I know this is an old message but did you figure this all out. My grandfather was John Emerson McRoberts. My mom was one of the first six kids that he had. Although I am 50 years old, I found out only about 3 years ago that another family existed. My Uncle Dave told me.

If you are still interested in this, contact me at that email and I will tell you more.

Patrick Alan McRoberts

SEATTLE, Wash. - Patrick Alan McRoberts, 57, died suddenly at his home in Seattle on May 26, 2010.

A memorial service is being planned for a future date. Memorials may be sent to History Link, www.historylink.org.

He was born Dec. 23, 1952, the son of Patrick and Frances (Highbarger) McRoberts of Muscatine. He was a graduate of Muscatine High School and the University of Iowa, where he also received a master's degree from the Writers Workshop.

From 1986 until his death, Patrick worked as a writer in Seattle, primarily with Bob Gogerty and Don Stark - Republicans by day and Democrats by night. They worked on public affairs campaigns for corporations including Boeing, AT&T and Weyerhauser on campaigns that included speeches, op-ed pieces and position papers.

They would then work pro bono for causes and people they believed in, including former Washington Gov. Mike Lowry and former Seattle Mayor Norm Rice. This drove the political consultants, who charged for such services, crazy.

During the early 1990s, Patrick was a member of the Del-Vros, a post-populist folk-funk band that worked itself up from playing tiny taverns to its own venue at Seattle's Folklife Festival.

He married Kim Harper Holcomb in 1992 in a Seattle park, where Lowry, the then-Governor-elect, helped set up the folding chairs.

In the mid-1990s, the couple helped create the literary magazine Point No Point, with the sponsorship of the famous Blue Moon Tavern. The highlight of this project was a $1,500 grant from the Grateful Dead and an invitation to have a booth at the band's next, and what turned out to be last, concert in Seattle.

In the 1990s Patrick was an original staff member of History Link, brainchild of the writer Walt Crowley. Catapulted to sudden fame by the 1999 World Trade Organization riots in Seattle, History Link - where Patrick became senior editor and contributed more than 85 essays - remains the living laboratory of history and the go-to site for all things Seattle.

He was a member of the band The Peptides, and had his own consulting firm. He was all about words - in lyrics, poetry, short stories and word games - but mainly in conversation. To speak to him was to become his friend.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Kim, sons Jeremy and Sterling, granddaughters Twila Ann and Isabella Rose, all of Seattle; his mother of Muscatine; sister Pam Sander of Rochester, Minn.; nephews John Josinger (Keiko) and Douglas Krone; and grand-nephew Skyler Josinger.

He was preceded in death by his father, brother Jan McRoberts, grandparents Olive and James Highbarger and Geneva and Ernest McRoberts.

I just wanted to let you know that I had my DNA ran. It wansn't that expensive, they have 50% discount right now.
I was wondering if you know of any other McRoberts/MacRoberts that have also done the same? It would be a great help pulling the family threads together.

Sam, you mention a John McRoberts that ran a mill. I would like to know if you happen to have any of his relatives mapped out? My GGGG grandfather (David McRoberts) had a son (Andrew McRoberts, married a Jane Kennedy) that stayed in Ulster to take a mill from his uncle (Robert). Is there any chance that these McRoberts are related?
Thanks,
Matt

Sorry it has been such a long time. I get on this stuff in spurts. Uncle Harry Neill was my grandmother's brother. My grandmother was Ada Neill Stanton. I have memories of visiting your Uncle Harry in Salina. His wife, Aunt Edith was always so nice. I have had the good fortune to visit Ireland on several occasions and have a great deal of info on the Neills. I have connected with relatives and visited the home where James was born and the church where Ben and Fannie were married. I have a slate stone on my desk I took from the old corn mill John McRoberts ran and where apparently Ben worked. My current e.mail is sstanton@mklm.org Please be in touch. There is even a possibility I will be in S. CA in November. I was actually in San Diego in June. Hopefully I could pay you a visit.

Regards......Sam Stanton

McRoberts family of London, Ontario, Canada

I am looking for info on Isaac McRoberts, born 1837 in Middlesex County, Ontario. He married Eliza Taylor, born 1838 also in Middlesex. I believe that Isaac was the son of Andrew. I have ten children listed for Isaac and Eliza:
Annie, Sarah Jane, Mariah Theresa, Mary, Evelena, Alice, Emma, Charles , Maud and Ernest. Some of the kids were born in Middlesex and some in Muskoka/Parry Sound. When Isaac died in 1913 he was living in Thunder Bay district. Does anyone have this family in their tree???? I am especially intereted in any info on ELiza Taylor.

Lori
wafer@look.ca

Yes, I did, didn't I? I guess my memory is going, going, gone. LOL

I do want to correct myself about where I was born. It was at the Old, and I mean old, Fairview Hospital. I think it is no longer there. Last time I heard anything about it,was way back hundreds of years ago,and it was then a warehouse.

How is your research coming along? I'm still digging away. Spent most of this late afternoon, until now after 8:30 in the evening, trying to locate all of those ellusive McRoberts ancestors. And, all the people who were married to them.

See you soon, cuz Pat

I have had my dna tested, but not all the results have come back yet.
By next week I expect to have all my results.
You can check out ysearch.org. That is a free site where you can compare results. It was setup by FamilyTreedna. My results will get posted there just as soon as everything is complete. I had one group of markers that did not get refined, so they are being re-tested. so far there has not been any matches with the same surname of McRoberts.
I am hopeful that there will be a match with in my life time.
jlmiller@tscnet.com
