Hi
I'm interested in Agnes Dunne McNamee, born 1885. I believe she may be the Aunt of my late father. Does anyone know if this Agnes was born in either Celbridge, Dublin, Co Kildare, Ireland or Co Derry, Ireland? Also looking for information about her son Freddie and or daughter Pat. Any info would be appreciated.

Mike Dunne

Hi Anna May,

I know that my John McNamee was married to a Catherine, but I think we might be on to a link with the Hannah/Charles Gormley thing. Do you know when Hannah was born? Ellen/Ella McNamee was born sometime between 1877 and 1882. She married John Charles Gormley and went on to have 4 children: Catherine b. 1903, Helen b. 1907, Florence b. 1909, and John Charles b. 1912. Does this match anything you might have?

Thanks,
Sarah

I don't have a ton of information on Peter himself. According to information provided by a relative (as yet unconfirmed), he was born on 4-Jun-1889 in Larimer, PA (Westmoreland, Co.). He died in an automobile accident on 3-June-1938, and is buried in a McKeesport Catholic Church cemetery (not sure what church). That info. comes from his obituary:

-=-=-
FORMER CAMBRIAN IS AN AUTO VICTIM

CARROLLTOWN, June 3--Peter McNamee, 46, of McKeesport, a former resident of Cambria Cunty [sic], was killed Wednesday in an automobile accident near McKeesport. His wife was the late Marie (McCauley) McNamee, a former resident of Carrolltown.

Surviving are his mother and these children: Miss Rosella McNamee of New Jersey; Gertrude, wife of George Storm of St. Lawrence, and Ailene, Veronica, and Teresa McNamee, all residing near Carrolltown.

Funeral service will be conducted Monday morning in a McKeesport Catholic church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

[Johnstown Tribune: June 3, 1938]
-=-=-
I have quite a bit of information on Peter's family, including the birth and death records for both of his parents as well as their marriage record. Peter's father was William McNamee (1861-1923), and William's parents were Peter McNamee (c.1833-1870) and Jane Hughes. Peter's mother immigrated from Scotland (through Philadelphia) in 1882 with her family.

If you'd like to share information, contact me directly at glennchannell@aol.com.

Good Morning, Sally, and THANK YOU for the information. I knew the McNamee name was (1) common in Ireland, and (2) that the threads can run in so many directions. I appreciate your message and will take you up on your invite to view your tree. I will certainly research what you have and see where it leads me. I just got the Intl version and will try for a couple of months but then probably will go back to the USA only. I have a friend who does extensive genealogy and she gave me alot of ideas of where to search. Have you ever gone to the Ellis Island site? I plan to look at that one too.

Thank you again and I hope to hear (see) you again.

Maureen

Hi Maureen,

It's great to hear from you; yet another link to the McNamee clan. I started piecing together Mike's (my husband) family tree in 2006 or 2007. At that time, my findings to the McNamee tree were spotty at best. I hit a wall at his grandfather, Felix. Actually, his gfather and your ggrandfather are two different Felix's. The McNamee family tends to use the same names (Michael, Patrick, James, John, Peter, and the ever popular Felix). His gfather was born in 1876. You and Mike, however, do share a great-great grandfather, James McNamee, who married Frances Kieran. Two of their children, Patrick (married Mary Martin) and Felix (married Alice Rogers)are your great grandfathers.
Back in 2007 or 8, I began corresponding with Connie McNamee (Mary Concepta) from Australia. Her grandfather is John Patrick (1879-1956), brother of Felix (1876). Her gggrandfather is James, as well. She has a wonderful knowledge of the family and as I started sharing with her, the pieces fell into place.
In 2008, Mike received a letter from a McNamee relative (Tom Collins) who unbeknownst to us, lived in our area. I believe he found Mike through my work on Ancestry.com. We met them for dinner and found out there was a big McNamee reunion planned in County Cavan in 2009. Mike, his brother Joe, and Tom and Winnie Collins attended the reunion and the family tree flood waters opened up. There are large pockets of McNamees in Australia, New York, Texas, Minnesota, and of course, still in Ireland. Mike took many photos at the reunion, and I have posted them to my tree.
I have had only a United States membership most of the time. I tried the World Membership on a trial basis and although it opened up Irish documents, the price had recently sky rocketed. and I returned to USA.
I have sent you a guest invitation to view my tree. Feel free to glean as much information as is helpful. I'm currently working on my own tree, and have gotten in the habit of starting at Hints (photos), downloading them, and filling in my tree. The list of records is too overwhelming to tackle, but the photos lead to the family members, which lead to the specific records.
I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if I can be of any help.

