My great great grandmother was Mary Ann McColloch (spelling could vary). She married William Brady and they had several children in Glasgow. The names of the children I know of are John, Peggy or Margaret, Patrick who died in the Irish army, there maybe a Colin, and there is definitely a Frances (female). Frances is my great granmother. She married charles mcfarland, had two daughters, Alice and Mary Ann, and then got divorced and remarried Jesse Wrightsman. She died in the Dayton Ohio USA.

I'm trying to find anyone who may be related to me from Scotland.

Hello out there!

I am attempting to research my family ancestors and have come to a dead end. It has been written down, by my ancestors that a Rebecca McCulloch married a William Motheral/Modrall. Their children were born in Philadelphia, Pa.

Does this ring a bell with any one? I am trying to find out who the parents of Rebecca are. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advnace!

Christie

I am the great-nephew of Albert and Clara McCulloch. Clara McCulloch (nee Cock) was the sister of my grandmother Daisy Weeks.

Albert's father was from County Tyrone, Ireland, however, I do not know his first name except only to be told that his dad was a fire chief during horse drawn buggy days in Montreal, Quebec and was killed when the horses bolted on the way to a fire.

Albert and Clara had twelve children - eight of which survived:

Albert Jr.; William; Irene; Tommy; Hazel; Harold; Jack and Eddie.

They all had many children some of whom I know their whereabouts. However, if any relatives of the above - cousins regardless of how many times removed read this, please let me know as there are many gaps I need to fill in on the McCulloch side of my family.

Please feel free to contact me if you are a relative!

Douglas Weeks,
Windsor, Ontario, Canada

Thomas McCulloch b. Scotland 1811 - 1816

Can anyone help me with info about the ancestors of my 3x g grandfather Thomas McCulloch. According to census info he was born in Scotland anywhere between 1811 and 1816, although the dates may not be accurate. I would love to find out which part of Scotland he originated from. He married Elizabeth Rewcastle in 1935 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, surname recorded as McCollock. Their children were Barbara, Jane, Edward, Eleanor and William. He appears to have been known as Thomas Colley according to 1851,61,71 and 81 censuses but his name at death was recorded as McCollich in 1891. I have no info regarding his parents or siblings. His father's name was not shown on the marriage entry in parish records, so I am really stuck. Another spelling of the surname which has been used is McCullock. He was an iron worker for most of his life but became a coal miner later in life. I would welcome any information at all, or any suggestions.

Thanks
Clare

Sophia McCulloch, Precilla Williams

I am researching Sophia McCulloch Harris. Her date of birth was 1848? and she died shortly after the 1870 census. She married Robert Harris on 12/20/1865. After her death her husband Robert (From TN) and two daughters, Mary and Martha (Mattie - my ggrandmother) moved back to his home in Carroll County, TN and he remarried in 1873. I have had no success finding family connections for Sophia. In the 1860 Fayette County census, she is living with Precilla Williams. I have found a McCulloch child with the corresponding age living in the household of Elizabeth Inglish (a neighbor of Precilla) in the 1850 census. However, her first name is listed as Martha McCulloch. Elizabeth married between the censuses and moved away. I am interested in the grave marked as Sophie Darby in Woods Prairie Cemetery and the connection Precilla Williams and her son B.F.Darby.

My ancestor, Thomas J. McCulloch, his wife,
Elizabeth Dykes McCulloch and his
brother, Alexander came to Walker County, TX
from LA in the 1850's. Would like to hear
from others researching this line. Also, is
there a connection with Ben McCulloch's
Rutherford County, TN line?

Trying to locate information regarding William R. McCulloch (could be a slight difference of spelling this name) and Grace Maud Brown, his wife. William R. was born in Canada, 10 Sep 1876. Grace was born in Indiana, Sept. 1880. Grace died 31 Aug 1963 in Multnomah Co., Oregon. They had 4 children; Margaret b. abt. 1905 in Indiana; William Robert b. abt. 1906 in Pennsylvania (married to an Isabel Kathleen ? around 1930 in Portland); Ralph born abt. 1912 in Pennsylvania and Richard born about 1913 in Portland, Oregon where the family finally settled. I believe William and Grace did eventually get a divorce as well. Well..that is all I have on this family. Would really appreciate any info anyone might have. Thanks.
Rae Trine
raisy36@ameritech.net

I grew up hearing my dad was married before he married my mother and had 6-7 children by his first wife. I found in the Maryville Times Newspaper Archives online and in the Blount Co. TN microfilm a Beatrice McCulloch had married Elzie Bryant,March 8, 1934 in Blount Co., Maryville, TN. My dad's name was Roy Elzie Bryant, but he always went by the name Elzie. I'm hoping to find out if this is my dad's first family. My older brother says he remembers our grandfather speaking of a Beatrice McCulloch, but that could be here-say. Any information would be most helpful in my search. Thank you in advance.

