I'm wondering if either of you had come across a possible sibling named Margaret. I have a Margaret McFadden in my tree who was born around 1780. She married Richard Touchburn/Tichborne and they also came to Canada in 1832 from Fermanagh. From the similarities it seems like there is a decent chance of a relation. I would appreciate any information you may have.
Thanks!

Found a book: "Decennial Record of the Class of 1896, Yale College" - Yale University Class of 1896 Compiled by Clarence S. Day, Jr. - Class Secretary. Printed by the class at the De Vinne Press, New York, 1907. [book found on google books]

See Pages 468-470 - "William Adams McFadden"

[Adams McFadden had a son Francis Thomas McFadden who had a son William Adams McFadden who went to Yale College. It mentioned on pages 468-470 about him and his family background].

It writes, that William Adams McFadden was born 8 May 1873 Cincinnati, Ohio and is the son of Francis T. McFadden and Elizabeth Adams, who were married in Cincinnati, Ohio. Francis T. McFadden was born 16 Aug 1842 Zanesville, Ohio, and died 10 Aug 1892 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He spent most of his life at Cincinnati and New York City. He was the eastern representative of the "Chicago Tribune," "St. Louis Globe Democrat," and other western newspapers. It writes that this family came to America about the year 1800 and settled in Pittsburg.

The article goes on to talk about William Adams McFadden.

Your information is interesting...

Adams McFadden [name possibly William Adams McFadden] married in 25 Oct 1836 - Zanesville, OH to Elizabeth Twycross Adams b. 1805 MA - d. 1862 Muskingum County, Ohio. Elizabeth was the daughter of Seth Adams and Elizabeth Apthorp. Seth Adams b. 1 Apr 1767 Boston, Suffolk, MA - d. 5 Sep 1852 Zanesville, Muskingum, OH. His wife Elizabeth Apthorp b. abt 1769 Boston, Suffolk, MA - d. 18 Aug 1852 Zanesville, Muskingum, OH.

I found an article on Ancestry.com from: "The Frontier State, 1803-1825." Chapter VI - The Farm in Production, page 165, which reads: "The first Merino [type of sheep] were probably brought into the State [Ohio] by Seth Adams, of Muskingum County, who obtained his animals in Massachusetts." Seth Adams raised sheep. I have family information about the ribbons won raising sheep in OH, but I thought this was connected with the Adams side of the family.

Adams McFadden marriage to his first wife Martha Wallace, and had two daughters: Mary Wallace McFadden b. 29 Feb 1830 Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA, and Jane A. McFadden b. 14 Feb 1831 PA.

I do know there was connection with KY - possibly Newport, Campbell County, KY?

I have traced Thomas McFadden's children and their decendents in Washington Co., and Allegheny Co., PA and in OH, and later traveling west.

Ancestry.com has a book - "Maryland Genealogies, Vol 1 - The Brooke family, page 124-127. Talks about Thomas McFadden and his wife Ann Adams. Margaret Wallace McFadden [dau. of Adams McFadden and granddaughter of Thomas McFadden] married Robert Fulton Brooke. But I have also Elizabeth McFadden dau. of Thomas and Ann (Adams) McFadden marrying Moses Dillon Brooke [who are the parents of Robert Fulton Brooke]. So I have a lot of cousins marrying cousins...Hope this make sense?

The only reference I have that connects the Connelly McFadden (1752-1840) I am working on, to the others in the William branch, is this note below from another tree that I cannot verify in any way. It is not clear who was born in Ireland and who was born in the US nor who their mother was. It seems he was married 2 or three times.

"William McFadden (1727-1801) and family (wife and sons: John, James, Hugh, and Conley) immigrated to America some time after 1752. William fought in the French-Indian Wars. He, his wife and children first moved to Kentucky. Leaving Hugh (1750-1819), (William (1760-1799) and Cornelius (1764-1799) in Kentucky; he, his wife and sons John (1746-1835), James (1748-1802), Thomas (1757-1812)and Conly (1752-1840) later settled in Western Pennsylania along the Ohio River, where they raised sheep."

I do know that Connelly McFadden came to the USA in 1757 and settled in Maryland (Per DAR Notation). He faught in the Revolutionary War (verified by descentants) in Pennsylvania Bet. Nov 1775 – Nov 1776 and New Jersey. He then moved to Kentucky abt 1793 and finally Ohio abt 1811.

Based on his information, the next step is to track down the source and validity of that note I have from another tree and then match the dates and locations they were to see if they match up.

What verified facts do you have on Thomas so far?

Thanks

-Christos

I think I am searching the same William McFadden Family, but my line goes off Williams's son - Thomas McFadden. Dates I have so far show that Thomas was born 1757 Ireland, and died 8 Oct 1812 in Washington Co., PA. He married Ann Adams born 1766 Ireland, and died - 19 Aug 1840 Zanesville, Muskingum Co., Ohio. She moved with her son - Adams McFadden (or possibly his name was William Adams McFadden?) to Ohio. Adams McFadden was born 1805 PA, and died 8 Mar 1879 Zanesville, Muskingum Co., Ohio. He married twice - (1) wife: Martha Wallace in KY? Children from this marriage: Mary Wallace McFadden (1830-1918), and Jane A. McFadden (1831-1910); (2) wife married 25 Oct 1836 Muskingum County, Ohio - Elizabeth Twycross Adams. Children: William "Willie" McFadden (1839-1842), Francis "Frank" Thomas McFadden (1842-1892); and Elizabeth Apthorp McFadden (1847-1928)

Are the names listed children and siblings?

