Thanks a lot! I have much of that information, but I had not checked the McSims and so I didnot realize about James and Susanna"s daughter Sara. I believe John McGinnis and Melissa Cornelius to be JAmes Albert McGinnis PArents, but I can not be 100 % sure. I also can not find what hasppened to James Susan or Sara in any records I search for.

I will look for information on thw William McGinnis you are searching for.
JAmie

I am looking for the brothers and sister of sweet william mcginnis. Sweet was born on feb 2 around 1880. He died on oct 31 1959. I was told that sweet left the plantation (in either va or nc) because they sold his mammy. He was 9 years old when he left home. He would not discuss any of his family and he never returned home or spoke to his family. I was told that his mother died in childbirth and his grandmother named him sweet william mcginnis. If anyone has any information please contact me. I am just started researching this so any info would be helpful.

Until there is an index, many of us are searching through numerous pages in hopes of finding our ancestors/relatives. I mainly search Vigo County, IN, and Clark County, IL, and when I find the name ON THIS BOARD (I am posting this same message on my other family boards), I will try to post the Enumeration District and page number for THIS name. I hope this helps and I would really appreciate it if you all could do the same. I suggest we have as the subject line "1940 Census" and the name of the individual. As an example, after I post this I will post "1940 Census Frank Collins, Vigo, IN." And then, in the message, I will post "Indiana, Vigo, West Terre Haute, 84-79, Page 21."
Very Best and Thanks,
Lynne

Linda~

Apparently we are in the same family. My great grandfather (3 times) was William McGinnis...his son Roy McGinnis is my grandfathers father. I have some information that might be helpful. My family tree is listed "Amiee Vincent" you can contact me at acryer79@gmail.com. I would love to talk to you. William is as far back as I can find. From what I gather, they travel him from Northern Ireland.
The Daily Oklahoman
Oklahoma City, OK
08-24-1904
p.2

HEADLESS BODY FOUND

Wyoming Man Supposed to Have Been
Murdered and Placed on Tracks

Rawlins, Wyo., Aug 23. - William T McGinnis of
Lander, Wyo., has been found on the railroad
at Ridge. His head had been severed from the
body by a train.

From indications the authorities entertain the
theory that the man was murdered and robbed
before the decapitation occurred, the body
being so placed that the first train would cut
off the head. McGinnis had relatives in Chicago
and had announced his intention of going to that
city before leaving Lander.

***posted for genealogical purposes only; no relation***
He eventually moved to Joliet, IL. between 1860 and 1865. If there is a chance this is the same family I would like to share any information.

He married Martha Clifford around 1835 and had a daughter named Susan Virginia McGinnis in 1836.

Hello,
I am trying to find out information on any children of a McGinnis that used different first names...James...Everett...Elsie...Elzie. He was born in Kentucky around 1897. My mother was his first child, maybe born out of wedlock, I don't know. But I was told that he had at least one other child after my mother. My mother is now deceased, she was born in 1920 or 1921 in Portsmouth, Ohio. I found some information that James Everett?? McGinnis may have married a Shirley Bruce in 1930...but then nothing of them between 1930 to 1971. In 1971 I found their divorce information that indicates 2 children born of the marriage. It is those children's names and approximate birth dates that I am trying to find. They would have been my aunt or uncle and their children would be my first counsins. Any information in this regard would be very appreciated.
Thank you.

Sorry, Oh! we who are McGinnis face a challenge! My grandmother's mother was a McGinnis (Illinois and Indiana -- total brick wall for me). I found more on the Dows. Hope any of this helps.
"My grandpa was Eddie Chancey McGinnis he was a fireman for the railroad. He was married to Ida Mae Dow and lived in Oklahoma.
He was born in approx. 1903 in Texas? Not positive about place of birth. He had several children. Some of the names are Bud McGinnis, Beaulah McGinnis, Alice McGinnis, Marjorie McGinnis, and Larry J McGinnis. He passed away in Oklahoma."
[from Alice's obit, the children of Eddie and Ida McGinnis are: Marjorie, Mary, Judy, Linda, Roberta, E.L (Buddy), Virginia, Rozella, Eddie (Butch), and Rick.
Are you certain that George Thomas McGinnis (b1882) is the son of the George Edmond McGinnis (b1861) who married Eliza Jane Smith? I think perhaps George Allison McGinnis (b1888) is their son, and George Edmond probably would not name two sons George.
Hope this helps:

