I ran across this query while working on McCulloughs by doing a Google search.

You have at least one cousin working on your ancestral family. Eliada Wellington McCullough was the son of Isaac Everett McCullough and Margaret Sabrina SLACK.

I've been looking for info on your family since you are also descendants in my husband's PARISH family from Leeds Co., Upper Canada. The name Eliada comes from the Parish family--your direct ancestor was Eliada Parish from Leeds Co., originally from Vermont. Eliada died in early 1832.

Eliada Parish's daughter Laura b 1820 married Joseph Slack in Canada and then came to Decatur Co., Iowa. Margaret Slack was born in Canada in 1842. My late husband descended from Laura Parish Slack's older brother Hiram Parish, who died in Lee Co., Iowa in 1854. They all came from Canada in 1849.

Because of the Parish family and 2 others of my husband's in the same area, I specialize in research in Leeds Co., Ontario. I was contacted a little over a week ago by a gal who lives near Atlanta who is a cousin in your line. She descends from Eliada Slack, next older brother of Margaret.

If you'll contact me off-board, I'll pass on her name and email address so that you can contact her.

Sandy in Omaha
wunder dot woman at ymail dot com

I have his draft paper work listing him as divorced in 1942, He then married my grandmother in 1943 and fathered my dad before dying in World War II. I know my father has a half sister none of us have met. She contacted him when she was attending UCLA back in the late 50's, but my father was quite shy back then. Any information on him or the half sister or any offspring would be greatly appreciated.

John McCullough b. abt 1878 Ontario

The only record I have that I know is him is the 1916 census where he is recorded as living in Carrot River, Sask., Scotch ancestry, Presbyterian.
His wife was Maud McCullough, whom I believe to be Susan Maud Gerow. This is mostly based on their granddaughter's memory of what her grandmother's maiden name was.

I can find earlier census records for a couple of Johns born in 1878 to Scotch Presbyterian families but no connecting evidence. One of these is recorded at 3 yrs old in the 1881 census as living with the Grant family in Charlottenburg Ontario, and the other appears in the 1901 census living with his widowed mother Mary and two siblings in a boarding house in Montreal.

If anyone has any information regarding any of these people it would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Richard Kyllo

I have a photograph which may be associated with either William Marvin McCullough (1898-1963) of Lexington, KY or Louis des Cognets of Lexington, KY and Santa Barbara, CA. It was found in a book entitled "Productive Swine Husbandry". (I kid you not. :) ). The book has the names of both men on the front page.

The unidentified photo is of a young woman who appears to be in her twenties. She is nicely dressed and sitting on a woodpile. In the background are some 1920s vintage cars. If you are interested, please contact me

David McCullough He was born in Tandragee county Armagh about 1892 There is some confusion about his birth year as he seems to have fudged the date in order to enlist during the first World War to make himself old enough to serve. I believe he served with the Irish Fusilliers(sp?) He came to Canada in 1920 aboard I believe the Caronia
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Thomas Hugh McCullough b. 1825 Argyllshire Scotland d. 1898 ON Canada

My ancestor Thomas Hugh McCullough was born in Argylshire Scotland in 1825... his family moved to Belfast Ireland sometime before 1843 (though his wife Martha Wilson was also born in Scotland) and left Ireland after 1861 to come to Canada - they settled in Middlesex ON. The family lore is that they left Ireland because one of his brothers was either murdered or murdered someone...

I have no knowledge of who Thomas's brothers or father might have been and only family lore that claims he emigrated with brothers to Canada (through New York possibly - though intensive searches through passenger manifests have yet to uncover them).

Does he fit somewhere in your family tree?

Else May Valborg Ask McCullough, age 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, following a brief illness. Born May 19, 1926 in Montclair, New Jersey, Else was the daughter of the late John Jorgenson and Sigrun Moe Ask. Else grew up in Montclair, New Jersey, graduated from Montclair High School and received her B.A. from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She worked for Smith, Kline and French Pharmaceuticals as a Medical Correspondent in Philadelphia, and after moving to Erie in 1955 she worked for the Erie Times-News as a feature writer. Once children arrived her avocation became mother and homemaker. Else was a long time devoted member of Luther Memorial Church. She particularly loved singing in the choir, where she developed many close and lasting friendships. We suspect that Else reluctantly resigned from the choir when her voice began to crack, although she would have us believe it was because she no longer could scale the steps to the choir loft. She loved to ski, particularly the weekend parties at "the Peak" and those special trips out West. She also enjoyed gardening, golf, sewing and quilting, cooking and baking cookies and other goodies to share with others. Else truly loved her years living in "the house on the hill," where many good times were shared with family and friends. She devoutly attended the sporting and extracurricular events of her own kids, and she continued this passion with her grandchildren. Her greatest joy, however, was that she was blessed to share in and impact the young lives of her grandchildren. She is particularly thankful for the time she was able to spend with Reina and Blake, both of whom shared "Mimi's" home and developed extremely close relationships with her that were so apparent during Else's last days. Mimi thanks you both. In addition to her parents, Else was preceded in death by a brother, Jurgen Ask; two sisters, Solveig Bauer and Ingrid Williams; dear nieces, Janice Bauer and Kristin Williams; and a nephew, Peter Ask. Survivors include her son, Matthew W. McCullough, his wife, Daren, and their boys, Seth and Owen; her daughter, Sue Anne Chase, and her children, Reina and Blake Hockett; several nieces, nephews and very close friends; and a special friend, Robert B. McCullough. Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Homes, 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Friday, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, January 14, at Luther Memorial Church, 225 W. Tenth Street, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. William Coleman presiding. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church â€" Music Program, 225 W. Tenth St., Erie, PA 16502 or The Humane Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania, 2507 Zimmerly Rd., Erie, PA 16506.
Else's family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent Medical Center 9 North, St. Mary's Home of Erie,
in the Erie Times-News on January 12, 2012 .