Most of my paternal family history has been lost or those of the family avoide speaking of it.

Kira

P.S. I did some research and found out that Earl L. McFadden was b. 1894, d. 1961. He was married to Anna J Niehoff, b. 1900, d. 1961, married May 3, 1926, so due to birth dates, might not be the same Earl.

McFadden - McConnell - McConnellogue

Seeking information about a McConnellogue family (variable spelling) that lived in (Listack) Letterkenny, Donegal, Ireland in the 1800s/early 1900s. Patrick McConnellogue and Anna McFadden married at St Eunans in Letterkenny in 1856 and their children were Daniel (b 1859 - my gf), Mary (b 1862), Patrick (b 1868), twins John & Brigid (b 1871) & Alexander (b 1874). Daniel came to Bendigo, Australia where he was involved in harness racing. He married Annie Dore under McConnell but died in 1907 when his two sons were under three years of age. Mary married Nigel Higney (1896) at St Eunans & their daughter Margaret Higney subsequently married Robert O'Donnell (1923) there. Brigid married John Scanlon (1904) at St Eunans. At some stage prior to the mid-1800s, the McConnellogue family had lived in France for a time. Records indicate that Patrick snr had a brother Charles who was married to Margy Gallagher. They too had a son Daniel who worked for a time in the shipyard in Govan, Scotland; he married Rose Callan from Govan. Their children were Charles, George, Patrick, Daniel, Hugh and Margery.

I am looking for information on Albert G. Schultz. all I have comes from his marriage cert. in Washington state.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1896 Long Prairie Village, Todd, Minnesota. His parents were listed as Augustine Schultz from (Germany was crossed out and Switzerland wrote over it. His mother was Anna McFadden from Scotland. I know Albert was in ww2 and was a baker. He somehow got to Washington where he married Elsi Jensen. Then they moved to Idaho where they raised a family and he passed away. I am searching for information on his family. I have not been able to find them in the census. Either Minnesota or Federal. His children which only one survives knows nothing of his life. She thought he came from canada.
Dear Member,
I recently found your post and I'm interested in the descendants of John McFadden. Do you know if any descendants moved to Pennsylvania *near Lancaster/Dauphin Counties. I ask because my 4th Great Grandfather's name was Robert Kerr McFadden, and I can't find his parents. Thay may have lived in another state. If you have any information you can share on John's family, I'd be more than pleased to correspond with you.

Thank you,
Mark McFadden

Cathy and Butch,

I have been researching my wife's McFadden tree for a few months now and I see that the Hugh you mentioned is one of the siblings of my wife's gggrandfather, Connelly (b1753, d1840) from Coothill, Cavan, Ireland.

I know nothing more about their father William, besides what you have and I am not sure if he all 6-7 kids were from the same mother or not. I have all the Connelly tree completed now but was recently researching their brother John (b1746,d1835) trying to identif if he is the same one apearing in Cadiz, Harrison, Ohio from 1800 onwards.

Have you been able to discover anything new since 2005? :-)

Regards,

-Christos Nikolaidis

Attached is detail of birth of a William McFadden born to Rose McMonigle and Patrick McFadden in Donegal between 1869 and 1871. Site is RootsIreland and is at: http://www.rootsireland.ie/

Can't find a marriage certificate. However also attached is a link indicating that there were 2 people named Rose McMonigle born in Donegal between 1850 and 1855.

Its a start.

Good luck.

Frank

McFadden, William and Mary of Philadelphia, PA

Hi, I am looking for any info on William and Mary (Kane) McFadden of Philadelphia, PA. William and Mary were both born in Ireland. I believe they married here but not sure.
They had 3 children my gr. gr.gma Rose Ann McFadden b. 1864
Her brother James b. 1865 and other brother John b. 1873. Mary was born around 1834 and William was born around 1835.
I believe they may have at one time lived at 3528 Aspen Street. At least that is the residence listed on Mary's death certificate--if my research is correct. Trying to confirm some things. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Jenni

Hi:
I have a James McFadden, believed to be born in Armagh around 1775, member of the Royal Artillery, a veteran of the Peninsular War, believed to have come to Canada with the RA during the War of 1812.
He settled in Grenville County (Edwardburg Township) in 1820 (Concession 9, Lot 9), across the river from the property owned by Stringer McFadden.
James had 3 (or 4) sons, Uriah, Moses, and Hiram (maybe a William). He married Gertrude Hunter (nee Henion) around 1819? I believe he died in 1858 – (from British Army Pensioners Abroad 1772-1899 by NK Crowder, found at Ontario Archives -- James McFadden, 7th Battalion of Artillery, died 9 Jan 1858 source: WO120 Vol 70 page 483, Index 8609) (and Library & Archives Canada microfilm B5714) but it is NOT confirmed that this is father of Moses, but story and location fits.
I have been trying to find military record, marriage details, and confirm his death, as well as proof that Stringer was his brother (and any others).
I have info on Moses and his family, and some details on Uriah.
Regards, Ross
