Hi There,

I have been using Scotland's people website and found that I am attached to McCrone's from Kilmarnock way. Research has turned up a female named Arthur McCrone (and yes, I've checked, she's a female because she married Robert Howie at Kilmarnock on 11 Jul 1845). Arthur was Born 8 March 1819 in Old Cumnock, daughter of George McCrone - no mother recorded in the PR entry. I found that 3 different woman were married to various George McCrone's around the time of Arthur's birth:
(1) Mary GIBB (no marriage date, but 5 children of this union in the Old Cumnock PR), (2)Margaret Howat married George McCrone 17/6/1814 at Old Cumnock and they had 2 kids that I could see, and (3) George McCrone married Janet Brown 29/5/1818 at Old Cumnock - no kids that I could find in Old Cumnock.

Any connection?
Is there anyone researching this line. William McCrone married Margaret Morgan in Edinburgh 1854 and then immigrated to Sydney, Australia where they have two children Margaret b1855 and William bAug1857. William died before his son was born in July 1857 and listed on his death cert is Father's name John, mother unknown. I have reached a stumbling block at this point. Can anyone help please?
I have researched my line of William back to myself in NZ if anyone is interested in this info. I would also be interested in any info on Margaret.
Cheers, Carol

I can't find link with my tree but that's not to say it doesn't exist. Kilmarnock not a huge place but I have only 1 branch of tree starting in 1760's, I 'm sure there were many brothers and sisters as there were often 10 siblings. Have you searched on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk ,it holds all Scottish records, you only pay for credits to acess info.My family moved from Kilmarnock around 1900. Best wishes. Caroline

What a Clan we appear to be. My tree is descended from Robert McCrone and Jean Gebbie, 1780's, I have lots of info on Genes Reunited or on FTM file which I think I can send. i can't find your ancestors in my tree, but I have been in touch with others also from Kilmarnock branch that have non linking trees or at least we haven't found the link yet. I am trying to work on Robert's parents and siblings as that will open up new trees.Kilmarnock was not a huge place and with an unusual name there must be some link. If you want access to my files let me know. Caroline MacCrone

Hello Again! I just found your name in my paperwork. Are you are Patricia Ann McCrone b. 18 Oct 1950, in Syracuse, NY and married James Smith? Your parents were Bernard McCrone and Mary Jane McLaud? Does this sound correct? Let me know? I have some information and will help where I can? My grandmother Elizabeth McCrone, Bernard C. McCrone's sister, married John Malloy in Scranton. I have been trying to find pictures of my grandmother but have not come across any. My mom said that her brother had all the photo's which were destroyed when his house burned. Anyhow I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Donna McCarthy

Tina, I too, have been looking for John A. It appears that its been a while since you posted anything, so I don't know if this will get to you. But if it does...I live in Missouri, I am John A's sister Barb. I remember you and last saw you when you were about 4 or 5. I have pictures of you and your sister Tammy. I have been putting all the family photos I can find in one big album, and you are in there. Grandma died a couple of years ago but Grandpa lives in Westville, Ill. If you want to contact him his number is 217-267-3854. But be warned, his memory is going. He doesn't remeber to much at times. But it's still worth a shot. He doesn't know where his son is. I beleive he might be in the McCloud - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma area. How is your mom. I remember talking to her a few (at least 20) years ago. But I can't seem to find her now. If you have any new info on your dad. let me know. Barbara WHite 573-325-8818. or email me: barbara_white4@yahoo.com. This is really exciting that I finaly found somebody. very anxious to hear from you. Your Aunt Barb.
Agnes McCrone & John Chisholm Md. 1818 Sanquhar, Dumfriesshire, Scotland

John and Agnes went to live in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. I got their date of marriage from the IGI but couldn't find any other info on them until a year ago. They married July 12, 1818 in Sanquhar and several of their children were born there. I found them on the 1841 census in Kilmarnock. Agnes died before the 1851 census but I found John and several of their children there.

Their son John married and lived in Kilmarnock, later in Greenock, and finally in Glasgow. One of John Jr.'s children was Archibald Chisholm.

Their daughter Mary married James Reid Harkness and lived in Kirkconnel parish, Dumfriesshire.

