McLaughlins from Telfair, Georgia

Looking for any solid info on McLaughlin family from Telfair, Georgia. Daniel McLauchlin/McLachlin (more recent family changed to McLaughlin) was born 1784 in Scotland, married Margaret McMillan (approx.1823) when she lived at Little Shoe Heel in NC. Many of their descendants live in the Telfair area and also in Robeson, NC.
I am not able to find out who Daniel's parents are for sure, or trace anything back from Scotland. On some related trees a few people have Daniel's parents listed as John McLachlan and Flora McGillivray.
Would appreciate any info or leads. Thank you.

Thankyou for you response. I'm not sure who the ancestors to Willis Mclaughlin are yet. So far any descendant to this family tree that I've read about hasn't had a clue. Willis was always misteriously missing from any census past 1850. He worked on the James River I presume. His middle name could have possibly been James, but I've seen "M" written in as Mrs W.M. Mclaughlin. I will keep your query in mind. Many immigrants landed in either Pennsylvania, or N.Y.

Mclaughlin, Bishop Yancey County, N.C.

Willis McLaughlin, Louisa Bishop married sometime before their son James H. McLaughlin was born in Tennessee 1838 . Louisa claims her family was from Virginia, and Willis was a cargo shipman along the James River. Louisa told her children her father was not pleased with the union and cut her off. There is only one Willis I see living in Tennessee in 1840. This would match Willis's discription with 1 female in her 20's and 2 small children under 5 (James and Amanda). But there was a Willis Mclaughlin who married a Mary White in Greene County Tennessee. (Jefferson was made up of Greene and Hawkins county at this time) this would explain the marriage in Greene in 1818. but this Willis supposedly died in 1833. he would not have been on an 1840 Census. Mary White moved to Missouri, then Utah..(Perhaps he didn't die after all...)I see the surname of White living around this Willis Mclaughlin in 1840. The first Census with Mrs Louisa Mclaughlin is in Jefferson County -1850 Tennessee. Willis is not present, She has 4 children-James, Amanda, John and Nancy J. Also in Jefferson County 1850 there are 3 other Mclaughlin families as well...A John 55 and Nancy 60, both from Virginia, with a child James H 12- page 349B....Another with John and Elizabeth family with 4 children- pg 349B, and another J.S and Clary Mclaughlin family with 3 children- pg 365B.
I tried to narrow Bishop families down to Tennessee. Louisa appears in several Census's with birth place in Tennessee. If this is true there are 7 Bishops (men) all born before 1800 living in Tennessee in 1850 -Joseph, Wyatt, 2 Johns, Aisley, Edmond, and James. Louisa named her sons James and John, William and Nelson, would one of these be her fathers birth name?

I believe Howard McLaughlin was born in Seattle and his mother was named Florence, if this is the correct Howard, he had 2 brothers, Alvin and Ray. He was born in 1917. Howard and his mother and brothers were in the 1930 census living with William and Helen Mclaughlin, they are listed as relatives. William, my grandfather divorced Helen and married Florence in the 1930s.

I am also searching the NYC area around 1860-1875. I am looking for information on a Margaret A. Fields -- Who was married to a John McLaughlin, sometime in the 1860s in New York State.

I have discovered that her daughter, Margaret (Marguerite) Ann McLaughlin who was born 18 Jul 1866 in New York City, New York, USA may have been in an orphanage in NY at some time and the her father may have been someone other than John McLaughlin, as I have a hunch that Margaret (Marguerite) was adopted by her mother's husband, thus taking the last name McLaughlin. I have no proof to indicate this. I have tried searching orphanage records with no luck. I am unable to establish who her real father was.

I am trying to locate any other information about Margaret A. Fields Born around 1829, in New York City. As well as her Husband John McLaughlin who born in New York State around 1825.

If anyone has anything that can help me, please contact me

I have a Family Treemaker Research program, and
a Missouri program I signed up for. I can't remember their
names right now but I can tell you for sure later. I am going to work on McLaughlin a lot this summer. Dana

I am so hoping that we can connect these two Richards...
I live in MI, where are you? What age group do you teach? I am retired and have time to search, just limited resources on the internet.

