I'm looking for any information on Jane Buchan McQueen, she was born on the 19 July 1853 in Stirling,Scotland to Duncan and Rosanna (Dunsmore) McQueen.
Duncan was born on the 21 January 1824 in Stirling, Scotland and Rosanna was born on the 27 January 1822 in Kincardine By Doune, Perth, Scotland.
There were (3) more children:-
John b.23 January 1843
Duncan b.25 October 1846
William b.5 April 1849
All children were born in Stirling, Scotland.
In 1855 Duncan, Rosanna and their (3) sons arrived in Australia on board the "Nepaul".
For some reason Jane remained in Scotland.
The 1871 England Census shows that a Jane McQueen aged 15 was a General Servant at No.16 Pine Street, L'Pool in the Municipal of Abercromby. Our Jane would have been 18 by 1871
It is also believed that her older brother John later returned to Scotland.
Both parents died in Sydney - Duncan in 1875 and Rosanna abt. 1859. Their son William died in 1865 aged 16 at Richmond River, NSW.
Son Duncan, my gg/f married Susannah Hosford on the 25 August 1887 in Croydon, Nth.Q'ld. The couple had (7) children - (6) daughters and (1) son. Duncan died on the 11 January 1917 in the Croydon Hospital and is buried in the Croydon Cemetery.
