post it to Ancestry.com.

Terry,

I am interested in learning more about your grandmother, Alice Curnyn. My grandmother (mary) was born in NY city in August of 1900 to a single Irish immigrant named, Alice Curnyn who left her with the NY Foundling Hospital and she was later adopted. My grandmother was baptized at St. Stephens Catholic Church in NY and the baptismal certificate lists her mother as Alice Curnyn, the father as John Forden and the witness as Rose Rogers (not sure if she was related, a friend or just someone that worked in the church).

Any information you have about your grandmother is appreciated.

thanks,
margaret lewis

Lunny or Lunney is a name where the highest national concentration in Ireland is in Fermanagh and it is relatively rare elsewhere - when I went searching for my grandparents' grave I ended up in grave yard full of them! McGuire is also extremely common in Fermanagh, and of course before the English displaced them the MCguires were the top dogs in the Fermanagh area

I am sorry. I do not know much about the McCorry family. The fellow I sent my original message-Terry McCorry may have some info but as of now, I have not heard back from him. As I said, my grandmother's sister was married to Terry's grandmother. I believe the McCorry's came from the same area in Ireland-Blacklion, County Cavan. Check out the 1911 Irish Census on line.

Terry,
I met with your father Terry and your mother Helen on Staten island not long before he passed. My grandmother was Alice Curnyn of Moneygashel who{I believe} was your grandmother's older sister. I also met with Annie outside Manorhamilton on a couple of occasions.
Your grandfather went to Scotland from Cavan and then to the U.S.? The 1911 Irish census is on line now. Our great grandmother, Alice Curnyn was still living in the old home with Rose, the youngest, age 17.
Terry McGuire

Kathy,

I'm not entirely sure how to connect the dots but I've got to believe we are related some how. My mom's maiden name is McCorry and the research I've done on my maternal side (not as much, yet, as the paternal side) is full of McCorrys and Maguires. It appears as though a lot of McCorry boys married Maguire girls and vice versa. I believe the McCorry family straddled the line between Northern Ireland (Fermanaugh) and the Republic (Cavan). My grandfather (James McCorry was the son of Terrence James McCorry and Sarah Jane Maguire). He was born in 1890 and was the oldest of 13. My grandfather had a younger brother named Terrence.
It appears that Sarah's parents were all Maguires - at least both of their fathers were.

Let me know if this helps. I'd love to swap info. It is probably better to email me at finneranj@yahoo.com

Have you any idea the year in which your grandmother was born and are you talking of the diocese of Kilmore Co Cavan Ireland? The Census of Ireland taken in 1911 is now available and there are quite a few McCorry's listed if you wish to view it it is free of charge. If you have your gmother's death certificate it should give her age.

Her father had a large family and we are still trying to piece it all together. We know of 3 brothers who came over here one Thomas Patrick, another Johnny, and a third Terrance. I believe they were around the area of Kilmore because that is where she was confirmed.

McCorry's in Bay City, Michigan

My grandmother came from Bay City, Michigan to Cleveland, Ohio when she was married. Her name was Margaret Mary McCorry I think she moved here around 1916-1917. She married William Francis Dolsen and had two children my father Robert Francis Dolsen and my aunt Mary Jane Dolsen. My grandfather was killed in a car accident in Garfield Hts, Ohio in 1927 and my grandmother stayed in Cleveland and raised my father and my aunt.I have very little information on her life in Michigan, my mother said she had a brother named James. I think her father was born in Ieland. Shortly before my grandmother died my father, mother and grandmother went back for a visit to Bay City and my mother met a friend of hers from childhood named Hortense. I had an email in 2000 from a Donald Dolsen saying he was in the same parish as my grandfather and grandmother and remembered them. That is about all the information I have for her and would like to find out more.

This may help....there is a Margaret McCorry listed in the 1851 census, daughter of James and Isabella McCorry. Margaret's age at the time (19) which would give a birth date of 1831/32. James McCorry's occupation at the time was as a farmer, this was almost the only McCorry listed in that census as being a farmer. They are also listed as being Roman Cathloic. (I think my own family may be linked to this family, but I am still going on hunches.)

The census was for Aghagallon as well as some other areas and was the only part of the complete census that has survived. I thought it may be relevant because of the occupation of your James McCorry. Most of the other McCorry's from that area where linen weavers etc. There was no son named James listed but it is I guess still possible that your Margaret McCorry may be the grandaughter of the James named as head of the household. I am almost sure that this is my family also although my relative is also not listed as a son, but because of what his age would have been at the time he may just not have been living under the same roof. My ancestor (Richard McCorry) came to Halifax in 1848/49 where he married and after that he came to Australia.
The place of Aghagallon by the way is very close to Armagh and I think in the older days there may have been times when Aghagallon was listed as being in Armagh.
This is a link which I hope will work for the census and you can have a look for yourself. James and Isabelle are listed almost at the bottom of the page.

http://home.iprimus.com.au/s_steffensen/Census_Files/1851Agh...
Good evening; Did William Henry McCorry go by Henry W McCorry and live in TN for any period around 1840 or perhaps just did business with someone in TN? I have an 1840 State of TN warrant signed by the plaintiff Henry W McCorry against an Adam Huntsman of Madison County TN for a bad debt. Huntsman was in TN congress having beat out Davy Crocket. Davy then left the state headed for TX and the rest is history. Huntsman did pay this bad debt to McCorry in the spring of 1841.