Anyone have these names in their family?

Jane would have been born in 1837 in or around Barony - Calton, Lanark, Scotland near Glasgow. Her parents were Andrew and Jean or Janet Galloway Young. Seems on Janes marriage (1857) and death record (1898), her mom is noted as "Margaret".
Her sister Elizabeth , my GGrandmother, had her moms name on her marriage and death record as "Janet".
On their mom's marriage record on June 27, 1834 it was recorded as Jean Galloway married to Andrew Young at the United Secession Chapel on Campbell Street in Glasgow.
Jean or Janet or Margaret came from a large family of 9 children. There was a Jean born in 1811, a Janet born in 1819 and a Margaret born in 1822.On the 1841 census for the Young family, Jean is listed as 27 years old which wold make her birth neither 1819 or 1811.

I now have some new info on the Young family and a bit on the Galloways.

I'm looking for one John McCulloch who may have participated in the American Revelotion, possibly as a Loyalist, or was the child of a McCulloch Loyalist. He/they may have left the States for Florida and then Jamaica sometime in the 1780s after the war was lost to them. This John McCulloch quite possibly lived on the Mosquito Coast until it was abandoned, and finally ended up in British honduras where he died in 1808.

If you know of any McCulloch Loyalists who left the States for Florida and the Caribbean after the Revolution was won, please contact me.

Also, if you have access to the list of Loyalist and their dependents (5,000+ all told) who left Florida for Jamaica in early 1780s, I am most interested in taking a look at it.

I am looking for the obituary or any information on my 3rd great grandfather David L. McCullough (also McCulloch) who died of Typhoid Fever on 15 July 1863 in Latrobe, Westmoreland County, PA shortly after his muster-out of the Army. He was born abt 1818 in PA, where beyond that I don't know. I don't know the names of his parents or siblings. He served in the Civil War first as the Commander of Company F, 135th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, recruited in Westmoreland County, and was later promoted to Lieut-Col of the Regiment. I also know from George Dallas Albert's Hist. of Westmoreland County that he was the first Chief Burgess of the Latrobe Borough in 1854, a position that he held until 1860, and then again for part of the year in 1862 until he enlisted. He was also a member of the Loyalhanna Lodge Free & Accepted Masons in Latrobe, PA and the Worshipful Master of the Lodge in 1859-1860. He was first married to Elizabeth Wakefield about 1842 (3 children of this union) and later to Harriet Riley in 1848 after Elizabeth's death (7 children of this union). Anything anyone can provide beyond that would be greatly appreciated. Thank You for your help!!!
Benjamin McCulloch 1789-1847

I'm searching for a spot to place my Thomas McCulloch b. bet. 1812-1817 TN who married abt. 1835 in Rutherford Co., TN to Mary "Polly" Glasscock, dau of Moses H. Glasscock. Does anyone know more about the children of Benjamin McCulloch & wife Sarah Ann Lytle? I've seen several submissions for this Benjamin McCulloch who settled early in Tennessee and had at least 12 children - some children's families shown, some not. There is a son Thomas James McCulloch in Benjamin's list of children, but nothing further shown for him.
My Thomas and Mary McCulloch left TN before 1840 and settled in Jackson Co., AL with her family. They are all there 1840 and 1850 census, after which time Mary's father died and his estate was settled 1858-59 showing that Mary McCulloch was now dec'd leaving children, James, Ellen & others unknown. Thomas and Mary appear on 1850 census with children: Sophia b. 1836, (James) Alexander b. 1838, Martha b. 1841, Ellen b. 1843, Moses b. 1847 and Shilo b. 1849.
Somehow, these children of Thomas & Mary McCulloch ended up by 1860 in Ripley Co., MO. Ellen became #2 wife of Melvin McCager Payne by 1870 and the others disappeared.
Since Thomas McCulloch married a Rutherford Co. girl, I'm guessing he also lived there nearby and might be the son of Benjamin and Sarah McCullogh. Can anyone help? Glad to share what I've gathered on Thomas and Mary's famiy.
Pamela G. Smith
Gresham, OR

Sophia McCulloch - Fayette County, TX

I am researching Sophia McCulloch, 1847/48-1870/71. I am interested in a child that is living in the household of Elizabeth Inglish and her children as shown on the 1850 census. The child is listed as Martha McCulloch. She is only 2 years old. I cannot find any other McCullochs in Fayette County in that census. In the 1860 census, I think it is the same child, name listed as Sophia McCulloch, who is living in the Precilla Williams household. The Williams family was only 4 houses away from the Inglish household in 1850. It does not give a date for Elizabeth Inglish's remarriage but that might offer an
explanation why Sophia was no longer living with her and was living in the Williams' household in 1860. There also is the possible connection of both Inglish & Williams families moving from Alabama to Texas.
Sophia married Robert Harris 12/20/1865, had 2 children by 1870, and died shortly thereafter. Robert returned to TN with the children and remarried by 1873. Sophia is my gggrandmother. If you have any possible information or source I might contact, I would greatly appreciate you sending it to me. I can't get past this brick wall!

