Portland, is where I live. Thomas moved out here and died here. He was married to a Florence ?, they had two children but I don't have names for them. . My grandfather James Woodrow died in 1947 of leukemia. My grandmother Florence Leone Motz, then moved to Portland with two young children. I am not sure if Thomas was here before or after that. I have nothing on a Vernon.

My mother said that Vernon was a brother. He married Maude (not sure of her maiden name). They had two children (I know the daughter is still living). She did say that Vernon had a different mother - she thinks...she never met him because he was gone. He moved to Portland, Oregon to live at a young age. Maude initially went, but later came back to Iowa with the children.

marriage record is on www.familysearch.org and was abstracted by the LDS
In doing some census searches. James and Melissa may have had a child after all. On the 1910 census for Iowa there is a daughter Verna, age 10 in James Household. She would have been born before James and Ella were married and about the time that James and Melissa appear to divorce.
Then there is a Vernon C. McQueen listed on the 1925 Iowa census as a step-son and he was born in 1907! However on the 1920 census his age is listed as 19 making birth 1901.
Need more research.

One picture of James W McQueen with wife (sorry, my mother knew the name), and Oma Jane and a picture of James Leander McQueen and Ella Beatrice Dorsey on their wedding day.

If you want to see my album, email me at tmmorris@hotmail.com and I will forward the link.
I have the marriage to Melissa Miller on 4-20-1898 in Modale, Harrison, Iowa. No children though. I got this info from someone's tree and can not verify it. I am a descendant of Ella Dorsey and James. I too have the 13 children. from the other two wives.

Can't access my Rootsweb account, don't know why. So am answering through Ancestry. my email is jcgrezlik@bright.net if this doesn't answer your question.

Don't know if I miss sent an Ancestry post or not, so will post again. William Henry McQueen was married to Mary Anne Walters in Carroll Co. Ohio on 25 Oct 1853, according to marriage records.

According to marriage records for Harrison Co. IA, James L. McQueen married Melissa Miller on 20 Apr 1898 in Modale. I don't know of another James L. McQueen so I thought I had the right one. I don't believe there were children to this marriage. On the 1900 census there is no wife and has a "D" for James, so he was divorced. So they were only married a couple of years.

My grandmother Helen Darlene McQueen Herman, but my mother was actually raised by Alice Muriel McQueen Bussey.

My mother has birth information for 13 children. 5 with Elizabeth Fry and 8 with Ella Beatrice Dorsey. She knows nothing about a 2nd wife. Have you confirmed this?

Very interesting :)

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Yes they are indeed the same Fredric, and I have managed to find 8 children so far, with Frederic being the fourth born. Its good to hear from someone who is actually related to this set of McQueens! I have nothing either of what happened to frederics wife and other children. Back to hunting I suppose!

Feel free to look at the family tree though.

Thanks again

Jane McQueen

Sr. had a brother named Frederic who was born July 3, 1845. Could this be the same Frederic? I have no further information on him, but I believe there were 10 children in total.

Feel free to email me directly: clay at mcqueens dot us.

Sorry, that should have been great granddaughter. My granny and your grandfather were cousins.

In 1871, Robert Simmie was the Principal Customs Officer in Drainie, living in same street (High Street) as Daniel McQueen and his family (Daniel was once in the Coastguard so probably previously Navy, although no records exist for Daniel at all as far as I can find - I asked someone I found on the net who apparently collects UK Coastguard genealogy records as a hobby). I assume Daniel and Robert were friends, hence your grandfather was named after a family friend.
Am seeking ancestors and descendants of Anthony McQueen (b. ca. 1850, perhaps South Carolina or North Carolina) and his wife Manila Tayor (from a death record, it could be Thayer).

They had at least a son, Trussie David McQueen (b. 22 Sep 1878 perhaps Dillon County, South Carolina and d. 7 Nov 1951 Cumberland County, North Carolina). He married Ada May McNeill (b. 2 Apr 1882 Robeson County, North Carolina and d. 10 Jan 1967 Laurinburg, Scotland, North Carolina).

Any information greatly appreciated

I have not had time to do any genealogical research in the past couple of years, but I did wonder if there was a family connection because Francis' middle name was Shackleford. I also wondered if there could be a connection to the Allen family since that was the middle name given to Margaret's son, George. Also, I do not have any research which gives Margaret's mother's name. That is something I have yet to find.

Hi, I am trying to find some Colchester Mcqueens.
I have information on Frederick McQueen(1846)marrying Eliza Eley, and found the 6 children they had,3 of whom died and the remaining 3,Alice Frances, Eliza Kate, and Ernest Claude Eli(my husbands grt grandfather).
Frederick died in 1884 and after that i can't trace the rest of the family.
I found Ernest by chance in North Mundham Sussex in 1891 on his own, under the name Claude, which he used for the rest of his life. All his records were Claude Ernest Eli McQueen, but all stated he was born in dundalk louth Ireland(there are no records of him there!).
Any help on the rest of the family would be greatly appreciated.
