I was wondering if Mack's wife, Evelyn's maiden name was Palmer? I have been trying to trace Evelyn's family knowing she passed away. Her family had some documents like a family bible and birth cert for my 4th great grandfather Alexander Flood. I was wondering if you know anymore about Evelyn and Mack's family.
Thank you,
Ken Maag
NJ

I broke through my brick wall when I discovered that I had the parents wrong. They are Emily Cole and Thomas McGraw. This opened up the whole Cole line for me.

I am still seeking their daughter Ida McGraw Williams who lived in New York and Massachusetts and possibly in New Hampshire 1900-1908. I have a blank from 1900 on in her life..

Hiram McGraw m Sarah Ann Collins/widowed Sarah m Mason Collins??

Children of Hiram McGraw & Sarah Ann Collins:

Susan Jane b c1839 KY
Anthony b 1843 Mason County KY
Sarah B. b c1845 KY

Little is known [by me] of Sarah Ann Collins. Born c1817 KY. Daughter of William b c1787 KY. Had at least one brother, William Jr. born KY. I have next to nothing on Collins clan except what I've found in census. In 1850 Sarah Ann is a widow. 1860 finds her living with a Mason Collins, 47, Milton J. 13, Anthony McGraw 18 (Sarah's son).
Unknown if Mason was a relative or, as another researcher suggested, she married another Collins, making her Sarah Ann Collins McGraw Collins.

Have some info on Susan Jane McGraw.
Have lots of info on Anthony.
Have almost nothing on Sarah B. except 1850 census.

Hiram Graw & Sarah Ann Collins are in my direct line, via Anthony McGraw. Can account for most descendants through present for Anthony.

Update Apr 3, 2012: Still looking to fill in the blanks on the Collins clan.

Hi all,
I'm looking for information on a Benjamin McGraw. He would be my Great Grandfather (paternal). I know he married a Phoebe Theriault (Terr) in Sheridan, ME on 11/2/1908. He was born 2 Jul 1884, Tracadie, NB, Canada and died 24 Feb 1929, Nashua, NH. This info was on the death certificate, which I have a copy of. I don't have a copy of his birth or marriage certificate or any info on who brothers or sisters may be or parents. Any help greatly appreciated.
Karen

This may be totally unrelated--or not.
My ancestor is Ransom McGraw born in Vermont ca 1798 to John McGraw and Salome (DeWolfe?). I know nothing about John except that he died ca 1801. His wife remarried THomas Coleman in Poultney, VT and they relocated to Cayuga County. John had several children before he died in addition to Ransom -Flavia and Fanny, possibly a Phebia or Phides who may have died young.
Ransom, interestingly, named his sons John, Marcus and Samuel. I have not been certain how many children Ransom had since there is almost a 10 year gap in one instance. I saw a Ransom McGraw born in 1827 NY out in Boscobel, WI who said his father was born in Vermont. However, this Ransom traced back to the McGrawville group, I believe father was WIlliam(?)

One other mystery is a James McGraw who appeared out of nowhere b. 1791 in NY according to the census, who was living in 1850 with the oldest daughter of Ransom, Adaline McGraw Titus. Have not located him before 1850 or after. Who is James?!

Anyway, I find myself wondering if this is all coincidence with the names or if my Ransom's (ca 1798 )father John (ca 1768-70*) was related to this Samuel of Vermont.

* date according to an obscure post I saw somewhere in the past

Hi Cindy, I moved shortly after this message came in. I don't have the means to do this searching. I did find out that they were married, I believe, in the USA sometime in 1859. In the 1860 census they had a girl, Mollie born June 1st, 1860 Virginia. I believe according to John's death certificate that he came over in 1858 alone. Would you know if there is a town called Tipperara? I found it on an old e-mail paper I had stored away. I was always under the impression that they were married in Ireland, but I don't think so anymore. She was their first child and they had 6.

I am replying to a post by James McGraw. My name is John F. McGraw born in 1932. My great grandfather is Francis McGraw who married Susan Gaffigan. They had two children, John and James. I have additional information concerning them and their decendents. This is a very late reply but I was browsing Rootsweb today and saw the post of 2003. I can be contacted at johnf2913@comcast.net.
Hi I am wondering if your ancestors (McGraw) are mine. I have been having the worst time getting my family tree going on the McGraw side. My father, his father and his father’s father all died young. The only living relative that I have still alive is my Aunt his sister, who is in her 80s and doesn’t remember my grandfather talking about his family much.
Maybe you could help me out. It would be very much appreciated. This is what I do know….My father was William Edward McGraw born in Boise City, Oklahoma 3/13/1934 to William T. McGraw. William T McGraw wasn’t born with a middle name, he added a “T” when he needed a middle initial for his SS card. His mother’s name was Francis Ragsdale
William “T” McGraw was born in 11/15/1902 in Texas I’m not sure exactly were but at 18 “Will” McGraw was on the 1920 census living at Justice Precinct 7, Cherokee, Texas, His Mother my Great-grandmother’s name is now Fowler. William T McGraw’s fathers name was William Henry McGraw, he too was born in Texas 1861 and supposedly was in the Dallas area. It is also rumored that he committed suicide.( I’m guessing that this is why young Will, brother Jerry and sister Adry was living with mom and family under the Fowler family.
I know that my father was extremely proud of his Irish descent. Using the 2nd and 3rd generation of names also seemed important. He died when I was 10.
This is all I have and it’s frustrating. The names in your tree are the same as mine but William was a popular name back then.
Any help would be appreciated,
Best regards,
Kathleen McGraw
I am not sure right now where that is.