Luther Memorial Church."
In order to get good "matches" you need to include locations (in the US) and dates...

The more information you include, the better your chances.

Raymond Allen McCullough's first wife was surnamed Osbourne. The only daughter of that marriage was named Anne. I believe he married at least once more, possibly twice, but I have done no research on those marriages or their offspring. There is some info on the Osborne line in a Rootsweb tree. Sorry not to be more help wth paper genealogy. One way forward would be to yDNA test one of your Mom's younger brothers, Mac or Jackie.
I unfortunately have little info. My father never knew his father. My grandmother entered the name on his birth certificate, but told him that James died in a car crash. All I know is my father died not knowing anything and it was hard for him. This James C. McCullough would have worked in detroit in the 30's and possibly Chicago. Whether his died early or the relationship was short is something my grandmother took to her grave. I would just like to know something if possible. My dad was 5ft11in. and that did not come from his slovak side :)

Hello, I believe that my mother was the daughter of Raymond Allen McCullough. Growing up my mother often spoke of her dad and how he was adopted and that she wished she could find him. Her parents where from NC and the last time she saw him was at the age of 7. Her mother's maiden name was Mary Ellen Richardson and they had 3 children. My mom Mary Frances and she had 2 younger brothers, Mac and Jackie. My mother died in 2007, but her two brothers are still alive. I look forward to discussing this with you in more detail. Thanks! Martha :)
McCullough Family in Florida.

I am stuck. I am searching for information on the Charles Edward McCullough b. abt 1931. His Mother was Harriet Mary Moran (possibly married to a FOLEY prior to 1930). Father is George Edward McCullough. 2 brothers-- Bruce D. McCullough born in 1930, and Paul S. McCullough born on Oct 21 1932.

Both Harriet and George were into their 30's when they began having children, and had 3 children in 3 years. That leads me to believe that they were not married until around 1928-1930. I also suspect that there was an additional family prior to their marriage, but that is only a guess.

I have conversed with someone who has a marriage for Harriet in 1923-1937 to a Foley, via divorce papers, that also list children from that union.

The only evidence I have from MY set of McCullough's is a 1935 Florida census listing George, Harriet, Bruce,Charles, and Paul.

I am truely stuck! I have photographs of these people, as well as a few jotted down baby book entries, but otherwise they are ghosts!

Stan,

Could you give me a little bit more detail about your John Jr. McCullough and Sarah Morgan -specifically birth dates and children's names, if you have them. Also where did John Sr. move from?

I have John McCullough b. about 1815 in Kentucky who marries a Sarah A. ??? born about 1822 in Tennessee. By 1842 this family has moved to Wisconsin where several children are born and by about 1856 they have moved to Missouri where one child is born and by 1860 to Craighead, Arkansas where the last child (Sterling P.) is born and they remain until their deaths.

I am stuck with where to go with this family. All I know about my John's parents are that according to the 1880 census they are both likely born in Virginia.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

George and John are half-brothers, sons of William McCulloch (b. 1718 Scotland).

This is the information that I have been given:
William McCulloch (b. 30 Nov 1718 Whithorn, Wigtown, Scotland, d. 1784 Hopewell Twp., Washington Co., PA)
married Margaret Lettom (b. ~1723) in 1743
Parents of:
Alexander McCollough (b. 1745 Scotland, d.1831)
George McCollough (b. 1755 Scotland, d. 1813)
William McCollough (b. Scotland)

William McCulloch (1718) emigrated with his sons to PA
married (unknown)
Parents of:
John McCollough (b. 3 Apr 1766 Peters Twp., Washington Co., PA)

I have been unable to trace this line back from William McCulloch (b. 1718 Whithorn, Wigtown,Scotland). I understand the last name may be any of hundreds of spellings as we go back in time. I also would appreciate information about descendants including spouses and children, and places and history.

I am also searching for genealogy information about my great grandmother, Isabella Arnold (b. 1832 Ohio d. 1900) who married William McCollough (b. 11 Oct 1822 Nottingham Twp., Harrison Co., OH) on 1 May 1850 in Unionville, Blement Co., OH. Both William and Isabel died in LaMoille, Marshall Co., IA in 1900.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Camille McCollough Rogers

My email address is camroger@frontiernet.net
