Hello Martin: Have you made any progress with your McIlvennas in Ballymena, Antrim? I am still looking for the connection there for my McIlvennas. Would be interested to know if you have a Hugh or James McI who married a Margaret Ayr/e and went to Scotland.
Still searching..

Hello: My William McIlvenna was born in Ireland, poss Ballymena, Antrim. I have no connections to KNOX at this point..but you said he is an uncle-in-law...so possibly that is a ways down the tree branch that I've not encountered. Other names connected to him are HARVIE, AYR, do any of those look familiar??
Marilyn

Hello: I do not have any Cochranes or Knoxes in my trees. But do double check the spelling of your William's surname: ie Two 'n's or one..do you know where he was born? My William was born in Ireland, where exactly, is still unknown. If I come across any of your surnames I shall send you an alert here, if you watch it.
Marilyn

William McIlvena

Hi, I have a William McIlvena listed as a witness on a death certificate for a Janet Knox (8months old). He is listed as an uncle-in-law.
I am trying to find a connection to a Margaret Cochran of Ireland that married a James Knox. Their ninth child John Knox was born in May 16,1831 according to a birth certificate.
Any thoughts, information would be extremely welcome.

re MCILVENA surname and SOUTHMINSTER U.C.

I am hoping to find church members of Southminster United Church who have old photos of church members on various committees, groups which might include MCILVENA family members. In particular, I am looking for some photos of James and Agnes MCILVENA of Lethbridge, c 1910-1940. Any MCILVENA photos, or MCLEOD photos would be very welcome.
They are my grandparents, deceased before my birth, and no photos exist in my family as we lived far apart.
Thanks for considerations.
Marilyn

Thank you so very much, Jan. You have been most helpful with this family. I did have the info on those children of Hugh and Elizabeth Henderson McIlvena..and the William who m. Helen Steel is not ours, as they had no children. I do believe the Wm. who m. Alice Tetlow is the correct one, as Wm was a 'copper'.
I will be offline for a while, but please do send messages if you should come across anything else on my James, the elder (b. Ireland) m. Margaret Ayr/Air/Ayre (also b. Ireland) and he died in Airdrie, Scotland.
Thanks so much again,
Marilyn

Hoping you can tell me how the McIlvena ties to McIlvaine or some variation of the McElvain. I am hoping to tie my husband's family to Edward McIlvena. He is descended from Robert McIlvain b. 1715 Antrim, Ireland who emigrated to Pennsylvania. I have info back to Nigel Macylveyne 1395 Ayershire, Scotland.

Martin..I have not gotten that far back in my McI's but a connection is possible. My James date and place of birth, marriage unknown, married Margaret Ayr/e; poss. Ballymena, Antrim. His estimated birth date would be c1822; marr. date est. c1843/44. They had two sons, poss. three. He got to Scotland, died by 1861 when his eldest son, Hugh Graham McIlvenna was married.(according to Hugh's marr. cert.)
I hope in the time since you posted on RootsWeb that you have found more data..I have not.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Happy New Year 2002.
Marilyn McIlvena Sergi