Sally

My father's (Eugene Roger McNamee) grandfather was also Felix Joseph McNamee born 1845 in Killakeen, Cavan, Ireland and was married to Alice Rodgers (Rogers). They both passed away in Minneapolis, MN, where my father was born. I have just gotten today the international version of Ancestry.com and would appreciate any assistance in maneuvering around the world seeking any information on the McNamee trees. Who is your husband and who were/are his parents?

Thank you so much.

Maureen McNamee Boles
Texas

In addition to the Richard Samuel I described, I have a William Henry who was father of a William Earl born 5 Jan 1925, and another Willy Allen born about 1842-50. All in the Christiana area. Where is Victoria Town? I don't know of a Eliza Farquhar, but I don't have some of the wives names.

Why don't you send me a direct message with your email address, and a scan of the birth cert with the date?

Richard Samuel Allen on his Birth Registration(in Victoria Town) I believed his father was William Allen not Daniel Allen Sr...unless he went by another name. I know Richard's mother was Eliza Farquhar. Just making sure we have the same Richard Samuel Allen?

I can help you on the Allen side, and will leave it to the others who know more about the McNamee side to help you there.
Richard Samuel was one of about 9 children of Daniel Allen Sr. His other children were Daniel (Dan Dan), James (Jim Dan) Johnny (Jack), Tommy, Joseph, Jane, Inez & Hilda.

Daniel's parents were Jonathan and Jane Allen, who came from the UK in 1840/1841, and started having their first children in Jamaica that same year. I know of Jonathan Jr., Thomas (my g-g-grandfather), Willy, Daniel Sr. and possibly one more son.

Most of these Allens lived in Christiana Bottom, just to the NE of Christiana, and a little to the south of what is called Tyne Town on some maps.

Jean,
Can you work out the year that your grandfather Teddy died? How did Teddy die? Did he have any other names or nicknames that you know of? What year was your dad born? I am trying to figure out if we knew of your grandfather but have him listed by another name. We also have little bits and pieces of info that we don't know what to do with. If some of those bits fit with your information we can figure this out. email me at jaflowergirl@gmail.com
Nadine

Tacy died Nov 1834 Knox Co., O and is buried in Millwood Cemetery. One note says Barnabus went off to the California. Census record would indicate that Barnabas & Tacy had 6 children - three malse and three girls, The only other possible offspring is possibly a Sarah McNamee who married Richard Britton, in Knox Co., Oh

Abraham McNamee born c.1818 Knox County Ohio

I have the marriage of Abel McNamee and Eliza Hawn on 19 April 1834 in Knox County. Abraham McNamee and Elizabeth Hawn are the parents of Baldwin Pierce McNamee b. 1837 in Knox County Ohio. Pretty much confirmed by a will and baptismal records. In the 1820 census, both Barnabus McNamee and Isaac McNamee were residents of Knox County with male children of the age of Abraham. Barnabus, later in Meigs County had a son Abraham but born in 1828, too late to be the father of Baldwin, Oscar and Amanda. Has anyone seen any information on the names of the children of the Knox County Barnabus and Isaac? My brick wall was put up with super glue, but it is coming undone a brick at a time. Thanks for any help you can give.
