Carr McGehee left 527 acres of land in Caroline County, Virginia. The newspaper notice to sell that land by his executor, Henry Chiles, was dated 24 Nov 1790.

Samuel McGehee of Amherst Co. VA (my line)
John McGehee of Bedford Co. VA

Emily J. McGaughey (sister of my gt., gt.,gt. grandfather, married widower Jacob Mullis Sr. in Arkansas, although they already had cildren together. Jacob Jr. returned with his mother to Mitchell, Lawrence Co.,IN, where he married. Finally, he died a widower in Vincenes Twp., Knox County, In., at age 58, from heat prostration, and was buried by Gardner Fun. Home, in cem at Georgia,, Law.Co, IN.He was civil war vet. Emily J. McGaughey (sometimes McGahey and sometimes McGaugha, was the sister of John McGaugha (my gt.gt. grand father) and Daniel McGaugha, of Jackson Co., IN.All born in entucky- parents not known. She married Jacob Mullis of Lawrence Co., IN, and they moved to Mountain Twp., Washington Co., Arkansas.(1850 census) He was 41 years older than she. He had been married before, with children, but together they had children. She is stil, listed there in 1860, during which period Jacob (a farmer and probably saw- mill operator) died. She returns to
Mitchell,Lawrence Co., IN.See 1870 census. She probably had a sister Lucinda who married a Hart, later a Jones. Also a sister Eliza thought to have married a Gray. PLEASE REPLY.

Emily J.McGauhey (b. ca. 1824 in Kentucky, probably Shelby Co.) married widower Jacob Mullis (b.cir 1775, N.C.: found in Jackson Co., 1820) and may have married in Jackson Co.,IN. They are found in 1850 census in "Mountain", Arkansas, with Jacob then 5 yrs old & sister Elizabeth, 2yrs. Can not find them in 1850, or 1860, but in 1870 Emily is the head of a household in Mitchell, Lawrence Co., IN, a county first settled by the Mullises, where they had a saw mill. After that she disappears. However she sold land in the 1860s in Barry County, Missouri to her brother John McGahey (Jackson Co., IN.). She had another brother, Daniel McGagghey,(Jackson Co., In. [Deed executed in Lawrence Co., IN.] She had a sister Eliza in Jacson Co., IN.)who married a Gray-moved to Louisville,. She had still another sister, Lacinda, who first married Jonathan Hart in 1845 in Jackson Co.,IN, but later to a Jones. Her parents are unknown but thought to be James McGaughey (sp. various ways) and Amanda Ellsworth.-sister to the Chief Justice

More information after I read all 48 pages of documentation:

Harry L. McGehee (only one document contains his name as Harry L. all the rest refer to him as H. L. )
Civil War- Confederate Soldier from Mississippi
Private in 18th Regiment, Company K “Burt Rifles”
He enlisted in Jackson, Mississippi on April 1, 1861.
Born in North Carolina
Occupation-planter
He was 20 years old when he enlisted, and he was Single not married.

Yet Another document states:
Mustered 24 May 1861 in the 18th Regiment under Captain E. D. Fontaine. It is noted he traveled 259 ½ miles for a rendezvous. He enlisted 7 June 1861 in Corinth, Mississippi.

One document stated he was reimbursed for transportation from Richmond, Virginia to Jackson, Mississippi and back, distance of 2074 miles at 2 cents per mile.

These records could apply to two H. L. McGehee’s. One was 23 when he enlisted and one was 20 years old when he enlisted. One joined in Corinth, Mississippi and one joined in Jackson, Mississippi.

Facts stated regarding Harry L. Mcgehee of 18th Mississippi Regiment Company K:
He was wounded at Malvern Hill.
11 July 1862- Authorized A. J. Manker to draw all money due him as he was wounded and could not attend in person (Four men from Company K authorized A. J. Manker to collect their pay as they were wounded and could not attend)
Furloughed 11 August 1862 through Dec 1862
He was on furlough from April 30, 1863 to June 30, 1863, signed out of Richmond,
Virginia.
He returned to service.
Was wounded again and treated at the General Hospital in Howards Grove, Richmond, Virginia on 15 May 1864. He was given 60 days furlough beginning 30 May 1864.
He returned to service.
23 Sept 1864- He was treated at the Confederate Soldiers Military Prison Hospital formerly General Hospital #9, Salisbury, North Carolina.
He was listed as a paroled Prisoner of War from the Surrendered Army of the Northern Virginia under the command of General Lee now under the command of Lt. General Grant.
He was treated at the Confederate Soldiers of America Hospital of Charlotte, Virginia on 31 Oct 1864. He was retired from service on 2 Nov 1864 due to losing the sight in his right eye during a battle at Wilderness on 6 May 1864.

I am searching for the parents and/or family of my GGGrandmother Charity Jane Elizabeth Hatfield. She was born November 16, 1850 possibly in Indiana. She married William Alfred Robinson on January 6, 1870 in Vigo County, Indiana. She died June 30, 1929 in Washington Township, Hancock County, Indiana and is buried in Mendon Cemetery Ingalls, Hancock County, Indiana. The first documentation I have that might be her is a listing in the 1860 Hamilton County, Indiana Census as Jane Hatfield age 10 living with the Edmond Maghee family. We don't know who her parents were or why she would be living with the Maghee family, so far I have found no connection between the Hatfield's and these Maghee's. Edmond is listed as insane on the 1870 census.

It's interesting that Sarah had a sister, Diannah MackGehee, who married Joseph Lipscomb. Also, the best information indicates that Sarah's father, Thomas MackGehee, was NOT James Mack Gregor, but rather Thomas's FATHER, William MacGahye was the original immigrant known previously as James Mack Gregor. This William had 2 sons: Thomas and William.

I am searching for information on any of the McGeehee's living in and around Jefferson County, Ala. who married a Doss. McGeehee may have been named Geneva or Rachel, married a Doss. They had several children, one known child was Nena Rachel Geneva Doss, b. 1911, Trafford, Ala. Other
children's names may have been Gladys, Uel, went by U.W., Preston, and Cleave.

Nena married Russell Williams and lived in Docena, Ala. until they died. They had three sons, Elmer, who drowned at age 12, Robert Earl, living, and Jerry, living. The boys were born in Warrior, Ala.

Any information on any of this family will be appreciated very much. My father is aging and has little knowledge of his family. The Williams side came from Pennsylvania.

MY gmother on my paternal side was daughter of Hezekiah and Nancy Rebecca.......Her name was Eliza Catherine McGeehee...She was born in waco in 1889..She married Andrew Jackson Jones early 1900's.....
There is a chris combs(sp!) whose gmothers name was Matilda McGeehee who married a bullock.........chris he/she has alot more info than I do his/her e-mail is MCDC45@aol.com.......I found them on LDS....No children were listed.....
There was a book in the library about early waco, TX....There was a James or Jim McGeehee who was a constable in the late 1880"s.....I dont know if that was him or not......would like to correspond more......Hope to hear from you soon.....

I have no information that I think will help you . My grandfather was William Azoria McGeeHee. I do know that some times IT was spelled McGeHee. He Had Three sons ,named Claude, LLoydand J.R..He Had two brothers SamAnd John.He was born in Ok. he married Lenawest, a Cherokee Indian.This is all the information as of now .
