I don't have any connection to this family but found this while doing other research. I am posting hundreds of these “blurbs” because I believe it helps to see our ancestors as people rather than just names and dates and, in some cases, it helps to place where our ancestors were during a certain period of time.

This entry is from the Bi-Centennial issue of the Rockland, Maine Courier-Gazette. It is an article entitled "Rockland - City of Lime, Granite and Fishing."

"A.C. McLoon absorbed the Thorndike and Hix lobster business as well as that of Penobscot Fish Company in 1960, and this diision of McLoon interests was sold to Bay State Lobster Company in 1971."

A.C. McLoon was born in Rockland, Maine on Dec. 7, 1874 to Silas W. and Adelle M. (Peaslee) McLoon. He was married to Mabel Haines. Mr. McLoon's death was reported in the Dec. 21, 1965 issue of the Rockland, Maine Courier-Gazette.