GEORGE THOMAS MCGINNIS (09 Dec 1882 -- 23 Apr 1949, buried San Jacinto Co, TX)
Parents:
Spouse: Telitha Emeline Stringer

1930 Census: Texas > San Jacinto > Precinct 7 > District 9 > 6
Mcginnis Tom Head White 47 abt 1883 Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Dollie Wife White 48 abt 1882 Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Susie Daughter White 26 abt 1904 " " "
Mcginnis Linnie Daughter White 24 abt 1906
Mcginnis George Son White 22 abt 1908
Mcginnis Jefferson Son White 19 abt 1911
Mcginnis Henry Son White 17 abt 1913
Mcginnis Hondee Son White 14 abt 1916
Mcginnis Roy Son White 12 abt 1918
Mcginnis James Son White 8 abt 1922

1920 Census: Texas > San Jacinto > Justice Precinct 7 > District 139 > 10
Mcginnis G T Self (Head) Male White 37 abt 1883 Married Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Talitha E Wife Female White 38 abt 1882 Married Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Susie Daughter Female White 17 abt 1903 Single Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Linnie Daughter Female White 14 abt 1906 Single Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis George Son Male White 12 abt 1908 Single Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Jefferson Son Male White 9 abt 1911 Single Texas Texas Texas

World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 Record for George Thomas Mcginnis
Texas > San Jacinto County > 0 > Draft Card M > 18
Spouse: Telitha Emiline

1910 Census: Texas > San Jacinto > Justice Precinct 3 > District 0103 > 15
Maginnes George T Head Male White 27 1883 Married Texas Texas Texas
Maginnes Dollie E Wife Female White 28 1882 Married Texas Texas Texas
Maginnes Susin E Dau Female White 7 1903 Single Texas Texas Texas
Maginnes Linnie M Dau Female White 4 1906 Single Texas Texas Texas
Maginnes George W Son Male White 2 1908 Single Texas Texas Texas

George Thomas McGinnis marries Telitha "Dollie" Emeline Stringer,

1900 Census: Texas > San Jacinto > Evergreen > District 81 > 14
Smith Lenn Head White Male Jun 1869 30 Married 10 1890 Alabama Mississippi Alabama
Smith Mandy Wife White Female Apr 1870 30 Married 10 1890 Texas Mississippi Mississippi
Smith Cora Dau White Female Mar 1894 6 Texas Alabama Texas
Smith Willie Son White Male Dec 1897 2 Texas Alabama Texas
Smith Infant Son White Male May 1900 10/12 Texas Alabama Texas
Smith Infant Dau White Female May 1900 10/12 Texas Alabama Texas
Smith William Father White Male Aug 1838 61 Widowed Alabama Alabama Alabama
Smith Charlie Brother White Male Apr 1870 30 Single Alabama Alabama Alabama
Maginnis George Hired Man White Male Dec 1882 17 Single Texas Texas Texas

GEORGE ALLISON MCGINNIS (04 Aug 1888 -- 27 Dec 1956, buried Cleveland, Liberty Co, TX)
Parents: George Edmund McGinnis & Eliza Jane Smith
Spouse: Katherine "Kate" Elizabeth Isaacks (m1910)
Grandparents: Fletcher McGinnis & Matilda Francis Hager

1930 Census: Texas > Howard > Precinct 1 > District 6 > 37
Mcginnis George A Head White 42 abt 1888 Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Kate E Wife White 37 abt 1893 Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Ada C Dau White 18 abt 1912 “	“	“
Mcginnis Edwin E Son White 15 abt 1915
Mcginnis Joseph C Son White 13 abt 1917
Mcginnis Dorthy F Dau	White 8 abt 1922
Mcginnis Lillie R Dau White 5 abt 1925
Mcginnis Leo E Son White 2 9/12 abt 1927

1920 Census: Texas > Liberty > Cleveland > District 100 > 7
Mcginnis Geo A Self Male White 31 abt 1889 Married Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Kate Wife Female White 27 abt 1893 Married Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Ada Dau Female White 8 abt 1912 Single Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis Gene Son Male White 4 abt 1916 Single Texas Texas Texas
Mcginnis J.C.