William Mc Graw married Jane Thompson.
I got my tie-in of William MCGRAW to Edward MCGRAW SR from the book Gilsons on Gilsons Ridge, pp J.6-7.

Also Father Gallitzin's record lists William MCGRAW with wife Jane_____ and daughter Elizabeth Ann MCGRAW.
..........................................................

from the "Biography and History of Blair County", PA, 1892 pg. 424, by: Samuel T Wiley

"William MCGRAW ... was a native of Fredricksburg, Pennsylvania, where he kept the Goat Hotel for a number of years before his death, which occured at sixty-one years of age. He was a mill-burr manufacturer, a democrat in politics, and a strict member of the Catholic church. He married Jane THOMPSON, by whom he had three children, two sons and one daughter ( Eliza, who married John M. RHODES**) of whom only Mrs. RHODES (Eliza) is living.* (as of the time of this writing, 1892)

** Actually, Elizabeth MCGRAW was married to Abraham RHODES: 1850 U.S. Census, Huston Twp, Blair Co., PA; pg 122b
...........................................................

Is Jane THOMPSON listed specifically in Samuel MCGRAW's Will? Or is there some other direct evidence that Samuel MCGRAW's son, Edward, is the same Edward that married Jane THOMPSON? There appear to have been at least 3 Edward MCGRAWs floating around Bedford/Huntingdon/Blair County simultaneously. I'm not closed-minded, and in fact have ALWAYS maintained Edward M. MCGRAW's tree in my research totally seperate from William MCGRAW's family tree because I could not absolutely prove the connection with a document. Thanks.

I am sure William MCGRAW's (1790-1850)parents were definitely Edward MCGRAW Sr. (1754-1792) and Sarah SHIRLEY (1754-1832), not Samuel MCGRAW of York County. (It's well documented at the Blair Co. Genealogical Society.)
........................................................

"Edward MCGRAW Sr. moved from Lower Antietam Hundred, Washington Co., MD in 1779, but paid taxes on cattle there until 1782. He owned 300 acres in Hopewell Twp., Huntington Co., Pennsylvania in 1779. He was said to have been massacred by Indians when he went to get help for his sick wife."

* Source: "Newry Bicentennial" Brochure, Newry, PA 1976
..........................................................

Edward MCGRAW Sr and Sarah SHIRLEY had four sons, Peter (1784-1862), John (1787-?), William (1790-abt.1850), and Edward MCGRAW Jr.(1792-1862)and a daughter Mary MCGRAW (1783-1869).

John T. MCGRAW (1815-1875)and Elizabeth MCGRAW (1813-1893) were two of the three children of William MCGRAW(1790-abt. 1850). I strongly believe William's third child to be Edward M. MCGRAW (1816-1884), although I have yet to see any written documentation to my hypothesis, the coincidences are too great and his birthdate falls right in line with his assumed siblings. (I have yet to find any CONCLUSIVE documentation provided to back it up, and I've been working it for 15 years+.) William MCGRAW (1790-abt. 1850)was, in 1814, a burrmaker. Edward M. MCGRAW seems often to be confused with Edward MCGRAW Jr. (who also has a son named Edward... just to confuse things further.)

Edward MCGRAW Jr (1792-1862)was one of the founders of Blair County but was NOT the Keeper of the Almshouse (as portrayed on a recent plaque in the Newry Cemetary). The Keeper of the Almshouse was Edward M. MCGRAW (1816-1884), as noted in Edward M. MCGRAW's obituary. Edward M. MCGRAW was also a burrmaker, a maker of millstones, early in his life. John T. MCGRAW (his possible brother)was a miller.
McGraw in Indiana.

I am looking for information on my gggrandfather Terrence McGraw. When he came over from Ireland, in the 1850's, he had the last name of McGrath, but changed it when arriving.
He does have a record of settling in Richmond, and Rushville Indiana, in 1880. He was born in 1838 in Ireland
He married a Mary Hart, b. 1856 in Rushville Indiana. They were married in 1874. He was a tailor. I believe he had a younger sister, Mary, who was a dressmaker.
Their children were Thomas P. born 1875, John D. born 1876 Charles E. born 1880, Annie E. born 1183, George Francis known as (Frank)or(Mugsy)b.1885, William born 1879, and James A. born 1892. Terrence was a jockey in England and Ireland before coming to American. His son George Francis is my grandfather. Geroge moved to Indianapolis and married Hattie Coffman born 1900 of Tennessee on 1-1-1921 Their children were
Edwin Francis (living) b. 1922, Daniel Terrence (living),
James, Mary Elizabeth, John, Albert, Alice Rita, Charles Patrick, and Margareete.
If you have any information about this line of my family I would appreciate finding out about Terrence and the family he had in Ireland.

Hi Rick, Thank you so much, please send anything you can. We have searched for Wiley Hogan's mother forever. Do you know how many children John W. and Susan had? My husband had an aunt Callie (Wiley's daughter) and she may have named after her Grandmother! Susan Callie!!!
