I am at the start of tracing family history. My great grandmother was a Mary McGowan who married John Nicholson from Sligo and moved to Glasgow where they both died within a short time of each other leaving 5 children. The boys went to Sligo for a short while, whilst the two girls (mary and bridget) were sent to family in New York (possibly New Jersey). Bridget's name was changed to Elizabeth, and she later married to become Elizabeth Hart. Any informaton would be helpful.