Their daughter Janet married a Dunlop (if I remember correctly) and lived in Kilmarnock.

I am still trying to find out what happened to son William, daughter Elizabeth, and to daughter, or granddaughter Jessie.

Son George doesn't appear to have married and lived in Kilmarnock, dieing in approx. early 1870's in Kilmarnock.

John Chisholm senior's parents were George Chisholm and Betty Laidly (probably really Laidlaw), and I think he was born in Crawfordjohn parish, Lanarkshire. John had siblings who were baptized in Crawfordjohn parish, but also some who may have been born in Dumfriesshire.

I want want to know more about John and Agnes's children: daughter Mary Chisholm b about 1819 md James Reid Harkness of Kirkconnel, Dumfrisshire (only 3 miles from Sanquhar). Mary died Aug. 16, 1881 and is buried in Kirkconnel Churchyard. James R. Harkness the son of Andrew Harkness & wife Jane Simpson(who lived in Kirkconnel and are also bd. in the churchyard there).

The grave of John & Agnes Chisholm is in Kilmarnock. I also want to know who Agnes McCrone's parents were.

Please contact me directly at
jifjc@primus.ca
OR at
jif137@hotmail.com
OR by mail C/O Richard Finney, 33 St. Louis Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2M 3J4, Canada.
Janet Isobelle Finney

DATA: McCrone, Richard listed in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

DATA Message RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA).

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s):

McCrone, Richard (Sparrow)
McCrone, Richard

There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message.

If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Their son Millege was my great grandfather. My Grandmothers name is Lovie Dell Sanders. She married Lehman Sanders of Geneva Alabama, then later Chipley Fla. My grandmother has told me that she remembers her grandmother being full blood cherokee, however,I cannot find evidence to substantiate that information. I have a bit of basic info on Mary and John Chester and their family I will list here later today for those who might be interested.

Re: McCrone's in Alabama

I have gotten most of what I have about Rhoda from a two different web sites. The first one is one that list a lot of cemeteries in Geneva County, Alabama. Go to this web site,

http://ctoutlaw.tripod.com/geneva/index.htm

After getting there click on Cemeteries. Then scroll down and look for Pondtown Church Cemetery and click on it. Then scroll down and look for Burch and then look for Henry Melton or a H.M. Burch, I forget which way he is listed. Anyway after finding him click on his name and it will bring up a list of the people burried on that row in the cemetery. Look for his name and then Rhoda McCrone name is listed next to his.

The second web site that I also found some information is,

http://www.edenfield.org/

that was very helpful in giving more information about the family for a few generations.

After looking at my files I did find where I had found them in the Census. Rhoda is listed in the 1870 census under her mother, I believe the father had died early. Look in 1870 Florida Census, Holmes County, Post Office Mitic, under McCrone, Jane S.. Then also in the 1860 Florida Census, Holmes County, Cenozorilla Post Office, John L.B. McCroan. And the 1850 Florida Census, Holmes County, 3rd Division, page 544, Bury McCrone. The next one that I have I think is John L.B. McCroan's father John McCroan listed in the 1830 Georgia Census, Thomas County, Page 17 line 10. That is all that I have as far as where I found them in the Census data. I got most of this Census data from Ancestry.com, when I had a subscription to the information.

There is information about the McCroans on familysearch.org also. But it is mainly about the first McCroans that came to America.

Please let me know if you find anything new. What I would like to know is when the McCroans came to America and on what ship and where they landed. So if you find anything like that please let me know.

Hope this helps.

Mark

I am also looking for McCrone. My
great grandfather was James Melton McCrone.
I have heard they may have been in the Bonifay
Holmes Cty Fl area rather than AL. This might
help you in your search. My timeframe is approx.
1870-1880's.

Yes. The info I have about James Melton McCrone
is a land grant in Holmes Cty dated 1891.
Unfortunately that is all I have. My other ancestors
the Pate's traveled back and forth over state lines
of Al and Fl. Hopefully when I have more time this summer
I will be able to check the census.

James Melton McCrone married Rachel Pate, but I don
not know the date. Their daughter, Mary was my
grandmother and she was born approx. 1879.