But....this could be your Richard ten years later in 1880 just across the countyline in Wright County. This Richard McLaughlin is abt 20 (born abt 1860)---I know he is listed as 12 in the 1870 census, but I find frequent differences from one census to the next that most ages vary by a year or two and sometimes more. If your McLaughlin family cannot be found anywhere else in 1880, then I believe that this could be your Richard married to Sarah Frances "Fannie"(Smith) McLaughlin with her parents & family living next door.
I have ancestors from primarily Wright County, MO. However, I have found where some of them show up in Texas county for brief periods and then back in Wright county again.
I know we can't be sure, but I think there is a strong possibility that we have the same Richard.
Thank you for your quick response.

I am trying to find parents of Richard McLaughlin, born abt 1860 in MO. Married 1st to Sarah Frances Smith. They are found in 1880 census in Wright county MO, (neighboring Texas county) living next door to Sarah's Smith family. And then of course the 1890 census is unavailable. 1900 census he is married to Alice Seabolt who's family (my family) is in Wright county 1870 & 1880. I have some research material that indicates that Sarah & Richard had a daughter, Louella in 1880 or 81. Assuming that Sarah died perhaps during chidbirth, and then Richard went on to re-marry Alice who was much younger than him. Do you know if this is your Richard? He has been so elusive! Thank you for any info you can provide.

Daisy McLaughlin/Thomas Noonan/Leonard Noonan

I have been researching into my paternal grandmothers family. My initial research leads me to believe that her parents are Thomas Noonan and Daisy Mclaughlin. I ran into a block on the Noonan/McLaughlin line right there. I am having a hard time finding Daisy's parents. I have found 1 census record on ancestry.com, but no other documents can confirm this is who I am searching for. In fact, some documents confuse me more.

I found Daisy in the 1910 census listed as living with a Lee Howie and his wife Florence. Daisy's children are also living there listed as Lee's son's and daughter and she is listed as "Wife of Tom Noonan". In the 1920 census they are listed under Thomas Noonan as "Head of Household". Also, on the 1910 census (dated 1 week earlier) Thomas Noonan, age 34, is listed as living with his parents, Jeremiah and Anna.

To further confuse things I have found other family tree's that not only list Daisy as being married to Thomas, but also claiming to be married to a Leonard Noonan (the only Leonard I can find is the son of Thomas and Daisy who doesn't show up until the 1920 census at age 3 years 8 months).

The only information I can find on Daisy's parents is that her father was born in Iowa (as was Daisy), but her mother is only listed as born in the United States. I have found a 1900 census which has a Daisy McLaughlin born in Sydney Iowa to Joseph and Emma, born in Illinois and Maine respectively. Birthdate is June 1884, which is about 2-3 years before my ancestor according to later census records.

I have also found her surname to be spelled McGloughlin (this is the name shown on the only marriage information I can find).

Any help clearing this up will be greatly appreciated!

Hello - In the late 1800's Patrick McLaughlin came to US - he lived in Dorchester Massachesetts. He was from Malin Head.I believe he had a number of brothers - to our knowledge they remained in Ireland - some went to the city.He married Bridget Doherty from the same area - but I believe they married here. He had 6 daughters Helen, Greta, Anna, Mary, Claire and Rosella and one son(my dad) John Patrick McLaughliin. I beleive there may have been another son, Joseph that died as a child. My father is the youngest so historics are limited. I've attached paperwork that shows he cam initally in 1895 and returned to check on property for a short time. (Onepage has a womans photo that is just the previous entry. There is a picture of Patrick - who eerily my son, his great grandson - Sean. I hope this info elps let me knnow if there is a connection - However when my brother was there and looked at the church records everyone was of similar name - If I come across his parents name on my brothers if - I will forward that to you.. my brother John is on here - John McLaughlin - Marshfield MA

Hello..I was in Culdaff in 2007 to the opening of the Charles Macklin Theatre in Oct..I did meet a Mclaughlin while there but did not get any contact info. From my understanding the actor Charles Macklin was formally a Mclaughlin born in the Culdaff area. He changed his name to Macklin likely for the acting career as he performed in England as well. You can check him on the internet there is a fair amount of information there. I am distantly related to that McLaughlin side. I hope this might be of some help.

I wonder if Trimble county is near Wayne county where I found Samuel's marriage certificate to Sally Baker.
Does anyone have any Baker's in their lines. The Baker families are also seen in census records with the McLaughlin's.
