My grandmother from Paisley, Scotland was Janet Leckie McCrindle married to George Lamb. Her father, Andrew McCrindle, brother Robert, sisters Mary, Mina, Elizabeth(Betty)married to Andrew Douglas. One of the sisters was married to a Bain. Any reply with info would be great. Please reach me at kjlamb21@aol.com.

Isabella b May 12, 1830, Straiton Ayrshire, Isabella married Peter Smith and emigrated to Australia

Jane b May 28, 1833 according to William she married and moved to London. He didnt know who she married.

Mary b June 20, 1835 Straiton Ayr d January 26, 1881 Lochgilphead m John Alexander June 6, 1859 Patna, Parish of Straiton, John was a school teacher, Mary had 3 children Mary, John and William.

Does anyone have a connection to this family

I have John McCrindle and Janet Craig in my family tree too. I descend from their son Andrew (b. Dec. 5, 1807). I have some info that I can share. Do you have any information on John's grandparents? Thanks

Hi Matthew, I wish that I could help you with your search. I have been going thru all my data on my "Andrews" and could not find the link that you needed. My grandfather was an Andrew who was born approx. 1880s. However, he married Jane Middlemiss in Saskatchewan Canada. Having just taken a tour of the Virtual Mitchell Library collection for Calton, I have just come across the street name mentioned in this certificate.

The place of death is not Craigneslock Place, but Craignestock Place

William and Mary (Sharp) McCrindle

Looking for descendents of William and Mary (Sharp) McCrindle. They were married in Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1897. They lived at 15 Cartvale Road Langside, Scotland from at least 1904-1914. William was the son of Thomas McCrindle and Jean Scott. Mary was the daughter of Joseph Sharp and Janet Livingston.

I live in the US and am a descend. of Joseph's half-brother John.

James McCrindle, born ca. 1810 in Scotland

My gr-gr-grandfather was James McCrindle, born ca. 1810 in Scotland, married Elizabeth MacGregor in St. Louis, MO. They moved to Sierra Co., CA and probably died there. For some reason, sometime between 1872 and 1880, they changed their name to McCrandle.

Children were:

1. James McCrindle, born 12 Nov 1846 in St. Louis, married Elizabeth Hutchison in Nevada City, CA. Children: Ann (born 1874), Marion (born 1879), Jean (born 1882), and my grandma, Edna Isabelle McCrandle, born in 1886.

2. Michael McCrindle, born ca. 1851 in Missouri

3. William McCrindle, born ca. 1860 in CA

4. Lizzie McCrindle, born ca. 1862 in CA

5. John McCrindle, born 1865 in CA, died in Los Angeles in 1943.

I am looking for information on an Andrew McCrindle. I think he would have been born about 1880 in the Paisley area of Scotland.

He was married to an Elizabeth Leckie in 1910 and had a daughter Mary Gold McCrindle in that year also, born in Hamilton.

Could he be a relative to the Andrew McCrindle previous mentioned on this board?

I am a descendant of the John McCrindle's 10th son, Thomas McCrindle. Thomas married Mary Galloway of Lanark/Glasgow area. They moved to Pennsylvania, USA in 1865. I have the father of John McCrindle as Andrew McCrindle and Jean Riggs. I have some information on George McCrindle, brother to Thomas. Am very anxious to communicate and share. I am researching the family of John McCrindle b. 1782 married 1805 to Janet Craig, b. 1788. Janet Craig's mother was Ann Sloan and John Craig. This family had 10 children (listed below). They were baptized in Dailly Parish. Lived in Bargany Cottage, all coal miners in the 1841 census. Do we have a connection?
Children: Ann, Andrew, James, John, Mary, George, William, David, Robert, Thomas. Dates run from 1806 thru 1828.

Looking for information on Jane. She married William Higgins
Feb. 14, 1865 in Parish of Inch, Wigtownshire, Scotland.
She was supposedly 21 years old at the time of her marriage, which would make her birth around 1844. Her parents were Robert McCrindle and Mary Sloan. She does not show up in the 1841 Census. She and William had possibly up to 9 children. I am trying to find her birth date.
Any/all help would be greatly appreciated.
