I looking for information and relatives of Miles McDonough. Miles was born to Mary Brogan and Michael McDonough abt. 1865 England. Mary and Michael were born in Ireland abt 1838. The family came to Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York Abt. August 1871. Miles had a sister named Catherine McDonough Parker, my great grandmother. I've not been able to find any information about Miles after 1880 on the census. I've not been able to find even a death certificate for him.

I am looking for information on Miles McDonough born Lancashire, Leigh, England 1863-1865. Parents were Michael McDonough and Mary Brogan both born in Ireland. He had a sister named Catherine Parker nee McDonough. The family came to Brooklyn, NY in 1871 from England and lived in Red Hook, Brooklyn, NY. Miles married Amy Correns in Jamesburg, NJ 1884. He lived in Spotsville, NJ where he died in 1889. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi My name is Maria James and my great grandmother was Maria McDonagh. She was a lodger at 18 Airdriehill Square, Airdrie in 1891 when she married my great grandfather Thomas O'Brien who lived in the same street. I am trying to trace what happened to her as she was in the 1901 census in Scotland with her husband and children but he died later that year and she seemed to disappear between then and 1922 when she was noted as dead as she was deceased at her sons wedding that year. in the 1911 census her children were living with her husbands mother. I think the family name may come from Galway or Roscommon but I cannot seem to trace her, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Maria x

I'm sorry but I have no information that could help you substantiate that. There are endless possibilities because the name John McDonough was so common. I do know there was some family connection to Connecticut because John's wife, Patience, and at least one of their children was listed as having been born there. -Art

I have come to believe that John McDonough b. 1799, Joseph Bernard's father, emigrated from Balymote, County Sligo, Ireland. County Sligo appears to be the family seat, along with County Mayo. Its a variant spelling of the McDonaghs. He probably came into Philadelphia sometime between 1811 and 1820, I am thinking 1818 since he would have been old enough to travel. Of course he could have been younger an accompanied an adult.

I have Michael McDonough (c 1811) married to Bridget Fallon in Liverpool from the 1830s onwards. Liverpool censuses shows them as from Roscommon, Ireland. I've located their children but not their parents. Unable to link Michael and Bridget to other Fallons or McDonoughs in Liverpool of same generation at the time. Michael and Bridget's children (Mary, Patrick, Winifred, Edward, John) have Fallon, McDonough, Moran and Costello godparents. Please can anyone tell me how they are related to other Liverpool and Irish McDonoughs born 1820 or before?

I am trying to locate information about my McDonough family that resided in Venango County, PA. My gg grandfather was John Anthony McDonough b. 1844 somewhere in PA and married Sarah Matilda Knox. I am searching for his death date, burial and name of his parents. His son and my great grandfather was also John Anthony McDonough who married Hazel Hughes.

Do we share ancestors? I have a good deal of information to share regards their English descendants but am struggling push the tree past Patrick's father.

Does anyone have any information about Eliza McDono who married Richard Monck by special licence in 1825. She lived most of her married life in Banagher, Co. Offaly and died in Banagher in 1871.On the licence there is a witness, a Bryan mcDono either a brother or possible father.

I have an ancestor, Sarah McDonough (daughter of Hugh McDonough), born in 1821 in Pennsylvania. Sarah married Martin Connolly and they lived in Pennsylvania along with many of their relatives. Sarah died in 1899.

I can supply more information if this sounds like your McDonough-Connolly line. Sarah's father, Hugh, travelled to the US from Ireland along with his parents (Thomas & Catherine McDonough) on the Cornelia in 1803.

I have a couple McDonoughs in my tree. I have been investigating Sullivan from Tishmane, Carraroe Co Galway.

I know of Bartholomew Sullivan (Keeraunbeg)who had two boys Bartley (DOB about 1850) and Patrick (DOB about 1855)of Tishmane. There is connections through marriage to Folan, Keane, Mogan and McDonough all from around the Carraroe area.

I am seeking information concerning my G-Grandmother Catherine McDonough, B. 1873 @ Lancashire, D. 1949 @ Providence, Rhode Island. Catherine was reportedly one of sixteen children born to Michael McDonough and Ann Logan of Lancashire.

Catherine emigrated from England to Rhode Island in 1894. One of her sisters, Brigid (PH), also emigrated to Rhode Island.

Catherine married my G-Grandfather, John Joseph Costello, B. 1873, D. 1927. They had five children and resided in Providence.

I'm trying to trace the children of Freda and Albert McDonough, originally from Vienna Street. Freda trained as an S.E.N at Bootle hospital before moving to Mill Road Hospital. The couple had three daughters Patricia, Angela and Christina. Patricia became a teacher prior to her marriage. Angela followed in mum's footsteps training at Newsham General Hospital and later working on the out patient clinic Walton Hosp. I think she still lives in the area but not sure. As for Christina I have no idea but I do know they all married. Any information regarding any of the family would be a great help.

He had a brother William H who passed in 1951, sister Cathrine, sister Ann married to a Charles St Jacques. His fathers name might have been Patrick. Any records I find here,Jane is a widow and has eight living children although I can find only four. Thanks Irving, this is all very good information. It backs up what my father can remember. His grandfather is Joseph MacDermottroe. Joseph was put into an orphanage and shipped off to Canada when he was young. My dad doesn't remember anything about him having any siblings. My dad was told that Patrick was in a war (my dad thinks Boer war), which ended about the time you say he died 1882. Joseph died in 1950. He had one daughter, my grandmother.
Thanks again, it clears up years and years of guessing.

I'm a McDonagh who grew up in Tishmane, Carraroe. I'm not related to Connollys through my McDonagh side as far as I know, but my maternal grandfather's sister Mary(Dot) Grealish married a Patrick Connolly.

There could be, and hopefully, is a family connection. Unfortunately, I have nothing for any McDonoughs in NJ except for what I presented in my initial posting about Eustace (Stace, Stacy) McDonough born 1766 in Essex County.

Have you checked at the circuit clerk and county clerk offices in Essex County, NJ for early (1700s) wills, probate records of some sort, land records, etc.? If so, I'd appreciate learning about what you have.

If you'd be interested in what I have about Stacy McDonough and his descendents after his leaving NJ, let me know.

My maternal grandfather was Matthew McDonough and was fireman in Youngstown. I have recently become a member of ancestry.com and have been trying to find info on the family. His father immigrated here from Ireland and all of the children were born in America. My mother would be either your grandfather or father's first cousin.

Do you know anything more about where in Sligo they cam efrom? There were a LOT of McDonoughs in the area,including my grandfather, who came from the small town of Ballyfarnan, or the even smaller townland of Carricknagrip. He had a lot of family emigrate to MA in the 1870s-early 1900s. If you think he might have been from that area (which straddles the border of County Roscommon), let me know.

Unfortunately this is not the Catherine McDonough I am seeking. My Catherine was the daughter of Patrick Donnelly and Mary Keefe Donnelly. They emigrated to the US in 1856 and I'm trying to get info on Irish family history.

Could you tell me the Ward numbers for these two families in 1870? I'm having a hard time finding either one. Also, is 131 Mt. Vernon the correct address? I can't seem to find the 100 block of Mt. Vernon on a map from 1875.