McCullochs of Va.-Tinkling Springs Church

I hope the subject caught everyones attention so I can get some feedback on this family.
I found a book called The Tinkling Spring-Headwater of Freedom by Howard Wilson. This is located in Augusta Co., Va.
In it he transcribes the churches baptismal records. The following baptisms are recorded
Isaac McCollock
John 19 Apr 1741
Jennet 19 Jun 1743
James 29 Sep 1745
Joseph 27 Sep 1747

John McCollock
Samuel 11 July 1742
Thomas 14 Aug 1743
Alexander 1 Sep 1745

Thomas McCollock
Elizabeth 2 Nov 1745
Ann 2 Nov 1745

These names all fit with my McCullochs that live in Albemarle Co., Va. the county neighboring Augusta where Tinkling Spring lies. Does anyone know where this family ended up and if they moved on to Albemarle Co. or somewhere else? I believe that there were two Thomas McCullocks in the area at the time and that one of them moved to Blount Co., Tenn. Does anyone know if he belongs to this group or if this group is the one that moved on to Alb. Co.
I have a will of an Alexander McCulloch recorded in Alb. Co. in 1789. He leaves all his estate to his siblings but does not name them. Could this perhaps be the Alexander mentioned above?
I would appreciate any comments or thoughts on who these 3 McCullochs are.
Thanks for your time.
Joyce

Any info on DAVID MCCULLOCH born c1811 in Scotland. He was married Sept 5, 1834 in Neilston, Renfrew to SARAH HOWIE. I do not have his birthplace but expect it was in the Renfrew area. They emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario in 1841-1842. They were still in Renfrew for 1841 census. They had 8 children - David, John, Jane, William, Grace, Matthew, Sarah & Elizabeth. I do not have his date of death - c1872.

Found at a garage sale today a very old newspaper clipping of J.W. McCulloch. It is announcing his candidacy for the Supreme County of Oregon. Says he was married to Olive Robertson in 1900. He is the father of 5 children: Paul McCulloch, Mrs. R. R. Masterson, Ralph McCulloch, John McCulloch, and Ester McCulloch. Also some other very old newspaper clippings that probably have something to do with this family.

I'm trying to find info for Elizabeth McCulloch. She had a daughter Jean in 1824, to a Charles Milroy. I've been unable to find a marriage between Charles and Elizabeth, in fact I've not really been able to find any other information at all! In my family tree I have a Jean/Jane Milroy born to a Charles Milroy but some 10 years later so I'm not entirely sure that they are the same.

If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers
Fiona Cameron
UK

I have a William MacCULLOCH of Dyke Parish
who married on 7 Feb 1812
Mary ROSS who was born 29 Sept 1792 in Auldearn.

They named their children
Alexander 1813
William 1815
Isobel 1817
Mary 1819
Anne 1821
John 1822
James 1825
Henrietta 1827
Hugh 1829
George 1830
Margaret 1832
all baptized at Dyke

Mary ROSS McCULLOCH's parents were Alexander and Isobel WATSON ROSS - so maybe William's parents were William and Mary MacCULLOCH, as they seem to be following a traditional naming pattern.

With this many offspring, surely there are descendants out there someplace.

Anyone care to claim they connect to this family?

Thanks - Patti Flynn Heimsness
I am looking for any information on my ancestor James or Thomas McCulloch of Washington County TN. He was born c. 1750 in northern Ireland, and a landowner in Washington County NC by 1788. He had at least one son, my ggg gf, born in 1797 in what was now Washington County, TN. This son, Samuel David McCulloch, migrated up the Tennessee River in the early 1800s to Lincoln County TN and then to Lawrence County, Alabama, where he died in 1885. James/Thomas may have married a woman named Mary Cantrol/Kantrell.

All help or leads greatly appreciated!

Nancy Jenkins Bartholomew
There is a R. W. McCulloch pictured in the 1915 yearbook of Daniel Baker College in Brownwood, TX. A half-page is dedicated to him as a faculty member. He is a graduate of several North Carolina colleges and may be from there. Thought this might help some McCulloch researcher.
